Bridge Commander just went Gold, and the Demo is now out!!

Go to www.bridgecommander.com to download it.

It is sooooooo good.

Basically your the captian of a ship after a distaster that killed the previous captian. You have to save a colony and defend the USS Sovergin from a Romulan attack. With help from the Klingons.

That's just the demo mission. There is also a Quick Battle option where you can battle a combination of ships.

If you get and beat the demo, you should get the extra ships mod. It unlocks 6 federation ships that you can play in a Quick Battle. :)

www.bcfiles.com has that MOD.

Some screens are below. :)

I tried to re-enact the battle of Nerenda III. Where the Ambasador class USS Enterprise-C came to the aid of a Klingon Outpost being attacked by 4 Romulan Warbirds.

I got owned.....twice.

Not an easy battle to win...that's for sure.

I figured out how to play as any demo ship, Warbird, Bird or Prey or Galaxy. Going to take a Bird of prey...and destroy some shuttles. :)

Did I not start a topic about this game a couple of days ago? Ah what can I do

Yeah I agree that this game looks great. The demo is far to big to download (my internet connection isn't the most reliable) so I'll just wait for the release.
I've been following the develpopment for this game for about a year now waiting for its released. I really want to get it (I have to get my preorder in soon.) In the Demo can you see the Bridge of the Galaxt class and does it look any good.
I really hope that they have devloped the Sovereigns Bridge well

Those screen shots look mighty cool. I will have that game. I can't wait to take control of a sovereign. And one more question. Can you use the cloak in quick battle. (When you choose a WarBird or BoP.) if so is any good

CornMaster
Feb 23, 2002, 01:15 PM
Yeah....the BoP and Warbird can both cloak.

It's good...you can't target or anything....and you can't see them...unless they are venting plasma or something...then you can choose manual fire mode and fire yourself.

"Computer lock not working captian."
"Best Guess Mr. Sulu."
-ST2 Wrath of Khan

If you fly to close to the sun...it does damage to the shields, and ship.

You can target specific sub-systems. Like engines, shields, impulse engines, bridge, torpedoes, etc....

In the full version you have multiplayer battles, as well as voice reconization, to you can give verbal orders to your officers.

Can the ships move on differnt planes. I mean is it like Dominion Wars where the ships couldn't go up or down

Also this game is released here on the 1st of March. I can't wait

CornMaster
Feb 23, 2002, 03:09 PM
It's totally 3D.....X, Y, AND Z planes. :)

The shields reflect this.....with 6 different shields!!

Nothing like flying straight down on a ship and blowing the bridge away. :)

Dominion wars is like that too?? Damn....I thought it was different. Because Starfleet Command 1 and 2 are like that too....as is Armada 1 and 2. :(

I've been waiting a long time for a game like this!!!

Thanks that is good news. I'm trying to download the demo myself but it is 20hrs until it is downloaded completely. They really put a lot of work into this game but I only hope that it is bug free. I really don't want to wait for a patch to be released

I've just got the demo. After three long days of downloading I finally got it. It is damn good. I must have this game. I've already pre ordered it. With any luck I'll have it on thursday. If not it will be Friday. If I am really unlucky it will be Saturday

Cool demo. I'd play the game but I don't know if I will buy it before it hits the bargain bin. Here is me destorying a Romulan ship....I had a friends, but then I didn't know how to setup the game. Poor Romulans, different from BotF.
I crank everything but sensors up to 125%. The battles are over before I waste all the reserve power anyways. :)

ONLY 1 Warbird. Pifff....take on 2. :) Took me 4 tries.....but I got them. Oh...I was in a Sovergin. :) Used all my quantums...and about 40 photons!!!

Sheesh, with all the pictures posted it would be faster just to download the demo :D

Is most of the game doing that combat stuff? I really enjoyed the idea of being in 'control' when I first tried it, before I realized I really had no control and everything was already planned out for me. I'd buy the game if I had the choice of doing A.B.C. to try and solve a problem, or had the choice of diplomatic course of action to avoid the fight (like all good Federation officers would try and do :)) Is the game going to be follow the storyline-fight-follow the storyline, or is it a dynamic type game?

From what I hear the Campaign in the full version will be more branching that the mission in the demo

I have heard really bad news. The release date here has been put back a week. It is so unfair. Why do we always have to wait for these cool games. To pass the time I will probably master the demo. I am also downloasing the manual so I won't have to waste time when I get the game.

I have one small problem. On the Soverign Bridge I believe that the Science and Engineering Stations are in the wrong place. I hve read the article on the official sites and thats not my problem. The science station should be that console just behind the First Officers chair. It replaces the tatical in position. Correct me if I am wrong

My first MP action. :)

I was disconnected after 5 minutes though...but I had 1 kill and was in 3rd place. I was flying the Cardassian Hybrid.

An AWESOME ship.....I destroyed an Akira and I had a Sovergin down to 20% before I was disconnected....

Ahhh...the memories...

But I'm stuck in the second episode of the single player though. :(

CornMaster as the game hasn't been released in some parts of the world I would like to ask that you do not give too much away regarding the plot. Is that OK?

What is the other Klingon ship like (Vor'cha) and What is the D'Kora like. Are the Cardassian ships any good

CornMaster
Feb 28, 2002, 04:12 PM
The Cardassian ships are pretty weak....but they can fire at ANY angle....which is a HUGH advantage!!

In the mission I was in....I had to fight 4....and after I destroyed two...the rest left...but came back with re-enforcements....needless to say....I lost. Plus Picard got killed....so Starfleet was pissed.

Just played some more MP....I didn't realize I was soooooo good. :)

Went 2 and 0 before I was disconnected.

Lead our team....and all the players!!

It was UFP vs Non-UFP...As I flew the Hybrid....I was Non-UFP. I destroyed a Galaxy and a Shuttle.... :)

The next SS is going to be in-game....You guys HAVE to see this ship. :)

So does this mean that the game is out already?
Plus, the UFP ships can fire in all directions also...right? Just have different phaser banks that drain....during the demo they were constantly turning the ship around to get the max out of the different phaser banks.

No...Federation ships have multiple phaser arcs....top and bottom. That cover about 3/4 of the possible range. But aft is a blind spot.

The Cardassian ships (and Kessok ships) tend to have upper, lower, and forward firing arcs. Meaning they can hit just about anything....anywhere....but they still also have minor blind spots here and there.

And yes, the game is out. :) Been out since Monday.

I'm play more...but I have to go to school. :(

Laterz

CornMaster, you're psyching me about possibly spending my $50 for this quarter on Bridge Commander, but since you have the game, you have to answer the question: Are the missions desgined dynamically or is it a follow the plotline setup?

CornMaster
Mar 01, 2002, 12:38 PM
So far it seems pretty pre-determinded.

A.k.a. Save the station.....you fail game over. No other track. Save the colony....yes=continue no = game over. But I'm only on the 2nd episode of 9...so it could change.

I just got the game yesterday and I think it is pretty good. The story mode is a little to linear for my liking but all in all it is not that bad.

I do have a problem with that damn 1st officer. What is her problem. If you do one little thing wrong of she goes to Admiral Liu. She seems to openly defy orders on the bridge.

I can't wait for the SDK to be released so we can finally get some new ships, bridges, etc. I can't wait to add the Defiant and other ships to the game

Wolfe Tone
Mar 13, 2002, 01:34 PM
I have finally completed the game. It is a pretty good storyline. I won't give to much away here but I would be happy to help anybody who is stuck on a particular mission

CornMaster
Mar 14, 2002, 04:45 PM
I'm on E7M2

Would have finished it but I rammed a Keldon. :( Took it out..and almost another....but there is only so much you can take with no shields. ;)

damunzy
Mar 20, 2002, 01:23 AM
So, is it completely linear or are there choices later in the game?

Wolfe Tone
Mar 24, 2002, 01:09 PM
I think I counted 3 or 4 choices that you have to make througout the game. Only the last one affects the ending of the game
