well I know the title is perhaps a little awkward. I just want an analysis of my game to see what I should do differently or something.

In this game I'm playing the English under Victoria and was waiting for the redcoat before going to war, so in about 1850 I declared war on India and within 30 years (10-20 turns I think) I had wiped them from the continent and thier last city is on a small island, I left that for last and will get that as soon as the galleon finishes in a few turns. meanwhile I have some frigates keeping the pressure on that city.

While I know I could have razed some cities, I kept his 4 main cities because I didn't want the Arabs to have a chance to expand, I did raze Calcutta which was too close to Bombay (it was 4 tiles to the east) and I may raze his last city on that tiny island, I haven't decided whether to keep that last one or not. The second reason though was because his cities already had my state religion, so...

Since I killed the Indians pretty quick, I think I can get the Arabs before the time limit, but not really sure.

smjjames,

By way of some reply ...

Apologies - I'm unable to play Civ for the next few days as 'afc'.

In light of your summary, I guess it's worth discussing 'To raze or not to raze?', and I suspect you're doing the right thing. If a city is going to be a net contributor to your empire due to resources, holding terrain and borders away from encroaching tribes, possible trade bait, it has desirable wonders or shrines, etc., and you think that (a.) it won't flip, (b.) its maintenance cost is worth its benefit, (c.) you can adequately defend it, then I'd say keep it (unless actively wanting to avoid a Domination victory, as the city would add to your population or land area).

I would also, as you suggest, take out that last Indian city to avoid unhappiness through the "We yearn for our Motherland" issues. If you can hold that city, and it satisfies some of the abovementioned criteria, I wouldn’t see much point in razing it as a general observation – although you may have other reasons.

yea, I took out that city as soon as I got my galleon in place and moved some units over. I razed that city anyway.

as for the arab cities, I'll just raze em all when I conquer them :)

Again, I haven't the opportunity to look at the game, but I'm not sure why you're razing cities almost by default.

Why did you raze the Indian city, and are there no Arab cities worth holding?

I am assuming that you're doing this to avoid Domination which would interfere with your envisaged Conquest win.

yea, I wanted to avoid a domination win, and the last indian city wasn't useful anyway.
