hey all, you know who you are. Bede and I had a PM conversation about slavery vs. caste. I'm too idiotic to pick up what he's trying to tell me, so I thought I'd invite some discussion.

I usually play at prince and have moderate success with caste on fractal maps.

Bede tells me this is too expensive, but I'm too much of a DA to understand.

Somebody splain this to me in small words. :confused:

empire costs more money = bad

whipping unwitting servants = good

I prefer Slavery almost any time, unless i'm going for some backdoor-win. I whip any time i see a red face.

yeah that's not a bright idea as the red faces are most likely caused by your whipping..

I honestly think that both are viable (I know not a small word). It depends on your playstyle and how you set up your empire. AK has obsession with Great People. That's why he hangs out with Whomp and I :D . But he knows how to use them to further his empire. I have a feeling that if he ever figured out the Multiplayer menu in civ4, he could kick my butt. I tend to like slavery a little more.

There is no wrong path in civ 4 except the one that you jump to in the middle of your game. You need to stick to a plan and get better at it. AK has been developing strategies since civ4 came out. Believe it or not, he's loved Great People since the beginnig and has actually came up with a play style that suits it.

erm... no! if you hit the happy-limit, just whip 2 or 3 ppl, then the whip-unhappyness will be gone before you reach the limit the next time. of course this is not _the_ solution, but it works quite ok. i have to say that i play quite aggressive, sometimes i just visit a neighbor to raze a or two city of him and maybe steal a worker, so any additional axeman is welcome.

oh yeah... did I mention I'm an idiot?
