love that victory jump
Yabanjin May 04, 2006, 09:34 PM Good job Shiro. Looks great!
Plotinus May 05, 2006, 03:07 AM Excellent work, Shiro. That headpiece thing gives him a very distinctive look. Thank you!
Rambuchan May 05, 2006, 03:43 AM Hey nice work! I like it a lot.
FYI: The Maasai are from Kenya. Largely nomadic herders. The jump you've got as the victory is entirely appropriate too, for they do this at a number of dances. You'll find that they usually wear red robes. They often paint their faces with red and white, and also go for scarification. Another characteristic decorative element of Maasai culture is their bead work. You'll find both men and women with huge collections of tiny, coloured bead chains around their necks. Again, often red or white in colour. You'd find them in place of the neck piece you have atm (which is still quite appropriate). I'll find some Maasai pics and put them in the spoiler for your further info.
EDIT: Here are the pics and it seems the Maasai live in parts of Tanzania also.

Looking out over the Maasai Mara or Sarangeti plains most likely. They live in a beautiful land, largely made up of great tracks of game reserve.

Grandraem May 05, 2006, 06:12 AM Looks great, Shiro. I like the victory jump too.:)
woodelf May 05, 2006, 06:50 AM Ditto what everyone said. The jump is a super touch. :)
Goldflash May 05, 2006, 09:47 AM Shiro, why don't you put the Date in the name of your thread so we can keep track of such things?
AncientOne May 05, 2006, 01:03 PM Unit is great.. but it seems, that you haven't included units32 for this
?
BadKharma May 05, 2006, 02:04 PM Another great unit Shiro very nice details on the jump and head dress.
7ronin May 05, 2006, 05:51 PM Great work. Very distinctive with superb animation. Love that jump.
Vuldacon May 06, 2006, 01:18 AM Although this has been said several times....Love the distinctive look with the head dress and the jump adds a distinctive action as well. This captures more of the essence of the Maasai...nice touch :goodjob:
Snorken May 10, 2006, 12:39 PM What everyone else said, basically. :)
ShiroKobbure May 10, 2006, 12:43 PM Maybe me and Plotinus can fill the gaps in Africa unit line ^o^
Plotinus May 10, 2006, 01:12 PM I'm just following your lead, Shiro!
As I said before, the real gaps for Africa are in the early modern/industrial period, with muskets and so on. But the gaps are getting filled, slowly but surely...
Mithadan May 11, 2006, 10:25 AM Great unit! Two questions, though:
1. What the hang is that thing on his head? Reminds me of that little spitting dinosaur from Jurassic Park. Is it supposed to be like those collars those kids were wearing in Rambuchan's post?
2. The spear seems, I dunno, too European. Aren't the Masai spears more Zulu-esque, or at least more of the shaft being steel? (My dad's got a spear -- from Mali, though -- and the whole thing is steel...)
Regardless, I'm downloading this unit and putting it in my mod...because it still very good.
Stormrage May 11, 2006, 04:18 PM That dinosaur also did that little jump thingy IIRC :D
Nice unit, Shiro!

Holy cow, look at Sheena givin' the "Iklwa" to Conan's gut!
W.i.n.t.e.r May 12, 2006, 02:07 PM Yes, uhm well the models they have on display aren't really the uhm most suitable ones *cough*- but I was mostly referring to the actual weapons :D
Mithadan May 13, 2006, 10:26 PM Granted, but it sure is funny!
BTW, I'm glad you pointed out that site. I'm asking for a "Viking Spearhead" for my birthday. Then I'll be off to find a nice hardwood staff, fix 'er up, and head out to the field to huck it around! Sweet! :crazyeye:
Stormrage May 14, 2006, 07:12 PM @Mithadan, look out for bears ;)
Mithadan May 14, 2006, 08:38 PM  Funny you should mention that, I'm going hunting bear for the first time the Saturday before Father's day.
It's either "yum" or "be yummed"!!!! :D
Edit: speaking of spears, when I was at my firearms safety course (I'm a bit of a liability, see), the instructor was telling me that some guy wanted to hire him as a guide to hunt bears...with a spear! I guess the request was declined, because it was an uninsurable risk. Too frickin' funny!
Stormrage May 15, 2006, 05:22 AM Have fun, don`t get blood on your whites, it takes like 3 or 4 cycles to wash it away, or you have to scrubb it by hand. I`ll never go to a kindergarten to borrow some coins for a phone again..
You should get the Dick Cheney insurance policy ;)
Mithadan May 15, 2006, 11:00 AM Thanks for the laundry advice!
Methinks to get Dick Cheney's insurance policy I might have to be the Vice President, among other things... ;)
Goldflash May 17, 2006, 08:04 PM Cheney's Got a gun.. Be do dou! Gunna Shoot Every one.. Be do Dou!
Mithadan May 18, 2006, 10:06 AM Took me a while to figure out what "Be do dou" meant, but then I had a flashback to hanging out in the arcade during lunch hour in Grade 9 where the bangers controlled the jukebox...and then it all made sense!
