View Full Version : B2 - Revenge of the Aztecs!
BrianJ Feb 23, 2002, 05:56 AM Copied example from Lees LK series:
Worker automate is not fair is sucession games - please do not use it.
Also, no long go to orders. Don't fortify ships in the middle of the ocean.
Of course - NEVER load a autosave!

BrianJ Feb 23, 2002, 05:58 AM 4000 BC
Our people descend from the hills to form a town. Tenochtitlan is our fist city and capital.
3600 BC
We get a settler from a friendly tribe!
Teotihuacan is settled.
3550 BC
We meet the Americans. They wont trade us Masonry.
3300 BC
We get maps from an Incan tribe. Zzz..
3100 BC
We see an American Settler wandering around unguarded. I'm not interested in a Golden age with 2 new towns however!
3000 BC
The Americans are the largest civ! We are 3rd.
2510 BC
We are doing OK. The Americans are trying to crowd us. We may have to suffer an early Golden Age to wipe them out.
LKendter Feb 23, 2002, 07:24 AM Well I see a spot I want - The hugh block on incense.
You know how powerful luxuries get in this game.
BrianJ Feb 23, 2002, 08:42 AM Well I see a spot I want - The hugh block on incense.
Yeah, I know.. I'd kinda like the Boston location too ;) :D
Of course, Boston should have been placed on the river.. we'll have to correct the poor misguided Americans.
Arizona_Steve Feb 23, 2002, 08:52 AM Get a stack of Jaguar warriors and go kick some American butt. I always go to war if someone crowds me out early :)
LKendter Feb 23, 2002, 10:59 AM Same here, I am playing #2
Nanook Feb 23, 2002, 11:16 AM But please move me to the bottom of the turn order. As I said in B1, things are a bit crazy here now but will be ok in a couple days. Moving me to the bottom of the order should give me enough time to get things together.
shdwlord Feb 23, 2002, 11:44 AM I'm in
LKendter Feb 23, 2002, 12:16 PM Pre-turn
Switch Teno to Barracks.
2470 BC - Begin research on Masonry.
2350 BC - Another border is spotted.
2310 BC - First contact with Japan, can't get a deal there.
2150 BC - Our warriors destroy the barb camp that was bothering Teot. Still not enough money to buy any techs from America. I refuse gpt this early.
1990 BC - Destroy another barb camp. Give that money plus $1 and get a Japan worker. This early, it is a big plus. Japan is now cautious.
1950 BC - Pop a hut, just to get angry warriors.
1870 BC - Gems on-line, 3 cities get a happy boost. We give up most of our cash ($58), and get Bronze working. We are still WAY behind in tech.
1725 BC - I really hate a golden ages this early, but the placement of Seattle really pissed me off. One mere warrior destroys Seattle - bite me Lincoln. We find **2** workers by New York - Can we get them home?
1700 BC - Begin research on Iron working. Tlax founded by a ton on incense.
1675 BC - Attempt an assualt on Boston, but when I realize it has 2 spearman, I abort.
1650 BC - Cali formed.
1625 BC -
1600 BC - Plus $25 from a barb camp. I use the extra money, and buy Mysticism from Japan for $75. We are still behind in tech.
Summary - Amercia won't talk yet. We have a chance at the Pyramids, concentrate on improving Teno. Just 43 turns, and about to grow. Get those 2 workers in the mountains home. It will take awhile, but extra workers always helps.
shdwlord Feb 23, 2002, 12:55 PM I will do my best. Have you seen any troop movement between the workers and home?
LKendter Feb 23, 2002, 01:21 PM Since I got to the moutains, no sign of American troops.
shdwlord Feb 23, 2002, 02:42 PM Preturn: hmmm, we are a bit boxed in here
1) 1550 Attack on Philadelphia kills one spearman, at least one more there. Attack called off.
American warrior reinforcements arriving at Philly
2) 1525 wounded units retreat, archer advances, 2 jags circle philly so they won't have to attack across the river.
America offers us a peace treaty, we tell them they have to give us alphabet, and they agree. They have 273 gold in their treasury, they must have been trading already.
3) 1500 Tex switched to settler.
Americans start the pyramids.
4) 1475
5) 1450 Japan raids a barbarian hut one turn before we reach it.
6) 1425
7) 1400 Iron working learned, writing taken. Rome found directly south. They have communications with the Iroquois, Egyptians, Greeks, Chinese, and Indians.
8) 1375
9) 1350
10) 1325
11) 1300 Xoch, errr, steel town founded, starts temple. When its borders expand, we will have iron.
12) 1275 The Americans start the great library.
13) 1250
14) 1225 We find the indians, to the left of the romans.
15) 1200 our golden age has ended. Xochicalco founded.
16) 1175 Writing learned, map making started. hopefully we will be able to catch up in tech by trading maps.
17) 1150
18) 1125
19) 1100 Contact with the Iroquois. The Indians are building the great library.
20) 1075 Contact with the greeks.
The spearman fortified in the tundra are the locations I was going to send the settlers. Seemed like the best place to secure the furs there. The spearman between Tlat and Xoch has goto orders to Xoch. I didn't do much for the infrastructure as I was trying to not get completely boxed in right away.
Arizona_Steve Feb 23, 2002, 04:17 PM Noticed Nanook's request to move to the bottom of the list, so I guess I'm up.
(Playing now)
Arizona_Steve Feb 23, 2002, 06:08 PM The reign of Steve the Boring...
A quick check of the foreign advisor screen shows that everyone's pissed at us.
Inherited turn:
Iroquois starts pyramids
(1) 1050BC
A couple of settler locations in the East are changed to snag all four golds before the Americans get 'em. A second settler is sent to claim the furs. Fortified spearmen make their way to the new city sites. I find another settler and figure he'll wander out and claim the lands to the west of us.
(2) 1025BC
A settler/spearman pair appears from Chicago. We have a number of jaguar warriors there, and they are moved to create a blockade.
(3) 1000BC
Steve vetoes the unpronouncable and untypable Aztec names and founds Goldmine next to the four golds. A Temple is ordered. Japan gives us contact with the Egyptions for 19 gold. The Egyptions give us contact with the Chinese for 21 gold.
(4) 975BC
Chicago settler/spearman pair are completely blocked off.
(5) 950BC
Chicago settler/spearman pair moves back, and our blockade moves with it. They're trapped within their own borders now. Muhahaha. Despite our skullduggery, Lincoln establishes an American embassy. The Indians start building pyramids. Dinner is served at the Royal Palace. My girlfriend looks at me funny when I tell her I have an empire to run.
(6) 925BC
Texcoco builds temple, starts settler.
(7) 900BC
Our treaury is running low. Science backed off from 70% to 60% to maintain a positive cashflow. Territory maps are exchanges with China. They go from cautious to polite. Mapmaking is discovered. We begin the wheel in order to figure out where the horses are. Failed to catch Technochtitlan before it went into disorder. Elvis is raised from the dead. Steel Town builds temple and starts barracks. The Greeks start the Great Library.
(8) 875BC
Furville founded on one of the furs.
(9) 850BC
(10) 825BC
Chinese start Great Library
(11) 800BC
The wheel is researched and we find that horses are already online. Horseback riding started. Lets get some horsemen and kick Lincoln's ass.
(12) 775BC
Barbarian camp dispersed, jaguar warrior becomes elite. 25 gold is a VERY welcome boost to the treasury. A second horse is spotted within our borders and roads are started to connect them, and the reamining cities to our empire. The Oracle is started in Japan.
(12) 750BC
Iron connected near Steel Town. The borders have already expanded there, and swordsman production can begin.
(13) 730BC
Lincoln demands territory map and 13 Gold. I think about this a while and decide we're ill-prepared for war right now. Let's get some nice 10+ swordsmen stacks next to his cities that are on OUR land first. In the meantime I agree to his demands, but mark him down for elimination.
(14) 710BC
Horseback riding discovered and start polytheism. This might seem like a strange choice, but the AI rarely researches this line, and it might be a good one to trade around to get us to tech parity. I decide that we have no hope in hell of getting the Great Library. :(
(15) 690BC
Second iron deposit spotted on Northern coast. An ideal place for a city would snag two incenses after border expansion, and is on a hill for defence. Two jaguar warriors on Barbarian patrol run into a Japanese settler heading to the same spot, and scare him off. Great Library started in Japan. Nice of them to waste some shields.
(16) 670BC
Our Japanese settler returns with his friends. This time he has a spearman escort. Our two jaguar warriors block their progress as best as possible. It is fortunate that the AI hasn't got a clue with blockades. Our settler is on his way to the prime site, hopefully he can reach it in time.
(17) 650BC
The Japanese must REALLY want that iron. A warrior comes into view.
(18) 630BC
The blockade is successful and I confirm that OUR settler is going to make it to the second iron. :) WE COMPLETE THE PYRAMIDS!! Everyone else cascades to Great Library and Oracle. Harbour started. Someone may want to try for Great Lighthouse there, so feel free to change.
(19) 610BC
Our settler reaches the new city location to claim a second source of iron. Beijing completes the Great Library, cascades to Oracle and Great Lighthouse.
(20) 590BC
Steveville (Yeah!) founded by second source of iron. We will also get another two incense once the borders expand.
Notes:
(1) A second settler is on a hill which I think would be a good city site. Workers are already roading their way there.
(2) Started swordsmen in a couple of cities. Kick some American butt.
Arizona_Steve Feb 23, 2002, 06:19 PM Here's a view of our empire as it stands right now. I have marked the position of our settler-on-a-hill. I think this is a good place to get a city going.

shdwlord Feb 23, 2002, 08:26 PM When is the best time to trade your world/territory map with the AI? Unless there are spots I want to settle and don't want the AI to see, I usually trade it away as soon as I get map making. Usually, I get 1-2 techs per civ, plus contact with another civ, often their territory map, and some gold. Do this with every civ, and you have tech parity, and usually enough gold to establish embassies with everyone, and a nearly complete world map yourself. In this case, for example, we would have saved the 40 gold for contact with Egypt and China, prevented China and America from benefitting from selling our territory map around, and saved us turns of research on the wheel and whatever other techs the AI already had, which would have put us even closer to monarchy and the hanging gardens.
Pyramids vs Great Library. Which is better, when you can only build one of them? I usually choose the GL, and if this hadn't been an SG, would have switched the Pyramids to the GL at my first chance. But I know that LKendter prefers the Pyramids, so I tried my best to ensure that we would get those instead. With the great library, you can research the monarchy line and keep even with the AI in the other lines of tech research, giving you a small lead.
If you do have the Great Library, in general, is it better to learn education, and try to outresearch the AI from this point, or research down the military tradition line, giving you a lead there, until you get education from the GL? I usually go for invention for Leo's, and depending on the situation, either education, to get universities and open up a tech lead, or gunpowder, for defence, then education for the tech lead.
The city of goldmine. I was torn between settling where steve did, or 2 squares away, on the coast. I would have chosen the coast, giving up one or two of the gold deposits within my city range, but not eventual cultural borders, for the greater growth potential of a coastal city.
Steve, I hope you don't take any of this as criticism toward you, it wasn't intended that way :) Just listing some choices I would have made differently, and asking for advice on which in general is better, so everyone reading this thread can become a better player.

The Americans are building the Oracle
570 BC:
Tlacopan founded on a hill.
Looks like we have a ways to go to those 10 Swordsmen stacks!
550 BC:
A barbarian horse attacks our Jag, knocking him down 2 points. That doesn't stop him from knocking out the camp!
530 BC:
We learn about multiple deities, start studying mathematics. Never used it after highschool myself...
Teno starts Great Lighthouse.
510 BC:
490 BC:
Washington completes the Oracle. How nice of the Americans to build it for us..
Did I build Tlatelolco? If so, what was I thinking? A cow tile is wasted..

They are WAY ahead on the Tech front! :(
350 BC:

270 BC:
250 BC:
Iroquois offer their territory map for ours plus 24 gold. I turn him away.
230 BC:
Oops I did it again. I feel like Brit.. never mind.. Our troops are automatically moved out of Indian space. They must be expanding now.
I start Currency. Still way behind.
210 BC:
The Americans declare war on us! They must be jealous of our gold medal in Hockey! (grin) They attack Xochicalco, kill one of our spearmen! we counter attack and kill one of their warriors. A jag was at the right place at the right time.
We have a settler near the desert lands ready to form a new city near Steveville(?) Watch the American Archer there.

LKendter Feb 26, 2002, 08:57 PM 190 BC - Kill 2, lose 1 unit.
170 BC - LeeVille is formed.
150 BC - This is the way we chase the Jaguar, chase the Jaguar, chase the Jaguar
1 dead American Swordman.
130 BC - In a fit of boredom, I rename the Aztec cities - I hate these names.
110 BC - Hello Boston, don't look out your window ;)
India demands territory map, who cares - have it - now go away!
90 BC - Our horsesies beat up Boston, and then our swordsman takes it going elite.
2 free workers, and 2 tax collectors that we will work to death.
Oh, Philadelphia broken from the American road net.
70 BC - General Lee is caught singing "We will, we will, kill you. We will, we will, kill you."
50 BC - Hello Philadelphia, don't look out your window ;) Something nasty in 40 years.
:flamedevi: I just found a new perverse trade. Sell territory map for $1, followed by world map for $1 :flamedevi: Hey, we are so broke the couple extra bucks could upgrade another Jaguar to swordsman.
Start another round of - This is the way we chase the Jaguar, chase the Jaguar, chase the Jaguar
30 BC - Lincoln is hear to by crying - "Mommy, the mean Aztecs are picking on me".
10 BC - Lincoln is hear to by crying - "Mommy, they took Philadelphia from me.
General Lee celebrates and orders a cheese steak ;)
LKendter Feb 26, 2002, 09:03 PM 10 AD - The Americans are not playing fair, they almost catch our Jaguar.
 An American regular Swordsman kills our elite Swordsman
I want a leader :ripper:
:satan: Washington looks like a good location for the forbidden palace :satan:
30 AD - Mr. Lincoln, don't look, my Jaguars are pillaging your improvements.
Hello New York, don't look out your window ;)
50 AD - Our glorious horses kill that mean Swordsman :die!:
We ask the world for a contribution to the upgrade of Jaguar fund. Thank for buying our maps, please come again. We have another swordsman.
 Lincoln is hear to by crying - "Mommy, they took New York from me.
Mr. Lincoln, don't look, my Jaguars are STILL pillaging your improvements.
[FLUSH=shields] The Americans build the Lighthouse in Atlanta [FLUSH=shields]
70 AD - The swordsman / archer from hell kill another Aztec unit. What are these ? :mutant:
We get the token prize of Colossus. Still, +4 gold a turn.
LKendter Feb 26, 2002, 09:05 PM 90 AD - Not enough civs will contribute to the upgrade to swordsmans fund. We will have to punish them later :die!:
Hello Chicago, don't look out your window ;) OK, not as scary as the other stacks but ... :scout:
110 AD - Chicago is a pain in the ......, kick 2 swordsman for nothing.
Mr. Lincoln is right, I am "a difficult person to bargain with". I just plan to take what I want.
130 AD - We get to perform the troop shuffle
150 AD - I already did the troop shuffle
Kyoto completes the Hanging gardens.
170 AD - Mr. Lincoln, more bad news. We take Chicago.
I remembered what my mommy told me - If at first you do suceed, try, try again.
Bejiing builds the great wall.

2) 230 Washington and the Oracle are captured. Barracks ordered.
3) 250 Atlanta and the Great Lighthouse captured.
American bowman attacks and kills a horseman.
4) 260 Monarchy discovered, Feudalism ordered. Decent into anarchy, and instant monarchy. Largest nations of the world: Aztecs, Indians, Chinese, Iroquois, Babylonians, Greeks, English, Egyptians.
5) 270 Teot begins palace as placeholder for Sun Tzu's. Seattle repels 2 horsemen attack, no losses on either side.
6) 280 Lone spearman in Seattle defeated, Seattle captured.
7) 290
8) 300
9) 310

11) 330 Houston captured. St. Louis captured.

America will give us the republic, a worker, and either detroit or denver for peace. They have launched no offensive assaults on us, so it will be up to the next leader whether he wants to pursue a peaceful consolidation, or further aggressive expansion. Good luck

I vote war! :hammer: We don't want the American cities flipping back. Especially Washington, with the Oracle. Besides they have excess Iron and gems still.
We need a road from Wall County to Japan, also linking up all the incence there.
Good luck Arizona Steve!
Arizona_Steve Mar 02, 2002, 08:09 AM *** Playing ***
Arizona_Steve Mar 02, 2002, 10:24 AM Good to see we've made some gains, albeit at the expense of science. We need to get to the point where we can get ahead in tech, therefore I aimed to maximize the gains from America, get peace and switch to Republic and infrastructure.
Inherited turn
No changes.
(1) 360AD
I decide on the target for the next attack. Miami would be counterproductive, as three out of six American cities are far enough away from it to be plagued with corruption. So I choose between Boston and San Fransisco. Boston would be more produtive for us if I get a leader and rush the Forbidden Palace at Washington. Boston it is then. I begin by massing troops in St Louis for next attack wave.
(2) 370AD
Well it happens sooner than expected. An elite horsie kills an American archer and a Great Leader is born [dance] He is sent into safer lands en route to Washington. We will get our Forbidden Palace. A couple of American Swords which have fortified themselves in the mountains are killed before they can reach St Louis. Our troops begin the march to Buffalo.
(3) 380AD
Great Leader arrives in Washington. Barracks is due there in three turns, so I decide to make the switch to Forbidden Palace after it completes. Greece moves units around St Louis and declares war. I decide a strategy of getting out of this war quickly, once I kill a few hoplites of course :)
(4) 390AD
Kill some greek horses and warriors :) I begin the attack on Buffalo, but they are blessed with super-spearman, who kills a couple of horses and makes a couple more reteat.
(5) 400AD
Barracks are completed at Washington. Start Forbidden Palace, and rush it using our leader there.
(6) 410AD
[dance] Forbidden Palace comes online [dance] Buffalo is finally captured and I move in ONE horseman with ONE hit point left  Reinforcements are sent. We get two free workers from the capture though.
(7) 420AD
More dead Americans :goodjob: Swordsman reinforces Buffalo. I veto the current improvements and start walls at Buffalo and St Louis. FP lowers corruption, and as a result we increase science to 70%.
(8) 430AD
Walls complete at St Louis. I start a temple there as it's worryingly close to the current American capitol. I sue for peace with America. We get Denver plus all of their techs - 3 in total. Denver is miles out of the way, and I took it as a diversion for the Greeks. I have no intention of trying to keep it. I attempt to get peace with Greece, but they refuse our envoy.
(9) 440AD
Start Sun Tzu's in Tenochtitlan. We have gold EVERYWHERE and none of it is online or mined. Time to get it online in preparation for switch to republic once we're at peace with Greece. Greece shows little sign of a large army though, we're only getting sporadic archers and warriors, with the odd hoplite. I get the feeling they don't have any iron. Due to the low attack intensity, I switch a lot of cities to infrastructure, as we have plenty of troops. I also remove troops from American territory.
(10) 450AD
Greece refuses our envoy again. Denver keeps them busy, as they send a number of troops there to take it. I mass-fortify St Louis and Buffalo. The people think I'm doing a great job and add to the palace. Nearly everyone is now building Sun Tzu's.
(11) 460AD
(12) 470AD
(13) 480AD
Kill some Greeks, then talk them into a peace treaty. Despite taking Denver, they're stupid enough to not insist on anything else other than the peace treaty.
(14) 490AD
Switch to Anarchy, then to Republic. Greeks start Sistine. I notice that there is a palace placeholder at Teot, which I reserve for a head start on Sistine once we get Theology in three turns. More fortification of Buffalo.
(15) 500AD
Science reduced to (I think) 50%. Still doing better than we were on Monarchy.
(16) 510AD
(17) 520AD
I watch the exploring Chinese galley procession around our shores. Theology is researched and the Oracle is obsolete. I order up Engineering.
(18) 530AD
I consider Sistine to be more important so switch from palace to Sun Tzu's in Teot. Tenochtitlan is now building Sistine (switched from Sun Tzu's).
(19) 540AD
(20) 550AD
Easyname and Mountain city have serious disorder problems. I have to order up Entertainers, but Mountain City is now starving. Cathedrals ordered in both cities.
Well in summary not a bad set of turns. We are at peace with all other Civs, and we have the Forbidden Palace up and running. And we're a republic.
We have Sistine's and Sun Tzu's under construction. Hopefully we'll get one of them.
Here's the save.

Arizona_Steve Mar 02, 2002, 05:17 PM I'm not too worried about a flip in Washington. It's a good distance from the American Capitol (at Miami) and I'm pretty sure that our culture is MUCH stronger.
If we do resume hostilities with America, I recommend taking Miami last, as any capitol shift would bring it closer to Washington, and increase the risk of Washington flipping.
BrianJ Mar 02, 2002, 07:34 PM A litle starvation and a few more troops in Washington should prevent a flip :D
With the patch enough troops prevent a flip, but how many are enough? You end up with half your army in garrison to prevent flipping! One way Firaxis made it not too easy.. :)

shdwlord Mar 02, 2002, 07:57 PM I was leaning towards war too, but since this is an SG, I like to leave as many options open as I can.
Nanook Mar 02, 2002, 08:35 PM Preturn: Moved a few citizens around to get a little more production without losing WLTKD.
1, 1130: Infrastructure.
2, 1140: Again.
3, 1150: Democracy discovered(obviously we weren't the first since it went from 6 turns left to complete to done in one turn). Instant anarchy and goverment change later, we're a democracy. The Iroquois are really pissing me off. They keep wandering into our territory with large forces. They are always polite about leaving, but its the principle of the matter. Chemistry started so we can get Cavalry and lay a beating on Hiawatha.
4, 1160: Infrastructure.
5, 1170: Ditto.
6, 1180: Ditto.
7, 1190: Ditto.
8, 1200: Chemistry discovered. Metallurgy started.
9, 1210: Guess what?
10, 1220: Notice a pattern yet?
Ahhh yes the boring buildup phase. Actually, I rather enjoy that part of the game, but its a bit anticlimatic for a SG :) I'd like to teach the Iroquois a lesson as soon as we get MT.
BrianJ Mar 02, 2002, 09:34 PM Nanook, you seem to have played the wrong game! The one posted above is from B1!
Sorry, you'll have to download and play from Steves 550 AD one above!

BrianJ Mar 02, 2002, 10:22 PM Since we are playing 2 Aztec games at once, please remember to put B1 or B2 in front of both the save and the zip file.
LKendter Mar 03, 2002, 07:49 AM Hmmm....
Exactly why I try to NOT play the same country twice in succession games.
Of course, no moves yet. :crazyeyes
Despite being in LK13, B1, B2, GSG, OGSG, RDB11 ...
I am in famine mode right now.
Of course I will probably get 3 at once in war. And since war turns take much longer ...

BrianJ Mar 04, 2002, 04:57 AM Preturn:
Consul Brian comes to power in the Aztec Republic. He notes that everyone has negatve attitudes except the Romans.
560 AD:
We sell Incense to Greeks for 80 gold plus 2gpt. Everyone else is too poor or is demanding too high prices for Engineering.
570 AD:
When did Greece take Denver?
580 AD:
The Aztec citizens love my rule so much they expand my palace.
590 AD:
We learn Engineering. The choice: Chivalry or Invention. I decide to go for Leo's.
The Egyptians and Indians are both building Sistines Chapel.
Mountain city is starving. I ahve to do something about this.. unfortunately all nearby workers are busy.
600 AD:
I notice Seattle is pumping out Regular Pikemen. I have a little chat with the Governor. He switches to marketplace.
610 AD:
Tlat is rioting. I send in the clowns. Japan joins the Sistine party.
620 AD:
At size 7, Steeltown becomes a worker factory.

Chicago is finally linked to our road net.
680 AD:
Rome wants engineering for territory maps. I decline until he can offer me a better price.
690 AD:
We complete Invention and start Chivalry!
700 AD:
Land improvement is going well. Hopefully a good mix of irrigation and mines.
710 AD:
India complains about our troops in his territory. His borders expanded to include a Jaguar warrior trapped in 1 tile. Not much I can do. India will become annoyed next turn and the warior will move automatically.
720 AD:
MMWM
730 AD:
The Greeks are building Leos Workshop! I want Leo's! (Brian stamps his feet like a little child.)
I spot a potential first contact! A border in the ocean!
740 AD:
India is annoyed at our Jaguar. It moves automatically. Can't beat that speed of troop movement!
Steel town is no longer a Steel town as the nearby Iron source is depleted. A worker starts a road to bring the iron near Philidelphia online, as we have no Iron now!
We meet the backwards Persian people! They are far behind in tech and must be isolated. They only have 7 cities so they ae on an island. I trade territory maps.
The other civs are all broke and are not willing to trade communications.
750 AD:
Iron near Buffalo is brought online.
BrianJ Mar 04, 2002, 05:00 AM And the save:

I micro-manage 2 turns off of Sun Tzu. I switch Washington to Leo's, due in 32 turns. Greece /
China have education! Not great deals but Incense to China for $48. Gems to Greece for $48.
Lot's of troop movement.
760 AD - Mountain city begins a market place. Since I micro-managed both gems to be used, I want to get max benefit.
I start research on Education. I want to get Smith's!
America starts the Chappel  Gee, we get it an couple of turns.
780 AD - [dance] We get the chappel [dance] Cascades to Leo's / Sun Tzu.
790 AD - Border Alert - Border Alert, unknown civ, must identify. What is this north of Persia?
 Mr. Lincoln is still the cry baby my daddy fought. Complains because most of our army crossed there borders
800 AD - :die!: Baltimore is now Aztec. Along with San Fransico. Miami cost a couple of horsemen, but add it to our list.
;) We contact the English, talk about a backwards people. They pay $20 for our territory map. They want to buy currency, philosphy, horseback riding, etc!
810 AD - Add New Orleans to our city list.
820 AD - GACK! China starts the observatory GACK!
830 AD - Detroit is destroyed. The fledglin Americans are dead. Our Jaguar did the job.
Palace expansion #2 for me.
840 AD - Research going to Banking. [dance] I don't believe it, but we get Sun Tzu [party]
850 AD - Science to 50%, banking down to 8 turns.
 Why did it have to be GREECE to get Leo's???????
I switch Washington to palace.
860 AD - Hangchow completes observatory.
890 AD - Dye Town is formed. We barely beat everyone to this spot.
910 AD - Contact is becoming known, so I sell contact and maps for a few bucks.
930 AD - Uh, where did Lee go?
Summary -
Newtons in Mountain city. This city is the ultimate wealth generating city we have!
The palace is Washington is for Smith's Smith's due in 8 turns.

shdwlord Mar 05, 2002, 02:05 PM Goals: I hate being behind in the tech race, I will have to fix that.
Inherited: established embassies with everyone. Greece has 7 luxuries. War weariness for them will be hard to achieve later in the game. Micromanagement of production shaves a turn off of Economics.
1) 940 Japan and Greece have signed a military alliance against India.
2) 950
3) 960
4) 970
5) 980 Indian war elephants and greek knights/horsemen sparring near dye town.
6) 990 Egypt and Greece have signed a military alliance against India.
7) 1000 Economics learned, Music Theory ordered. Washington switches to Smiths, 9 turns to go. Atlanta switches to palace for Bach's Cathedral
8) 1010 Greeks start JS Bach's Cathedral.
9) 1020 Egyptians are building JS Bach's Cathedral.
10) 1030 I buy Music theory from the Indians for 1 gold, saving us a turn of research. Astronomy ordered, 4 turns at 50% science. Atlanta switched to Bach's, 23 turns. Mountain City switched to palace.
Japanese forces pass dye town and enter into Indian territory. Indians begin Bach's cathedral.
11) 1040 Chinese are building Bach's Cathedral.
12) 1050 Indian worker purchased for 25 gold. Iron traded to china for gunpowder, 60 gold, and their world map. Economics, gems, and incense traded to china for astronomy (saving 2 turns), Chemistry, and 4 gpt. Physics ordered.
India wants an alliance vs the Japanese, which we refuse.
13) 1060
14) 1070
15) 1080
16) 1090 We have completed Smith's Trading Company.
17) 1100 Physics learned, Theory of Gravity ordered.
18) 1110 We have discovered a new source of iron.
19) 1120 Tenochtitlan switched to wall street.
20)
I had to make some deals I normally wouldn't do, but at the end of my turn, we once again have a tech lead. No one else has physics, and we are 2 turns away from Theory of Gravity. Our cities are still defended with pikemen and spearmen, I kept our gold around 1000 and all the excess went into science. Mountain City is producing the palace as a place holder for Newtons, Wall Street will be online in 16 turns, Bachs might be close, its 13 turns away. We only had a 4 or 5 turn head start on it.
LKendter Mar 05, 2002, 03:57 PM Originally posted by shdwlord

:) I am glad to see people do read my summaries ;)
With 2 gems, and 1 gold being used, plus rivers, it will become a science city. And it can still add university [hint - hint]
Looks like the resources I gained from former USA helped.
 Greece has 7 luxuries. The really will be a problem for us. Worse, the Greece cities are closest to Washington, and have the best chance for productivity.

Now Playing...
Arizona_Steve Mar 07, 2002, 09:50 PM Damn... I wrote this up nicely, and as a result of having "too many smilies" I lost the whole damn thing when I uploaded.
Here's the brief version...
Inherited turn:
Micromanage Mountain City and surrounding cities to get a few more shields. City will still grow to 12.
Atlanta is micromanaged - it's generating 5 excess food and is already at size 12, shifting some workers to forests cuts a turn off JS Bach's Cathedral.
Swap territory maps with England.
(1) 1140AD
Some of our cities are grossly overirrigated. Switching some irrigation to mines.
England and India sign a peace treaty.
Greece wants Physics and an exchange of World Maps. I send his envoy back with a territory map.
We get Theory of Gravity. Start Metallurgy.
Iroquois start JS Bach's Cathedral.
(2) 1150AD
Mountain City switched to Newton's Academy. Due in 12 turns.
Banks going up everywhere. Minor gold per turn deficit is being reduced. Now -2 gold per turn.
(3) 1160AD
Start mining a few mountains. They're great for offsetting over-irrigation until hospitals come around.
A new source of iron appears, near to Steel Town. It's already on our road net. Indeed, I think it's in the same place it started in.
(4) 1170AD
England start Magellan's Voyage.
(5) 1180AD
Iroquis want banking and exchange of World Maps. Sheesh, the AI loves to trade fairly, doesn't it? I exchange territory maps instead.
We get Metallurgy. Since we're at peace, I go for Magnetism to get us to the Industrial Age.
Iroquois start Magellan's Voyage.
(6) 1190AD
Trade Banking for Navigation with Iroquois. Looks like no-one else has a tech we don't have.
Chinese start Magellan's Voyage.
(7) 1200AD
I notice our income is up to 13 per turn.
(8) 1210AD
(9) 1220AD
We get Magnetism - start Steam Power. Great Lighthouse is obsolete.
(10) 1230AD
Japan and India sign a peace treaty.
(11) 1240AD
Greece and India sign a peace treaty.
Iroquois and Egyptions start Magellan's Voyage.
[party] Atlanta completes JS Bach's Cathedral! Woohoo!! [party]
(12) 1250AD
Exchange territory maps with Japan.
Greece declares war on us.
Give territory map to India after they offer yet another unfair world map + tech trade.
WLTKD breaks out all over our empire.
(13) 1255AD
Drop science to 60%. Now running a substantial profit.
Get Military Alliance with Egypt against Greece for 140 gold.
Ghandi wants way too much for an alliance.
We give China iron to declare war on Greece.
Japan goes against Greece for the paltry sum of 50 gold.
[party] Mountain City gets Newton's. [party] Switch to University.
I get a roof on the Royal Palace.
(14) 1260AD
I begin to move workers away from the border with Greece.
Persia exchanges world maps. A fair trade, at last.
Greece kills a few of our city defenders.
(15) 1265AD
Kill the greeks that killed our defenders.
Upgrade some pikes to muskets.
[party] We get Wall Street in Tenochtitlan. [party] Pity I had to spend gold on upgrades, so Wall Street is not operating at it's peak output.
(16) 1270AD
More Greek knights die.
Gold at +124 per turn. Trying to get back to 1000 gold to max out Wall Street.
(17) 1275AD
[party] Elite sword beats a wounded Greek knight and we get a Great Leader [party] He gets to move before the Greek counter attack and makes it past Boston. He should be safe now.
Steam Power learned, Nationalism started.
(18) 1280AD
Begin railroading. We have coal near Hill City, and another unconnected source South of Dye Town.
(19) 1285AD
Great Leader is fortified in Mountain City.
Watch as Japan sends streams of archers into Greece. LMAO!
(20) 1290AD
More railroading started.
A great set of turns!! Two great wonders, one small wonder and a Great Leader. Kudos to the rest of the team for setting this up - I was merely the lucky one who saw it all come to fruition.
Lots of notes:
(1) Great Leader is fortified in Mountain City.
(2) Upgrade units on the Greek front to riflemen once Nationalism has been researched. That should have the Greeks bashing their heads against a brick wall.
(3) I switched cities near the Greek Front to Musketmen and those further away to Knights as they completed their infrastructure projects. Some pikeman to musketman upgrades performed, therefore treasury isn't as healthy as it could be.
(4) Greece declared war on us and I obtained Military Alliances with Japan, Egypt and China. There's about 14 turns left for these to run, so no making peace with the Greek infestation before then.
(5) Priority for next leader is to get a railroad net in place.
LKendter Mar 07, 2002, 10:02 PM Man, it should be my turn ;)
Getting a thin rail net to connect cities is one of my knacks.
It there a theme here with Greece being a pain?

Railroads.. I can do that.. I may suck at luxury management but I can do Railroads :)
Can we trade with anyone else? Seems like we have tons of luxuries but no trades going..
Incense to Egypt for 2gpt, printing press and Tmap
Fur for Wmap and 60 gold? Sure why not... now Egypt is broke
No roads to our neigbour Japan? However it doesnt matter.. they dont have anything to trade.
China has money but we have nothing to trade them (1 gold for Theory of Gravity?? They must be getting it next turn or something..)
The Egyptian world map shows their intrepid explorers have colonized an island far into the sea to the northwest.
1295 AD:
Japan and Iroquois sign a military alliance against Greece!
Our knight at Knossos falls to a Greek attack.
I switch Teno from wealth to knights.
A bunch of workers are building railroads through forests!? We gain no benefit from rails in forests.. only improved land, mines and irrigation. I order them to stop.
1300 AD:
Rome and Greece sign a military alliance against Japan! Uh oh.. WW1.. :)
Greeks kill another of our knights. Our horseman protecting workers manages to stop a greek attack.
The Indians are building Magellins! Why aren't we?
Teno switched to Magellins.
1305 AD:
A Greek knight defeats our horseman and captures 2 workers! Where did they go? I have no idea..
1310 AD:
We finally win a few, killing 2 knights.
1315 AD:
We lose a couple again.. Need some muskets for protection I finally realize..
1320 AD:
The Japanese have better luck against the Greeks. Their archers kill a few Greek units trying to come into our territory. Allies are good!
We complete Nationalizm and start Industrialiation!
1325 AD:
We take Ganges! and take away a source of Saltpeter!
1330 AD:
A cutie pink Chinese Rider is spotted near Knossos!
Knossos is rasied by Japanese bowmen! We are too late..
Greeks have Cavalry!
1335 AD:
We pillage Saltpeter near Herakleia, and kill the Greek cavalry at the cost of 2 knights!
Magnetism for Military Tradition? Sure, if China throws in Democracy.. :D
1340 AD:
Rome and Greece sign a trade embargo against us!
1345 AD:
Pharsalos captured! Many Knights upgraded for 20 gold each.
Rhodes captured with new Cavalry!
1350 AD:
Denver is an American city. It is Greek. It should be ours.
Denver is ours! There are already 2 Aztec citizens? Old American citizens converted to Aztec??? Or our missing 2 workers?
I LIKE Cavalry! :D
1355 AD:
Chinese Riders knock a few defenders out of Argos for us.
Iroquois knights enter our territory!? have to see what they are up to.. I think they are at war with the greeks.. possible long automove..
Industrialization is done, starting Electricity.
Wow, we take Argos and capture 10 workers!
Some Greek cities have Riflemen now.. hard to crack.
It's not that I don't trust the Japanese.. but I upgrade at least one unit in all border cities to Riflemen.
1360 AD:
We capture Herakleia!
1365 AD:
Chicago riots! I send in some entertainers. Same with Hill City, San Fran, Pharsalos, Miami.
Argos flips to Greece
The Iroquois complete Magellins! Maybe should have used the leader for that..
Teno switches to Universal Sufferage.
We take Rhodes and Delphi! Our Army kills a Rifleman in Sparta. We are at the gates of the core Greek empire! 2 more riflemen are taken out by more cavalry. They are pumping out conscripts like crazy i these cities I think.
I think 15 turns is enough for now. I've concentrated on Military, not much infrastructure besides building rail to almost every core city. We are beating on the Greeks pretty bad now. Riflemen will make it much tougher but I've started a few cannon to help out.
Argos needs taking back, and we could get a settler down to the old Knossos city site.

LKendter Mar 09, 2002, 11:20 AM Preturn -
We need cash - NOW! I can't believe how many cities still are defended by spearman. Are we the AI? New York is maxed at 12, so I cancel Irrigation. Instead, rails to Chicago.
I switch Teno to factory, then suffarage. Some other cities switch to factory. We are in a land war, so cancel Ironclads for factories. The big human edge is railnet and factories - I want to use it!
I need to find cities to build Herioic Epic, and Military academy!
Our railnet building will really appreciate all of those Greek workers. Hill city and east has nothing! I cancel meaningless rail segments, to concentrate on the thin line to the front. Seattle was connected by rail, but building more toward it? 3 workers freed for the critical segment to St. Louis. Faster troops to the front.
Lot's of rifleman wake up, and move to the front. We need to free up the calvary. Boy is my work cut out here!
Now science - PERFECT :) Heading toward ToE.
Trading - HeHeHe - Greece is already desperate. Still war, for the moment as they won't offer cities.
Iroquois - Gems for $60, $4/t, wm.
Rome - Build a harbor you bozo - we have gems for sale.
Japan - They want Iron and SaltPeter - A real threat here
China - Well I will always buy workers, give them $25. Our pathetic rail net needs help!
[party] Gems / Incense to china from $4 to $26 a turn. Plus 180 gold - can you say unit upgrade?
England - Incense for $160 and $4/t. Gems for $18/t.
All of the extra cash upgrades 4 units. Spearman to rifleman is just so expensive :(
All of the new per turn cash allows switching to 20% luxuries.
I jump Mountain city from several beakers by putting the last gems on line.
 I can't believe DyeTown still isn't connect to the Dyes. I captured that my last round to get us a new luxury! This was one of my big reasons for the American war.
After an eternity, I am ready to hit enter!
ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG! China captures Argos.
1370 AD - Total upgrades, $100 for a horseman to Calvary. How was this guy still around?
I realize the critical city - Pharsalos - This is a spare coal city!
I fight the 1hp infantry :satan: that needs 3 more calvary to kill.
I give India Incense for a pathetic $20 - I was right, he is know polite.
Teno begins Universal suffarge - 26 turn eta.
1375 AD - Boston has +8 food, but we are irragting?
Still lots of troop movements.
Rhodes is also important - Spare Iron.
Troop upgardes - 1 spearman. Cash = $1000, exactly.
Trading - Iroqoius world map for $40.
Rome needs - Democracy, talk about a backwards civ.
Persia - They go polite for a free world map
We net $69 just for world map.
Delphi resitance has ended.
1380 AD - Our Greek slaves complete a rail segment, another ordered.
Upgrades - 1 pikeman to rifleman.
Trading - 10 bucks for maps - I guess I have milked that one all I can. China signs a peace treaty with Greece - fine by me. Idiots don't realize the goodies in Greece.
I watch the Iroqoius kill 2 conscript rifleman, but they lost around 6 mounted warriors.
1385 AD - [dance] The moment I was waiting for - Thermopylae drafts down to size 6. The 50% defense bonus is gone. It is a Aztec city now, 2 free workers as a bonus. Begin startving the city.
St. Louis, Chicago, Hill City now on the primary rail net.
To be continued - 1 1/2 hours so far.
LKendter Mar 09, 2002, 12:42 PM 1390 AD - The resitance at Therm... ends. Resitance is futile. :scan:
Troops marching on Sparta - away from the river.
Begin research on Medicine. I want ToE.
1395 AD - The work on Teno is completed. ETA is cut by 4 turns for suffarge. Next up Teot, the future home of the military academy - factory eta = 7 turns.
Miami joins the rail net.
First upgrade in a while nets 3 upgrades to rifleman.
 China declares war on the Iroquois. Half there troops are still near Argos!
Somebody killed on unit in Sparta. I love watching half a battle.
1400 AD - Well if I knew Sparta had one defender - I would have attacked sooner. 5 resitors in Sparta - GACK! A good swordsman use - put down resitors.
Well the troops we set near Thessalnocia, renamed to Thess as an Aztec city. Another Coal resource.
BrianJ captured workers earn there worth - Ganges and San Fran on the railnet.
1 spearman is upgraded.
India joins the we hate the Iroqoius club, who cares. That territory would be all 1/1 cities for us. Iroqoius sign a peace treaty with Greece - I wonder why?
New York is on-line with a factory! Heroic Epic in six turns.
The English, Greeks are building Shakespeare????
1405 AD - Resitance ends in Thess.

LKendter Mar 09, 2002, 09:00 PM WARNING -
I can't remember if I switched to Democracy.
Unless you plan to go to war NOW, the one turn of Anarchy is worth it.
shdwlord Mar 09, 2002, 11:44 PM Inherited: Luxury rate dropped to 0%, its not needed without the war weariness. Atomic Theory in 4 turns now, ToE in 5, no wasted turns in our research. We have a strong military compared to everyone :goodjob: Establish an embassy with babylon, they are still building a marketplace  China has no iron or coal, sell them iron for 48 gpt. Renegotiate gems and Incense deals to England, they will give us 25 gpt seperately, or 31 gpt as a package deal. Babylon wont give us wines for spices/gems/incense?

11) 1535 *yawn* Hello Japan, that looks like some nice land you have there.
12) 1540 Oh Cleo, yours looks nice too.
Ok, time to stop, any more turns and I might start a war just to break the momotony of doing nothing except moving workers :p

I noticed that when my workers started building railroads the first turn ;) Decided to wait until ToE was completed before I switched.
Arizona_Steve Mar 11, 2002, 07:34 AM Will play tonight after work. Maybe the monotony will get to me and I'll start a war. I seem to be doing that a lot lately :)
Now Playing...
Arizona_Steve Mar 11, 2002, 09:13 PM Steveazuma the Boring comes to the throne. This is his tale of tedium and woe... *yawn*
Inherited turn - 1540AD
Wow - virtually no micromanagement of cities here.
India and Iroquois sign a peace treaty.
Athens goes into disorder - 1 citizen turned into an entertainer.
Corinth goes into disorder - 1 citizen turned into an entertainer. New York gets a hospital. I micromanage to resume population growth at the expense of some production.
We're in that dead patch between industrialization and tanks, where there is very little in the way of new infrastructure to build. Max out rails and remaining infrastructure builds. Let someone else declare war on us :)
(1) 1545AD
Egypt and China sign an MPP, then sign a Military Alliance against the Iroquois. Egypt declares war.
England and Egypt sign a Military Alliance agains Iroquois. England joins the "We hate the Iroquois club".
We learn The Corporation and begin researching Replacable parts. Due in 5 turns.
Trying for Shakespeare's in Teot our of sheer boredom.
Therm hires an entertainer.
Start Atlanta on Battlefield Medicine. *sigh* So many cities, so little to build.
WTF is up in Corinth? 6 people, TWO entertainers?
(2) 1550AD
(3) 1555AD
Rome and Iroquois sign a Military Alliance against England. Rome declares war.
Some cities going on Wealth as we simply have nothing else to build besides military.
England gets Shakespeare's. I change Teot to Colloseum with no shield loss.
I can drop science to 70% while still getting replacable parts in 3 turns.
(4) 1560AD
Japan wants an embargo against the Romans. We give them our territory map.
Well what do you know? Japan signs a peace treaty with Rome. Silly AI.
I NEED something new to build. All our core cities are on wealth now.
(5) 1565AD
China and Rome sign a peace treaty.
(6) 1570AD
Replacable parts in 1 turn. Drop science to 60% and net 367 gold this turn.
Exchange World Maps with India.
We get Replacable Parts. Begin Refining to find out where the oil is. Science back up to 80%. 5 turns.
This is weird. We have multiple sources of SaltPeter connected and the advisor is suggesting we build LONGBOWMEN??? Huh?
We also have multiple rubber sources already connected.
(7) 1575AD
High speed workers ROCK!!
All cannon (17 units) upgraded to artillery.
All Riflemen (71 units) upgraded to infantry.
Egypt wants MPP. I give them a territory map.
(8) 1580AD
Oh joy. I get to press the "F" key 88 times.
I find a few pikemen lying around and upgrade those too.
Egypt and England sign a military alliance against Rome. Egypt declares war.
Japan and Iroquois sign a peace treaty.
(9) 1585AD
Athens switched from factory to cathedral. It's needing two entertainers right now.
[party] We complete Hoover Dam [party]
(10) 1590AD
Ridiculous trade from Babylon. Wines for Dyes and 56 gold per turn?? I don't think so.
(11) 1595AD
We learn Refining. Start Steel. 5 turns at 80% science.
(12) 1600AD
A quick look around our land shows up three sources of oil.
Trade coal to Babylon for Communism. They're stuck out on an island out of harm's way.
I start Washington on army cranking duty.
[party] Atlanta completes Battlefield Medicine [party]
(13) 1605AD
LMAO. I call up Mao to see if he has espionage on offer, and he calls us BACKWARD?? We're three techs ahead of him.
Many cities on wealth changed to police station.
England and Rome sign a peace treaty.
(14) 1610AD
(15) 1615AD
Rome wants us to ally against Egypt. I give him a territory map.
We learn Steel, start Combustion. 5 turns at 80% science.
Our connected source of oil is exhausted. I didn't make anything that required it. This is a REALLY dumb "feature" of the game. Fortunately there is plenty more, but I will leave it unconnected.
(16) 1620AD
Rome and China sign a military alliance against Iroquois. Rome declares war.
(17) 1625AD
Turn science down to 70% and still get combustion in 4 turns.
English want ROP and MPP. I give them our territory map.
(18) 1630AD
Japan and England sign an MPP.
Iroquois want an embargo against Rome. We give Hiawatha a territory map.
Washington produces an army. Starts another.
(19) 1635AD
(20) 1640AD
Steveazuma sleeps at the keyboard, his hand automatically sliding and clicking the mouse as he moves workers around. He dies of boredom after the "Hit enter or space bar to continue" appears.
Combustion in 1 turn.
Next person can start building up infantry and artillery, then tanks once we get Motorized Transportation.
Nanook Mar 12, 2002, 11:26 PM Sort of. The move went smooth, only one issue really. One of my cats disappeared the day of the move, but he eventually showed up and he's fine now. I finally got my router up and running earlier today and my cable modem is running sweet on it. I still have some unpacking and things to do, but I am available to play whenever my turn comes around again.

Nanook Mar 15, 2002, 12:48 PM Preturn: Whats up with the Wealth everywhere? Half of those cities are able to build useful improvements. Tax rate micromanaged to increase gold without sacrificing time on combustion. Sold off a stack of luxuries for gpt, bought Ivory from the English with the proceeds. Upgraded a pikeman(??) to Infantry.
1, 1645: Combustion discovered, mass Production ordered. Tax rate finagled to get it in 4 turns. Still running in the black. Infrastucture here and there.
2, 1650: yawn
3, 1655: "The rampaging Egyptian forces have destroyed the Romans." Tragedy. Not.
4, 1660: As cities finish the last of their improvements, they're switched to artillary in preparation for later conquest. It seems we've completely explored the entire map. Those two wandering sea units ordered to return home.
5, 1665: Mass Production finished, Motorized Transport ordered. Some artillery built. The domestice advisior wants to build longbowmen(????). More artillery ordered. The finished artillery are being garrisoned just outside of Miami, in case we decide to attack the Japanese later.
6, 1670: Persia offers Espionage for Sanitation. I counter, ask them what they'll give us for Sanitation, and get Espionage, 40 GP and WM. Seattle and Mountain City ordered to build the Pentagon and Intelligence Agency, both to be completed in 6 turns. Army built, waiting for tanks to load.
7, 1675: "The source of oil has been depleted." Will have to connect the other.
8, 1680: yawn
9, 1685: Motorized Transport discovered. Amp War started. Tanks being built in tons of cities.
10, 1690: Global warming feh. Thats the first time I've ever had global warming in one of my games in Civ III. There are a couple stacks of workers set to pollution cleanup, but the pollution is coming faster than they can clean it. The first of the tanks have been built. A tank army is started.
3 turns til amp war. After that is flight and then the modern age is entered. There are a bunch of workers semi-automated, doing pollution cleanup. When they finish they'll move onto the next spot otherwise they'll come back to manual control. There's 16 artillery located outside of Miami, and 4 tanks, 3 of which are in an army and the fouth is waitin on the Pentagon to join said army.
BrianJ Mar 15, 2002, 05:36 PM Well that makes 3 games I'm up in.. hopefully I'll have time this weekend!

Funny, both EX2 and this one are up to the same year, but this one is nearly finished the Industrial Age, while in EX2 we are just entering it!
BrianJ Mar 17, 2002, 05:12 AM Preturn:
Not much to do here. Brianzuma take control of the Aztec democracy in times of peace. Other
nations are beating up on the Iroquois but we are staying out of it.
One thing to note is that Japan and England have an MPP. If we were to go to war with Japan
we would need a navy to beat up the English ships that are bound to harass our shores.
Wow, we are fantastically wealthy! Why do we need 350gpt? I should raise the science/luxury
rate a bit and convert some cities from wealth.
1695 AD:
Japan and England have now allied against the Iroquois. Japan declares war.
1700 AD:
We finish the Intelligence Agency and the Pentagon. I fill the armies, building an Infantry
army in the empty one.
I start to expand the road net in the old Greek lands. Pollution seems to like forming in
the hardest to reach places.
1705 AD:
Iroquois and China sign a peace treaty.
We learn Amphibois War and start Flight.
1710 AD:
Corinth riots. Hired more entertainers. They are complaining about the Draft.
Sparta riots. I hire entertainers again.
1715 AD:
A Japanese Cavalry enters our territory, just passing through.
More roads and irrigation built. I'll have to check for over irrigation later.
1720 AD:
POllution patrol, more army buildup.
1725 AD:
More of the same. Established spies. Japan, China and Persia were all caught! China will
trade 1160 gold and 12gpt for Scientific Method! Since some civs already have it, and this
is an amazing deal, I take it! China is bribed 15 gold to become polite.
Silks from Persia at 400 gold and Scientific Method. England offers all their money (46
gpt, 100g) for Scientific Method. Why not take their money too?
Babylon wants Refining and SM for their Wines. I try a SM+cash instead, but the asking
price is too high. (700g ad counting)
1730 AD:
Iroquois and England sign a peace treaty.
We learn Flight, enter the Modern Age ad start Fission. We need the UN.
Mountain City is now on Palace placeholder for UN.
A spy is now in Japan, Persia and China still caught theirs. I bribe them back to polite.
Being filthy rich is good.
1735 AD:
More infrastructure. I'm building roads and rail to Japanese cities. I wonder why. Egypt
has the most up to date army. Japan is weak (17 cavalry, 6 Riflemen.) We want Egypt on our side if we go to war. We now have a decent navy, all the better to crush the English Man-o-wars if they join the fight against Japan.. Oops, did I say that out loud?
1740 AD:
More buildup
1745 AD:
More of the same.
Well I played 11 turns or so, If I kept going to 20 I could probably finish it with a Diplo win. I'll leave it up to the next leader whether he wants to hold on for UN or go to war. War with Japan wouldnt be much of a challenge. Even Egypt wouldn't be.
CHina is big, and unknown in power. I couldn't get a spy in there.
This is most likely my last turn. I cant see it going much further unless someone decides to go for conquest or domination.
Good Luck Lee! You'll most likely finish this.. Remember Palace placeholder in Mountain City.
