BrianJ Feb 23, 2002, 07:49 PM Og the Great takes command of the Russian Stone-age Despotism.
3000 BC
Og oversees the movement of workers near Moscow.
2950 BC:
Moscow completes a Scout. Starts a Settler.
Our scout spots a goody hut.
2900 BC:
The Goth tribe teaches us Warrior Code.
2850 BC:
Og takes a nap.
2800 BC:
Our #2 scout spots a strange orange line to the south-west.
2750 BC:
A Strange blue line suddenly appears next to the orange one. Og is intrigued. The orange line belongs to an empty city called York. Too bad we only have a scouot down there!

A Strange lady names Elizabeth doesn't like our defenceless scout in her territory! We agree to move.
We offer to trade Warrior Code for Alphabet but she laughs in our faces!
2670 AD:
We get a warrior from a goody hut.
We meet a fellow named Bismark of the Germans. Og introduces himself as Catherine of the Russians, just to confuse him. It works.
We have more tech than him, he has nothing to trade.
2630 BC:
2590 BC:
2550 BC:
A settler starts out from Moscow towards the incence and Germans.
2510 BC:
2470 BC:
A barbarian follows our scout away from Russia..

2270 BC:
A scout spots a barb camp far to the south. Lots of unclaimed land down there.. And the Engl;ish and Germans are building towards us.. figures!
2230 BC:
2190 BC:
Og slips in his cave and cracks his skull. A new leader is sought!
The settler is on automove towards the river. You can stop him and redirect, but I thought it looked like a good spot. Maybe the coast by the furs is better?
A warrior is dispatched to take out the barb camp.. Lots more exploration needed.
Dragoten Feb 23, 2002, 10:31 PM I would play but I don't think I am experienced enough....I am still working on beating a Warlord game :(
Maybe next time
:)
Dark Sheer Feb 24, 2002, 12:47 AM I will try to play some turns but I can only post in about 18 hours. If anyone want to give it a try then go ahead. I can always play later. ;)
Isma'il Latif Feb 24, 2002, 12:53 AM I'll play for a while.
Isma'il Latif Feb 24, 2002, 01:46 AM Isma'il takes control of Russia in a bloody, yet unnoticible revolution.
1-2150 Our warior attacks, and is killed by a barbarian.
2-2110 Masonary discovered. Moscow builds spearman.
3-2070 Moscow - Keiv road built.
4-2030 Isma'il goes exploring.
5-1990 Chinese and barbarian warriors get close to Russian territory. Moscow-St. Petersburg road started.
6-1950 Minsk founded up north near China. Claimed three cows. Barbarian enters Russia. Barbarian nears Russia.
7-1910 Barbarian fights warrior at Keiv. Warrior wins and becomes a veteran. People build more on palace.
8-1870 Barbarian attacks Keiv, we win. Keiv builds spearman. Trade China Warrior Code and 20 gold for the wheel.
9-1830 Moscow builds settler.
10-1790 St. Petersburg builds spearman.
11-1750 Worker builds part one of moscow-st petersburg road.
12-1725 China enters russian territory. Russia warns China.
13-1700 China leaves Russia. Germany complains about scout in germany. Scout removed. Barbarian chases scout #2.

16-1625 Two barbarians now chase scout. Contact made with Aztecs.
17-1600 Scout enters aztec territory to get away from barbarians.
18-1575 Monetzuma complains about scout. Mysticism discovered. Trade mysticism+20 gold to china for alphebet. Trade mysticism+masonary to england for iron working. St. Petersburg-Moscow road done.
19-1550 St. Petersburg-Smolensk road started.
20-1525 Suprise Seijuk raiding party kills a scout.
Overall, I founded two citys and discovered quite a bit of land. You can build settlers in moscow and st. petersburg or go for temples if you want.
shdwlord Feb 24, 2002, 09:04 AM got it
shdwlord Feb 24, 2002, 10:05 AM preturn: ouch. Minsk way to close to Beijing, it will flip to them. Moscow hasn't started the pyramids? 60 turns to the pyramids, at 1525 bc, is umm, roughly 170 bc. :aargh: Smolensk switched to barracks. Moscow switched to the pyramids. Minsk switched to temple.
Chinese found Tsingtao right next to the horses.
1) 1500
2) 1475
3) 1450
4) 1425 St petersburg finishes temple, begins barracks.
5) 1400
6) 1375
7) 1350 Kiev finishes temple, begins barracks.
The English are building the pyramids.
The Aztecs are building the Oracle.
8) 1325 England declares war on us? :( Writing learned, lit ordered.
9) 1300 pop rush temple in minsk. Beijing border already out 3 spaces, minsk 3 spaces away from Beijing.
10) 1275
11) 1250 rush barracks in minsk. Hopefully the temple will keep it in our hands long enough to get some vet units from here before it flips.
12) 1225
13) 1200
14) 1175
15) 1150
16) 1125 road to iron complete
English get the chinese to go to war with us.
17) 1100 Minsk rushes the spearman it was working on as 2 warriors step next to it, and it only has a warrior for defence.
China captures minsk with the first warrior.
18) 1175
19) 1150
20) 1125 Smolensk finishes barracks, starts spearman.
Literature is 15 turns away, if we keep running without a treasury. Pyramids are still 23 turns away, moscow grows in 6 turns, that will cut it down some. That is still 450 BC until the growth, very iffy. hopefully we will get lit in time to switch if we do lose the pyramids. England wants keiv for peace. China wont talk to us yet.

The pyramids will be built next turn. England just occasionlly launches raiding parties. The next person will have a great opporitunity to attack china some more. China is the biggest problem here. It's amazing the swordsmen have survived so long...
LKendter Feb 24, 2002, 12:23 PM I am taking some turns!
LKendter Feb 24, 2002, 01:45 PM As expected Pyramids finish before I move a piece.
550 BC - The Great Library is begun, needing 34 turns. I kill Moscows growth to save 6 turns, but until there is an aquaduct, who cares?
510 BC - Our nearly upgraded swordsman kills that English warrior sitting by Kiev. I can tell I am desperate for cash, selling world maps for $1. Every buck gets us closing to another warrior --> swordsman upgrade.
490 BC - We kill 2 more English units losing a conscript warrior, and the still insist on Kiev?
470 BC - Odessa is formed, the last city to be built for a while. A spearman kills one of our swordsman, but dies and gives our two workers from the dead settler. This is sad, spending time to get $2 from German / Aztecs for world map, to try and upgrade a warrior to swordsman.
450 BC - China makes a mistake, splitting there forces. Our Archer picks our a lone warrior and becomes elite. Our swordsman kills a lone archer. China kills a lone swordsman, but waste 2 archers trying to take Smolensk.
430 BC - The Aztecs have a warrior army already. Our scout is not happy with what he sees. I kill science to get the cash to upgrade that warrior. England now wants us to give Literature. What a bozo.
370 BC - 2 dead Chinesse archers, at no cost.
330 BC - :( Odessa falls. A bad day in Russian history.
310 BC - Our swordsman kills the Archer who defiled Russia soil.
290 BC - I am getting sick of England demanding Kiev. I start research on Polytheism, it has the highest price. Maybe it will have some trade value?
270 BC - I am forced to crack the whip in Kiev. The city is going to be stuck at size 2 for a while. :(
Minsk is ours again.
250 BC - I cost us an archer, but 2 more free workers from China.
210 BC - A lone China archer lands by St. Pete.
170 BC - Peace with China. If it holds, who cares? I want to concentrate on England.
We get - Worker, $24, World Map, Code of Laws, Math, and Poly. Germany demands $17 / territory map - I give it to him, as we can risk a fight with civ that has horses. England completes the Oracle.
UNREAL - I kill 2 more English archers, and they still want Kiev.
110 BC - Odessa is formed, near Germany. If Heidelburg will flip, we get horses.
Summary -
Minsk is intenionally frozen at size one to reduce the risk of a flip - don't change it This could be our base for a future war with China.
Goals - Once the big stack of units arrive, kill England.
AVOID WHIPPING - Our towns can't take much more
meldor Feb 25, 2002, 09:03 PM I have it.....
meldor Feb 25, 2002, 10:59 PM 90 BC out of the rugged Ural moutains comes a new leader for the sorely pressed Russian empire. Do to what some say was a bloody coup the people of Smolensk are prepared to riot but are convinced to watch cheap play instead.
70 BC Army marches toward Kiev. Monty demands Territory map and 19 gold. Not wanting fight on two fronts we agree (but vow to get 100 times back in revenge).
50 BC Army arrives at Kiev. Two English spearmen are spotted trying to sneak into our beautiful lands, probably set on pillaging the wonder improvements made by past leaders. Two swordsmen nearby are dispatched to give them a pointed lesson.
30 BC Noting that Russian Scientist can't possible come up with anything other than better way to pick nose before Meldor gains access to the fabled Great Library (believed to be buried in rubble somewhere near Moscow), He elects to set science down to 10% to get income of 12gpt. He prays that the last ruler was wise enough to start the search early or he maybe turned into an instrument of vile design by unhappy scientists. First sword attacks spearman and dies a horrible death (not a good start to Meldor's first militery action. Army is sent towards York as Meldor prizes those shiny things in the hills around the city.
10 BC Elite swordsman steps up and kills the first spearman. Army still moving.
10 AD Elite sword kills second spearman. English no longer foul the our glorious lands.
30 AD Army still heading for York
40 AD Army still headed for York, Meldor grows restless and asks " Are we there yet?". Generals look on with distain.
50 AD Army still headed for York. Meldor whines about long trips and no entertainment saying "I'm bored".
70 AD Army still moving to York, Generals gag poor Meldor.
90 AD Army arrives outside of York, Meldor can talk now but only quitely.
110 AD Veteran Swordsman attacks defending spearman and kills him, gets promoted to elite! Second vet sword attacks spearman killing him and getting promoted to elite! Vet Archer attacks archer and wins capturing York and getting promoted to elite! Meldor is very happy as he can now play with shiny babbles in hills but complains that without a road he can't get them back to Moscow. A road is started to please him. A temple is started to expand borders and keep it from flipping to Germany.
130 AD The Great Library is discovered outside of Moscow in old ruins. The scientist grumble that Meldor got lucky guess and still wnat to pick noses.
150 AD The secrets to Currency, Republic, Moarchy, Construction, and Monotheism are all in ruins of Great Library. Scientists claim they pretty much knew that stuff anyway but where just waiting for the right tiem to tell Meldor. Sights set on Sistine. But it will take 40 turns for the tech no matter what. Aztecs cascade unto finishing the Hanging Gardens.
170 AD The Grand Elite Army of the Battle of York starts its march on Warwick having healed its wounds in York. Unfortunately, the last vet swordsman is left behind to defend the shiny babbles.
190 AD China cascades into finish of the Great Wall. This will make it really hard to attack them as Meldor desires to without having lots o' bombardment. He will leave this to future rulers and will countinue on the path of Englis conquest that was set by his former comrades. Several Chinese settlers/spearman pairs pass through on the way to English lands.
210 AD Chinese start city south of Kiev on coast that should soon relize the groly of the Russian culture and depose the spiteful Mao.
230 AD More movements. Road work continuing towrds gems.
250 AD Meldor is pulled from bed at wee hours with news that Canton has revolted against Mao and wisely chosen to join the wondrful leadership found in the Russian empire. Meldor immediately dispatchs a close friend as governer and sets them to build a temple to keep them from flipping back as they also are directly next to the hated Chinese capital. Hieldeburg is now surrounded on three sides by the glories of Russia and hopefully will soon follow the wise people of Canton in jioning the correct side. The people now demand a foridden palace and Meldor starts it in Smolinsk to be a place holder for the Sistine. It will finish one turn before the tech so a future leader will have to be wise enough to adjust the production to slow it by two turns. English archer spotted by elite army marching towards Warwick. Elite archer attacks and kills pitiful English wantabes. News reaches Meldor that from that simple battle comes a great leader of thepeople "Ivan". He is immediately recalled (some say Meldor was jealous, but he denies this). Ivan is dispatched with escourt towards York, to be sent were needed for future good.
260 AD After much excitement last turn, Meldor gets to catch up on much needed sleep.
270 AD Two english archers are spotted south of Kiev by swordsman forming second army. Unfortunately he con not attack and therefore will probably die defending wonderful soil, however news filters back that he successfully repelled the sorry English archers and though blooied will live to fight another day. Elite army arrive outside Warwick.
280 AD Warwick captured by elite Swordsman, Army moves in and waits for further orders while healing up. One more elite sword is almost to Warwick to join then after passing off the duty of escorting Ivan to a lower unit. Meldor slips quitely out of town having maxed out his retirement fund. Rumor has it he went to build a fishing village southwest of Moscow on the coast but only time will tell.
Things left to do - I have added culture improvemnts to several cities especially Odessa and Kiev to get Heidleburg to flip. If we can keep York we may get it to flip sooner and also the Germany city to York's south (Munich, I believe). Remember the forbiden palace and don't let it finish before the Sistine can be built as we don't want the forbidden palace there. I added furs to our growing list of luxes and the road (with German assistance) is about finished to bring in the gems. That will give us three and will hold us until our cities get a whole lot bigger. I did not switch out of despot (I was waiting for war to end as we had almost no military at all and could not afford to lose production. There is an army in Warwick and a second army forming up south of Kiev (keeping English raiders out for now). We probably will have enough units shortly to finish the English war and still protect ourselves so we can move towards getting rid of china, or maybe taking Heidleburg by force and then nailing China with knights. Ivan is almost to York and will be able to take the new road quickly into more friendly territory. I was thinking that he could snag at least on more good wonder for us after the Sistine.

shdwlord Mar 06, 2002, 03:44 AM got it
shdwlord Mar 06, 2002, 04:48 AM Inherited: tweaked production. Odessa switched from knight to marketplace since it doesn't have a barracks. All cities building barracks switched to marketplaces/temples since Sun Tzu's will come online in 25 turns. Ack!! Establish embassy with China, they will have Sun Tzu's in 19 turns. No way to shave 6 turns off production, only choice to get it would be to give up the sistine chapel. Everything we can switch too except palace wastes 170+ shields.
1) 840
2) 850
3) 860
4) 870
5) 880
6) 890 Chemistry learned, metallurgy ordered. We need cossaks to reclaim Sun Tzu's.
7) 900
8) 910 dyes traded to germany for contact with the Indians, the Persians, and the French. World maps traded. We are way ahead of them in tech. Established embassies.
9) 920
10) 930 The Germans are building the sistine chapel.
11) 940
12) 950
We get the Sistine Chapel in 6 turns, Sun Tzu's in 13, and Leonardo's Workshop in 26. Chinese will get Sun Tzu's at least 6 turns ahead of us. Next leader will have to decide which is more important to him, the happiness of Sistines, or the free barracks from Sun Tzu's. We could possibly get both if we build sun tzu's, and the chinese cascade to Leo's instead of Sistine's, but that isn't a gamble I would want to take.
meldor Mar 06, 2002, 06:04 PM I've got it.....

1290 AD - The thorn in my side falls - Tsingtao.
Finnaly, our northern and southern territories can connect. Need culture quickly.
1295 AD - Xinjian falls.
Summary - Plan for Wall street. Newtons next in Moscow. 2 science wonders in Moscow will be a big plus.
Hold the Chinesse capital to last. There are some stray China cities. See if can get them in a peace treaty, the backstab the capital. If a China city is anywhere on the board - flip danger.
Post your intention to play, and complete your turn with 24 hours.
Up to 20 turns. At least once person between your turns.
Garsonga Mar 08, 2002, 05:30 PM This game's been quiet for a couple of days, so I've got it. I'll post in a few hours.
Agenda: 1. Peace with the Chinese
2. Newtons in Moscow
3. Save money for Wall Street
Garsonga Mar 08, 2002, 05:41 PM Lee,
I need the 1295 save, you posted the 1150 save in your last reply.
So I don't have it till we get the 1295 save.
Garsonga
LKendter Mar 08, 2002, 06:33 PM Well I am not the first, and won't be the last.
joespaniel Mar 08, 2002, 06:37 PM Memory like an elephant, eh?
Good game you guys got going here.:goodjob:
Meldor - You asked for the 4000BC save in the Babylon SG, and its there for you now. Page 3 or 4, I forget... ;)
Have fun with it. :D
LKendter Mar 08, 2002, 06:39 PM Well it is an anyone plays game.
You can go after Garsonga ;)
Garsonga Mar 09, 2002, 07:10 AM Well I took 10 turns here's how they went:
Preturn - No changes everything looks good.
1300 AD - Nanking falls, no losses one Cossack wounded.
Shanghi falls, again no losses no wounded, China won't talk to us
1305 AD - Much movement of workers and troops. Moving gallry to try and intercept a Chinese gallery coming up the coast near Oxford.
1310 AD - Sending a swordsman, Oxford is defended by one spearman ?? I was afraid of that, China lands a longbowman next to Oxford.
1315 AD - Oxford spearman fight bravely but to know avail. Longbowman is wounded but Oxford is taken and razed!! They will pay for that. Swordsman attacks ....
and kills the longbowman, Oxford is avenged!
1320 AD - Upgrade some spearmen to Musketmen, Longbowman pillaging near Hastings is killed by our Cossaks. Upgrade some spearmen to Musketmen. China still won't talk to us! Loading up a gallery with two Cossacks to attack Tatung
1325 AD - MMOW, Law of Gravity discovered, started Newtons in Moscow. Bumped Luxs to 10% to help with war weariness.
1330 AD - We love the Czarina day celebrated in many cities. Upgrading more Pikemen and spearmen to Musketmen. China still won't accept our envoy.
1335 AD - More worker movement, sending gallery toward Tatung loaded with 2 vet Cossacks, Germans started Smiths, Persians start Smiths, we're only 12 turns away. Persians start Magellans.
1340 AD - Sverdlosk founded were Oxford once stood, began Temple need to send troops it is not defended.
1345 AD - Magnetism discovered, start Nationalism, New era begins, Nationalism discovered, Chivalry discovered start steam power.
So ends the term of Prime minister Garson. Couple of notes, The gallery on the coast near Sverdlosk is heading for Tatung, guess we need to convince the Chinese to talk. A Galleon
is being build in the city north of Sverd.. there is a swordsman and a Cossack waiting in the city to reinforce the two Cossacks headed to Tatung if needed. Treasury is at about 1200 g and were making about 20 g per turn. Steam power due in 8 turns.
Good luck to the next ruler.

Garsonga Mar 09, 2002, 07:20 AM With any luck this is a picture of our kingdom
meldor Mar 09, 2002, 07:55 AM I have it......
meldor Mar 09, 2002, 02:08 PM Preturn - Adjust profuctin in many cities. We have lot o' luxes and no one buying them. With a bunch of Muskets begging to be upgraded we go to the trade screen.
Aztecs get Incense for Wolrd Map, 40g and 9gpt
Persia gets Furs for World Map, 4g and 12 gpt
Persia gets Incense for 13gpt
Persia gets Dyes for 12gpt
India gets Furs for 60g
Upgrade all Muskets to riflemen.
Science upped to bring Steam in one trun early
1370 AD - Steam arrives Industry next Science back down to 50% to build treasury back up.
1385 AD - Our golden age ends
1395 AD - Newton's completed in Moscow.
1400 AD - Smith's completed in Smolensk. Industry complete start towrds Sanitation. Take last Chineese city close by and sign peace treaty.
1420 AD - Bismark gets Incense for Printing Press, World Map, 40g and 3gpt. Persia gets gems for World Map 50g and 15gpt. Wall Street is started in St Petersburg.
In between the highlights there were a lot of improvements built. Every worker that cam free is now working on connecting all of our cities by rail. Several cities are now working on factories. I had thought of building up to go after the Germans, but when I saw all the help the cities needed I decided to hold off until the Rails are finished and we get hospitals for big cities. All in all it was very calm building turns.
meldor Mar 09, 2002, 02:10 PM Forgot to mention that during next preturn, check all of the trades deals as all those started at my preturn are about to expire.
Readylander Mar 09, 2002, 02:52 PM I've got the game and will play some turns.
Readylander Mar 09, 2002, 08:41 PM Pre-turn:
After consulting all the advisors I decide:
1. Need to get some luxury imports to increase happiness and hopefully drop the luxury tax rate from 10% to zero.
2. Can drop the science rate by 10% and still get Medicine in 3 turns, this saves 50 gpt.
3. Universal Sufferage is available and nobody else is building it yet, need to make a plan to get it. Lots of competition for Magellan's. Based on the map and our current situation I am going to put a higher priority on US than Magellan's.
4. Our military needs some building before we can stage any wars but our infrastructure will receive my first priority. I want to get some factories built, then some hospitals, then the military.
I start with reviewing all trade agreements as meldor suggested:
Persia is currently getting 3 luxuries for 37 gpt. Change this to 3 luxuries for spices, wm, 18gpt and 2 gold.
Aztecs are currently getting incense for 9 gpt. Change this to incense and 15 gpt for ivory.
I drop the luxury tax rate from 10% to zero saving 59 gpt and most of our cities will be WLT?D, don't need any more luxury imports.
Furs sold to India for 12 gpt and 40 gold. India is only willing to offer 8 gpt and 5 gold for incense so I decide to wait a couple turns to see if they will increase their offer.
We are now making 113 gpt.
Hastings production changed from courthouse (corruption is low) to marketplace to increase revenue and happiness.
Canterbury changed from colleseum (it is currently stuck at size 4) to factory in 17 turns. Will have to get some workers clearing the jungle here, it has some good production potential.
Smolensk changed from cathedral to factory in 10 turns.
Tatung changed from rifleman in 66 turns to temple in 46 turns.
Xinjian changed from courthouse to harbor. It is stuck at size 4 with no growth. After the harbor, then aqueduct, and then courthouse or marketplace.
Chengdu is building a temple, may try to rush this.
Heidelburg changed from colosseum to rifleman.
Newcastle changed from courthouse (corruption is low) to marketplace to increase revenue and happiness.
Sevsatopol changed from university to harbor as we are stuck at size 7.
Tblisi changed from univerisity to aqueduct as we are stuck at size 6, then go for harbor.
Yakutsk changed from swordsman to temple, another front line city with no culture.
Beijing changed from univerisity to marketplace.
York changed from bank to factory.
Canton changed from university to factory.
After all the production reviews I sort all the cities by shield production. Moscow is tops and the factory will be done in 13 turns. Rushing it will cost 824 gold but I decide it is worth it to get a jump start on Universal Sufferage. We will be back up over 1000 gold in the treasury before Wall Street is finished in 3 turns.
1450AD
Moscow completes factory and starts on Universal Sufferage, 30 turns, but growth and railroads will decrease this.
Dropped science rate another 10% without delaying discovery of medicine.
1455AD
Macao finishes library, starts on harbor
Universal Sufferage is already down to just 23 turns away.
1460AD
Finish Medicine, change to Sanitation, after bumping science rate to 70% it is just 5 turns away.
Wall Street is completed in St Petersburg, start factory.
Sell Incense to India for Democracy, wm and 80 gold.
Raise science rate another 10% to reduce discovery of sanitation to 4 turns and we are breaking even.
1465AD
London finishes rifleman, starts on university.
1470AD
Nanking finishes library, starts on courthouse.
Warwick finishes aqueduct, starts on harbor.
1475AD
Persia would like a MPP and ROP, even up. I decline, not ready to get into a war that they start just yet. They are cautious so I give them 25 gold instead and now they are polite.
Germany and Aztecs sign a MPP.
Minsk finishes marketplace, starts on courthouse, may switch this to hospital next turn when sanitation is completed.
Drop science rate by 10% for one turn, no effect on finishing sanitation next turn.
Rush factory in Kiev. We need some cities to produce military. I don't like the looks of Germany and Aztecs
1480AD
Sanitation completed. Decide to go towards Electronics, Hoover Dam would be real nice.
Beijing completes marketplace, starts on hospital
Kiev finishes factory, starts on hospital
Heidelburg finishes rifleman, starts another.
1485AD
Zinjian finishes harbor, starts on aqueduct.
Smolensk finishes factory, starts on university.
Tblisi finishes aqueduct, starts on harbor.
1490AD
York finishes factory, starts on hospital
Minsk switched to hospital
Sevastopol finishes harbor, starts on university.
1495AD
France wants a MPP and ROP. Turn her down as well.
Canton finishes factory, starts on hospital.
1500AD
Warwick finishes harbor, starts on worker. We need more improvements and pollution will be starting any time now.
1505AD
Science rate dropped 10%, electricity still due in 2 turns.
1510AD
London finishes university, starts on factory.
Kiev finishes hospital, starts on rifleman. Our military is finally going to grow.
Newcastle finishes marketplace, starts on worker.
Tsingtao finishes marketplace, starts on aqueduct.
1515AD
Electricity is completed, start on Scientific Method. Science rate increased to 70%, we will finish in 5 turns, we are making 45 gpt.
Smolensk finishes university, starts on cathedral.
Odessa finishes factory, starts on cossack.
Tientsin finishes aqueduct, starts on harbor.
Yakutsk finishes temple, starts on library.
Warwick finishes worker, starts on factory.
1520AD
Our palace is expanded.
Newcastle completes worker, starts on university.
1525AD
Magellan's is completed in Nottingham, start factory.
1530AD
China wants to trade world maps, I tell him to take a hike.
Canterbury finishes factory, starts on rifleman.
No cascade to Universal Sufferage, we are only 7 turns away.
Drop science rate to 50% for the next two turns to maximize cash.
Rush temple in Chengdu at cost of 16 gold to avoid revolt in 2 turns due to growth.
1535AD
York completes hospital, starts on rifleman.
Chengdu completes temple, starts on marketplace. This will need to be rushed before too long.
1540AD
Scientific Method discovered, Atomic Theory started. Raised science rate to 70%, will complete in 9 turns.
Canton finishes hospital, starts university.
Liverpool completes aqueduct, starts marketplace.
Kiev switched to Theory of Evolution, 19 turns away.
1545AD
Odessa completes cossack, starts worker.
It looks like the Aztecs are about to attack. They have troops down in the area of Warwick, Nottingham and Canterbury. Mostly jag warriors, a couple longbowmen are the worst threat. There are cossacks fortified in many of our cities and there are some swordsman that can be used for attack as well. Almost all of the cities are protected by at least one rifleman and three cities are producing more. I don't think they will be much of a threat. The worst part is that they have a MPP with Germany who I have seen has some cavalry.
Most of the trade agreements are up for renegotiation. You will lose one of the luxury imports if war breaks out with the Aztecs.
I think we still need more workers, there are lots of improvements that need to be made. I tried to get all the cities hooked up by rails but didn't quite make it. I tried to look for opportunities to buy workers from other civs but didn't find any available.
Universal Sufferage is 4 turns away in Moscow. Theory of Evolution is 18 turns in Kiev, if Hoover Dam becomes available before then I would switch Kiev to Hoover and build Theory of Evolution somewhere else.
I turned on animations so I could see what the Aztecs were up to, turn them off if you don't want them.
Good luck to the next leader.

LKendter Mar 10, 2002, 08:21 AM Playing a few rounds
LKendter Mar 10, 2002, 10:25 AM Preturn -
Animators are fired.
We are wonder maniacs. We did great for the middle age rush.
We are the ONLY ones building Suffrage and Toe. Both in cities with factories :goodjob:
Wake cossack in cities not on the rail net, and park them on trains.
I agree with the previous leader - we need more workers!
I change several cities to factory. The big human advantages is the AI doesn't realize the importance of factories.
Diplo check - China still hates us.
Persia and Germany need coal :)
The only tech they have, that we don't - Communism, the worst tech in the game.
No workers for sale, net a few bucks for map.
1550 AD - Mmow, building stuff. Placing guards on exposed workers with aztecs nearby.
Ivory cost us $1 more a turn - I think we can afford it.
1555 AD - Our workers complete the Liverpool rail net.
Starting to fortify the borders - clear hint to Aztecs - go away.
1560 AD - I have found a use for swordsman - the make great border guards ;)
MPP with Germany - Go ahead Aztec - attack me!
Suffrage is completed in Moscow - Cathedral is ordered.
The palace is expanded.
1565 AD - York is on the railnet.
Main worker efforts at Nottingham - fp - great production city, and Kiev (ToE).
Revolution for Democracy - 7 turns of Anarchy - GACK
Check trading possiblities, 80 bucks for Incense isn't great, but ...
Dyes to France for $3/t.
Still no workers sale - I popped a few out, but we need a lot more.
1570 AD - The pain of Anarchy.
Now this annoying - we are in Anarchy, but the domestic advisor is complaining about sanitation needs?
1575 AD - boring
1580 AD - Idiots, the Aztecs declare war on us.
Really, really stupid, since Germany will turn on them thanks to the MPP.
:flamedevi: Germany declares war on the Aztecs.
Of course, it starts in the middle of Anarchy :(
Casualities - a couple of swordsman, and stolen workers.
The Aztecs have calvary, I saw Germany kill one.
1585 AD - The counter attack begins. Results
Dead Aztecs - 6 jaguar, 1 pikeman, 2 rifleman, 3 spearman, 2 longbowman
Dead Russians - 1 cosack, 1 swordsman
Tamuin is captured.
Well, I think Russian won round 1. The only reason more Aztecs didn't die, was my Germany allies killed some before I had a chance.
In a true fit of evilness, I sign an alliance with China vs. the Aztecs.
:satan: That should permantly solve any flip problems.
Palace expansion again.
Shakespeare's thearte begins, who cares?
Nothing attacked by Aztec's except for a road.
I think the Jaguar army died by Munich.
1590 AD - Round 2
Dead Aztecs - 1 pikeman, 1 jauger, 1 spearman. No Russian losses.
Xinjian on the road net.
1595 AD - Tzin is captured at the cost of 1 cosack.
Indian was us???? to pay him for an MPP. Give him a free map instead.
:flamedevi: The Aztecs kill the Chinesse. Good riddance.
ARGGGGGGGG. Can't get a RoP with Germany.
Your sneak attack vs. England is well known
A previous player really screwed us here.
1600 AD - Marching a bunch of Cossacks toward the last city we can take.
Summary - We are royally screwed. I don't know when the RoP was broken, but I never would have signed an MPP with Germany had I know
that. We now have a worthless war with the Aztecs. Best bet - sit out the war, improve our infastructure.
Post your intention to play, and complete your turn with 24 hours.
Up to 20 turns. At least once person between your turns.
meldor Mar 10, 2002, 11:56 AM I checked back through the posts and no one said they signed an ROP with England. As a matter of fact, I will point to the reign of BrianJ and LKendter during the time from 550AD to 750AD and the last English war.
550 AD - BrianJ signs an ROP with Germany, at this time we have a peace treaty with England.
660 AD - Lizzie objects to a settler wandering into her territory - so no ROP in force at that time.
710 AD - BrianJ declares war on England after peace treaty expires.
750 AD - LKendter destroys the last English city and they are no more.
If these tomes of history are correct the Germans can only be mad about two things.....1) BrainJ declared war one turn too early and Biz didn't like that or.... 2) Biz had a thing for Liz and is mad we sent her packing......
This is assuming that BrianJ didn't sign an ROP with England right before the attack...which would have made no sense at all....
I will play later if no one has taken it (THIS IS NOT A GOT IT MESSAGE). Unfortunately duty calls...
meldor Mar 10, 2002, 02:59 PM I now have it.....
meldor Mar 10, 2002, 06:11 PM Preturn - I don't get the same message from Bizmark....gt ROP for 600g
Sanitaion sold to India for Free Artistry 80g 13gpt
Sanitation sold to Germany for 210g
Sanitation sold to Persia for 100g and 6gpt
With ROP in place I wake all of the Cossacks and send them towards Aztlan.
1605 AD - Cossacks march on Teato in the south and Xochicalco in the north.
1615 AD - Teato is ours and no one is left to the south of us but Germany.
1620 AD - Cossack dropped on coast pillages only source of furs for Aztecs. Xochicalco captured and then lost.
1630 AD - Aztecs and Germany sign peace treaty....we still have MPP with Germany.
1635 AD - War weariness begins to be felt as Lux sliders starts to climb.
1640 AD - Seige of Xochicalco coutinues.
1645 AD - Xochicalco swaps back and forth again but this brings the Germans back into the war. Not that they did much the first time except lose all of there units trying to take the city with dyes in it.
1655 AD - finally get a Cossack to sucessfully pillage the Aztecs only source of Iron. They will either have to buy it or do without.
1665 AD - Xochicalco is ours again, hopefully for good! Tlaxcala (the city with the dyes) falls to us as well.
1670 AD - Complete Sheakespeare's Theater...just for fun.
1675 AD - Peter the Great comes to us during clean-up around the city of Tlaxcala. He is brought into the city and an army is form of Cossacks.
1680 AD - Army gets first victory and we start the Military Academy, Heroic Epic, and Battlefield Medicine.
1695 AD - Start seige of Tenochtitian 2 rifles are killed and only Cav show as defenders.
1700 AD - We capture Tenochtitian and the Hanging Gardens with it. This also cuts the Aztecs off from all of their Ivory. troops begin to Move towards Tlatilolco and all of that Ivory.
Notes: War weariness is pretty strong right now. I thought we could get 4-5 cities fromthe Aztecs without switching governments. After we take the Ivory source we may want to allow them some peace and us a chance to rest some protesters.
Hoover Dam is due in 13 turns.
Intelligence Agency is due in 2 turns.
Militery Academy is due in 8 turns.
Battlefield Medicine is due in 10 turns.
Heroic Epic is due in 3 turns.
If you want to see some wonders built this wil be the turn for you. There is no competition on any of the Great Wonders.
LKendter Mar 10, 2002, 06:17 PM Well, nothing of my 5 games is coming due :(
I am grabbing this again.
meldor Mar 10, 2002, 06:42 PM PS - I didn't do any adjustments for the Hanging Gardens. You can probably lower Lux some and/or adjust the cities.
LKendter Mar 10, 2002, 07:42 PM Preturn -
Well 600 dollars for a RoP is still absurd :(
All we got were some 1/1 cities.
Immediate peace with the Aztecs. We are at an absurd luxury rate, and still on the verge of Goverment collapse. A bunch of 1/1 cities aren't worth it. Even the Ivory isn't.
Cancel the MPP with Germany.
We get $140 & $18/t from the Aztecs for Peace.
Palace expansion.
1705 AD - Nanking has so much extra food, I can't even count it. Begin massive mining project up there.
Intelligence agency completed.
1710 AD - German relations collapsing, they are now annoyed. Blasted RoP ended at the wrong time.
Heroic Epic Completes in St. Pete.
1715 AD - Minks also has absurd amount of food. Begin mining there.
1725 AD - mmow. Science decision - replaceable parts. Better military, and faster workers.
1735 AD - mmow. Military academy is completed.
1745 AD - mmow. Replaceable parts sooner than expected - Start on steel.
Battle medicine is completed.
1750 AD - mmow. Massive unit upgrade to Infantry.
1752 AD - We get to hit 'F' quite a few times. Plus, the standard mmow.
Hoover dam is completed.
:satan: Salzburg flips to us.
1762 AD - mmow. Researching combustion.
Meldor, hanging gardens in LONG useless. It dies with railroad.
Summary - Another Aztec war would collapse our Democracy, don't bother
Post your intention to play, and complete your turn with 24 hours.
Up to 20 turns. At least once person between your turns.
Readylander Mar 10, 2002, 10:05 PM I've got the game.
Readylander Mar 11, 2002, 01:24 PM Pre-turn:
Need to rush the temples in the recently acquired Aztec cities, especially the one near the ivory, we could really use the additional luxury that our cultural border expansion will bring. Lots of improvements needed, will try to buy some workers from other civs if possible.
Need more infantry for defense, I would like to have two in some of our more strategic defensive locations.
Most of our trade agreements can be renegotiated. Everyone but Montezuma is polite with us.
Trade agreement renegotiating:
India, furs and incense for 20 gpt, now 33 gpt, 176 gold, wm
Persia, gems, furs, dyes and incense for spices and 33 gpt, now furs, incense and gems spices and 170 gold. I hate when this happens. They just won't offer as much as they were paying. They will only offer and additional 17 gpt for dyes but India is willing to pay 24 gpt so India gets them. Persia would pay 27 gpt for coal but I hate to trade strategic resources and we are in great shape financially so they don't get any coal from us.
Other civs appear too poor at this point to squeeze any more money from them.
Temple rushed in Tenochtitlan. Border expansion may get us ivory.
London production switched from police station to hospital. City is stuck at size 12 with very little corruption.
Nanking production switched from bank to hospital. City is stuck at size 12 and we don't need cash at the moment.
Hastings production switched from bank to cathedral. City is experiencing some unhappiness.
Temple rushed in Tlaxcala.
Xinjian production switched from factory to marketplace. Only producing 4 shields at this point, factory was 56 turns away.
Temple rushed in Xochicalco.
Newcastle produciton switched from police station to hospital. City is stuck at size 12 with very little corruption.
Tsingtao production switched from courthouse to university. City has very little waste.
Sverdlovsk production switched from library to harbor. City is stuck at size 2.
Tientsin production switched from bank to university.
Sevastopol production switched from police station to hospital. City is stuck at size 12.
Macao production switched from factory to aqueduct. City is stuck at size 6 and only producing 7 shields at this size.
Yakutsk production switched from factory to aqueduct. City is only size 5 producing 5 shields.
Increase science rate to 60%, reducing time to combustion to 3 turns and we are still making 50 gpt.
(1) 1770AD
We discover a new source of oil on the little island of Salzburg.
(2) 1772AD
More worker movements, concentrating improvements from the capital and forbidden palace outwards.
(3) 1774AD
More worker movements
(4) 1776AD
Complete Combustion, start Flight
(5) 1778AD
Cultural borders expand and we get some ivory!!
Entertainment tax is dropped from 10% to zero.
(6) 1780AD
(7) 1782AD
(8) 1784AD
India declares war on Persia
(9) 1786AD
(10) 1788AD
Flight discovered, start research of Mass Production
Switch many of the high shield producing cities over to construction of airports.
(11) 1790AD
Aztecs and Persia sign military alliance against India and then the Aztecs declare war on the Indians
France and India sign a military alliance against Persia and France declares war on Persia
Then India comes to us for an embargo against the Aztecs. I can't think of any good reason to accept so I send him on his way.
Persia and Aztecs sign a military alliance against Germany. Persia declares war on Germany.
(12) 1792AD
(13) 1794AD
(14) 1796AD
Mass Production discovered, Motorized Transportation research begun, will take 4 turns and we are still making 174 gpt.
The Pentagon is started in Odessa.
Decide it is time to take out some of the German cities so I sign a military alliance against Germany with Aztecs and RoP with Aztecs, they give us 15 gpt and wm
Take Leipzig, Munich, Bonn (which produces a GL,Stalin), Dortmund, Hanover all at the lose of 2 cossacks
(15) 1798AD
Took New Berlin, no loses
(16) 1800AD
Took Brandenburg, New Leipzig, no loses
(17) 1802AD
Took Nuremberg and Bremen with no loses
(18) 1804AD
Completed Motorized Transport, started Radio
Took Stuttgart and Germany is wiped out.
(19) 1806AD
Worker movements
I am going to leave it here for the next leader. I think we are in good shape and can probably win anyway we want. We are ahead in tech, have a good treasury and income and a decent military. Our navy and air force are lacking though.
The troops need to be organized, cossacks are pretty much where they were when the war ended. All cities have at least one infantry, with two in some of the strategic locations. Most military production is now tanks, though none have been finished yet. Lots of work yet to do with workers, especially around the former German cities. I concentrated on improving cities around our capital and forbidden palace, Nottingham.
Great Leader, Stalin, is in Moscow, and an empty army is in Odessa.
Many trade agreements will be due for renegotiation in a turn or two. Maybe we can get another luxury out of someone.
Good luck to the next leader.

LKendter Mar 13, 2002, 03:57 PM This is an anyone plays game -
Post your intention to play, then post within 24 hours.
Dark Sheer Mar 13, 2002, 06:30 PM Ok. I managed to play 20 turns and here is a brief summary of what has happen.
1806AD - Pre-turn.

1814AD - Palace expanded
1822AD - War is declared on Persia as a result of MPP with France.
1830AD - First Army landed in Persia land.
1832AD - Assault on Bactra begin!
1834AD - Second shipload of army landed near Bactra. Sunk a Persian Destroyer.
1836AD - Discovered ecology and going for Synthetic Fiber. Looks like persian has no rubber as they start to draft rifleman. ;)
1842AD - We captured Bactra. Persia lost a number of cavalry in their counterattack. Russian forces hold.
1844AD - Samaria captured. Persia lost a number of cavalry & infantry in their counterattack.
1846AD - Discovered Synthetic Fibers and going for Fussion. Upgraded all tanks to Modern Armor.
For whoever is playing next, there are alot of units in Bactra and Samaria which includes Mech Inf and Modern Armor and all Persia has is infantry and cavalry. An airport has also being rushed at Bactra if more unit is needed. Have fun!! :cooool:
Here is the savegame.

have left it at the beginning of the turn before any unit mvmts as I've run out of time
at the stage of choosing a victory and finishing it off
enough firepower to win by either dom or conq :king:
space build started and no opposition anywhere near :scan:
culture victory will happen in about 50-60 turns anyway unless someone sells lots of culture buildings :egypt:
cheers

meldor Mar 15, 2002, 08:38 AM figure I can get in one last turn before Lee finishes it off......
LKendter Mar 15, 2002, 03:27 PM Well I was going to take it ....
I wanted to try for the cultural.
The only victory type I haven't gotten is 100,000 culture.
meldor Mar 15, 2002, 03:34 PM Lee, go ahead and take it.....I thought it would be closer if you took it after me.....As it turns out the wife has plans for me.....if you want it go ahead, post got it and I will go after you. Otherwise I will play in about 5 hours.
LKendter Mar 15, 2002, 03:46 PM Downloaded, and playing tonight.
Post last tonight, or early tomorrow.
LKendter Mar 16, 2002, 11:48 AM Write-up really doesn't matter - Game is won.
Peace with Persia by death of Persia.
Space ship launched in 1914 AD.
Interesting watching the replay - That annoying English city of York almost had to be a free settler. It also shows what a rough start Russia had. Look at our cities in the BC time frame.
The game winner - the fp in former England, and all of those new cities.
We could have won by domination also, with taking out the Aztecs.
Summary - Score = 2444
History will remember you as Catherine the Conqueror.
