Civ 4 has the Event log - Chat log - Battle log button build in, which shows a lot of information about the battle to both sides.

Is that sufficient or do you want compulsory hand-written battle logs ?

I'm a traditionalist. I'm used to a handwritten battlelog, and the Civ IV one is not clear. I would prefer to see
3.0 Archer attacks 2.0 Warrior. Archer loses, warrior is now 0.4 .

i see what you mean but this way i believe is less likely for mistakes to happen, did we ever have this discussion in the civ4 MTDG?

Handwritten battlelogs were orginally in the proposed ruleset, but it was mentioned that the combat log was in the game. So the required handwritten ones were taken out, then the ruleset was voted upon.

This is just some useless extra work, because the in game battle logs are some much better.
