Research begins on Pottery. Shadow Tiger moves SW and finds a wolf. Dark Puma moves S,S Inter-turn: The wolf runs away! http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/5696/civ4screenshot00999gs.th.jpg (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot00999gs.jpg) http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/288/civ4screenshot00983ph.th.jpg (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot00983ph.jpg) http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/2071/civ4screenshot00979os.th.jpg (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot00979os.jpg) DaveMcW May 22, 2006, 06:26 PM Bonus feature: The view from our palace. Furthermore, There is a Rvier that Runs directly through those mountains..methinks Sirian is a wise one who has planned that. So much so That I am Willing to bet if our Southern Neighbour Settled in place we can trade directly via that River  lost_civantares May 23, 2006, 05:10 PM Or it could be right to the barbarians! Are you sure that he will make it that easy for us? ;) (But then again it would seem that we are getting to the point where we will find our neighbor...) Memphus May 23, 2006, 05:33 PM Or it could be right to the barbarians! Are you sure that he will make it that easy for us? ;) (But then again it would seem that we are getting to the point where we will find our neighbor...) Although we can't disucss in the actuall turn orders thread, you realize the move SE with our unit will put him on the jungle hill and he will see a wall of three more mountains correct? If your plans were to then go NE to the plains hill and continue east, then that is the right move. I jsut want to make sure no one thinks that there is a passable space to the SE (if you open the save you can the 3 mountains  ) lost_civantares May 23, 2006, 10:25 PM Hmm, your fog gazing skills are better than mine, I only saw that when you pointed it out... Will correct post, thanks. It look thought that the mountain range will stop just out of visible range in the east. Is that right do you think? DaveMcW May 23, 2006, 11:08 PM If you get the right perspective, you can see the shadow of the mountains. Here is a drunken birds-eye view. http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/1578/civ4screenshot01009sh.th.jpg (http://img47.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01009sh.jpg) The mountains do seem to stop (or maybe just move back) in the east. lost_civantares May 24, 2006, 04:58 PM Had a little too much rice wine? Yah, that's what I Think I saw too. DaveMcW May 25, 2006, 07:24 AM Shadow Tiger moves SE Dark Puma moves SE Inter-turn: the wolf pops up NW,NW of the jungle hill. http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/940/civ4screenshot01028mq.th.jpg (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01028mq.jpg) http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/1262/civ4screenshot01015ml.th.jpg (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01015ml.jpg) It looks like the tile SE,SE of Shadow Tiger is a mountain too. Memphus May 25, 2006, 06:29 PM Well I don't Know about our Defence Minister but Here would eb my moves over the next 2 turns (Red Turn 1, Blue turn 2) lost_civantares May 26, 2006, 05:38 PM For the southern warrior I agree, there is bound to be a reason that the mountain range is there. As for the northwestern warrior, ultametly I agree, but here are some other thoughts about what I am thinking: As seen in this screenshot (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot00983ph.jpg), there is only a little dip in the water, which is samwiched on both sides by land. This is other potential resources that we can get (which is not very pressing at the moment since we already found copper, but what we are concerned about is the length of the mountain range, and where we can get through, so this is what I'm thinking (In wonderful paint no less!): Memphus May 26, 2006, 06:51 PM Yeah that move set looks goo to me, ultimately maximizing the speed at which this can be done by hitting forests along the way :goodjob: DaveMcW May 27, 2006, 12:42 PM Shadow Tiger moves NE. Dark Puma moves SE and discovers horses! http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/3696/civ4screenshot01110jd.th.jpg (http://img154.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01110jd.jpg) http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/9969/civ4screenshot01105uw.th.jpg (http://img154.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01105uw.jpg) Memphus May 28, 2006, 06:55 PM Due To a Vacationing President  , I will be assuming Responsibility to Play the save If anyone has any objections to this please let me know. If not until May 31st I will play the save which will most likely be 2~3 turns General_W May 28, 2006, 09:49 PM Go for it! Memphus May 30, 2006, 05:58 AM Turn 24 2040 B.C. Shadow Tiger Moves SE and discovers a small passage to a world unknown (Looks Like a very important furture choke point) Dark Puma Moves SE to the Hill and Finds a Hut :goodjob: , Since he plan was to Continue SE anyways (and I couldn't Resist) The hut was popped netting 5 more experience. Inter Turn: The Worker (Peter Grimes) Finishes, lots of action on the score board. Foreign Report should be interesting DaveMcW Jun 01, 2006, 08:28 AM Shadow Tiger moves south. Dark Puma moves SE,SW. Research begins on Mystisicm. Dark Puma moves SW,SE and finds a hut (NE,E). Shadow Tiger moves SW and finds a hut (NW,NW). Dark Puma pops 1 Barbarian Warrior from the hut. Peter Grimes moves into Epsilon Eridani. Interturn: The barb warrior moves to the tile NE of Dark Puma. http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/2936/civ4screenshot01421qq.th.jpg (http://img130.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01421qq.jpg) http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1585/civ4screenshot01415mk.th.jpg (http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=civ4screenshot01415mk.jpg) Kylearan Jun 13, 2006, 04:11 AM Hi, now that there's a barb warrior roaming around, I realize that our capital is undefended. Er...if we are really planning to build a library next, when do we plan to withdraw our scouting warrior to protect the capital? And won't we have to suffer from unhappiness next turn, as our citizens will get angry about being unprotected ("we demand military protection")? In that case, I'd say we should build a warrior for MP duty first as fast as possible, even before growing! Nevertheless, I propose staying where we are with our warrior. That way, chances are high that the barb warrior will attack him next turn, which will give us near-perfect odds of winning that fight (in forest, across river - only the hill bonus is missing :p). -Kylearan Memphus Jun 13, 2006, 07:22 AM The Warrior is Scheduled for after the Library and will be built in time to combat the "we demand Military protection" That is actually already accoutned for in the 4  (3 for population 1 for being undefended) So we can grow to size 4 first (which happens interturn) and then we are at 5 :) and 5  :) Kylearan Jun 14, 2006, 02:51 AM Hi, The Warrior is Scheduled for after the Library and will be built in time to combat the "we demand Military protection" [...] So we can grow to size 4 first (which happens interturn) and then we are at 5 :) and 5  :) Hm...my gut feelings say that it's not optimal to artificially keep your capital below its possible maximum size just to build a library earlier. :hmm: Wouldn't it be better to quickly build the warrior first and then the library, letting the city grow one more? But I'm very impressed with your detailed projections so far, so maybe you have researched both alternatives and this one turned out to be better. :) -Kylearan Memphus Jun 14, 2006, 07:25 AM Hm...my gut feelings say that it's not optimal to artificially keep your capital below its possible maximum size just to build a library earlier. :hmm: Wouldn't it be better to quickly build the warrior first and then the library, letting the city grow one more? -Kylearan We won't ever actually stop growing. But until the Library is done our new citizen will be on the Mined plains hill for +4 :hammers: (because let's face it 1 :hammer: a turn sucks and we are behind in production) And then once the second hill is mined one Citizen will move over there giving us +9 :hammers: a turn :) I havn't yet sat down and redone the numbers (wedding :crazyeye: ) because we actually had a turn where we were short 1 :food: (but gained 2 :hammers:) But don't worry I had neevr planned to stop the growth of our city :goodjob: This was due to a silly thing known as the Auto AI ;) DaveMcW Jun 14, 2006, 08:59 AM Hm...my gut feelings say that it's not optimal to artificially keep your capital below its possible maximum size just to build a library earlier. :hmm: Wouldn't it be better to quickly build the warrior first and then the library, letting the city grow one more? We are capped by :health: as well as . We could put an extra unhealthy citizen on the floodplains for a gain of 1:commerce:, but we would get even more by finishing the library. Kylearan Jun 14, 2006, 10:07 AM Hi, We are capped by :health: as well as . We could put an extra unhealthy citizen on the floodplains for a gain of 1:commerce:, but we would get even more by finishing the library. My gut feeling was more along the lines of having an additional citizen to put on a forest for the additional hammers to complete the library sooner. But I haven't looked as deeply into this as Memphus and you, so thanks for reassuring me that we are on the optimal track! :goodjob: -Kylearan DaveMcW Jun 15, 2006, 07:32 AM Shadow Tiger moves south. Dark Puma fortifies. Peter Grimes starts mining the northern hill. 4th citizen in Epsilon Eridani works the mined southern hill. Inter-turn: Dark Puma defeats the barbarian! However to do so I need a confirmation that currently as of the beggining of turn 33 we were sitting at: Library 19??/90 :hammers: (I can see we are at +5 :hammers: turn) Growth 7??/28 :food: (I can See we are at +3 :food: turn Science 43??/50 :science: at +11 :science: turn (I know about the Prince difficulty modifier and will account for that) If someone could confirm that would be fanatastic :) General_W Jun 20, 2006, 08:49 AM Hey Memphus at the START of turn 33: Library = 19/90 (+5) Growth = 8/28 (+3) Sci = 59/71 (+12) *finishes on the IBT, starts Meditation 0/114 Hope that helps! :salute: Memphus Jun 20, 2006, 12:32 PM Perfect Thank you!! Wow 1.42 For a tech modifier from the base that is large. Myst: 50 Base *1.42 = 71 :science: Med: 80 Base *1.42 = 114 :science: Assumign the same rate: Priest: 60 Base *1.42 = 85 :science: CoL :350 Base *1.42 = 497 :science: That seems high for CoL (and our Oracle date is much sooner than we can research that) can someone confirm these beaker numbers? Memphus Jun 20, 2006, 12:50 PM Ok here is the breakdown to maximize growth production and commerce over the next 30~ turns...the only problem we are behind on being able to get CoL in time for Oracle Completion...Thoughts? General_W Jun 20, 2006, 03:12 PM I apologize if I'm just horribly misreading/misunderstanding your table, but weren't we talking about getting a Scientific Great Person, and building an academy? Are we not doing that now to get the Oracle faster? Obviously a Scientific Great Person would change the numbers significantly if we added an Academy to Epsilon Eridani. DaveMcW Jun 20, 2006, 03:26 PM We can convert 4:hammers: into 3:commerce: by taking a citizen off the hill and turning him into a scientist. From a short-term production standpoint this is inefficient, but losing the CoL slingshot is even more inefficient. Long-term the scientists give us an academy which is very much worth it. We can chop forests to free up more hammers for conversion to beakers. The extreme sacrifice is to cancel the settler build. Memphus Jun 20, 2006, 03:27 PM We were discussing that but then the vote ended up with buildign library Settler Oracle as the 3 next big builds. In the event that we forced 2 scientist we would have +6 GP points a turn. It would take 17 turns from the turn we complete the Library to receving a Great Scientist. Now, 17 turns from our Library completion Date is: 1640 B.C. So as you can see it is quite late, and in the meantime we lose out on those citizens when we need them most (building a settler) Let's say we were to force 2 scientists: That would put our settler build time at approximately 20 turns instead of 8 I had figured the plan woudl be build settler build oracle force 2 scientists since we would have a second city under way by then Hope that clears it up :) To Not clutter this thread anymore the Discussion shall be moved here: Discussion turns 21-40 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171322&page=3) DaveMcW Jun 22, 2006, 07:46 PM We discover Mysticism.
