View Full Version : Oooh, Easter Egg! BeefontheBone May 20, 2006, 04:25 AM Sir Not-appearing-in-this-mod, anyone? :) wilboman May 20, 2006, 04:29 AM I'm fairly sure he was in 1.0 as well... loki1232 May 20, 2006, 06:52 AM ... He's in there half as a joke but also for a game purpose. Chammadai May 20, 2006, 07:55 AM Yeah, he was in 1.0. I don't know if this one was included in the previous version cause I used to play without sound, but I got really surprised when Malevolent Designs got researched... :) Tycoon101 May 20, 2006, 08:04 AM I don't know if this one was included in the previous version cause I used to play without sound, but I got really surprised when Malevolent Designs got researched... :) *Shudder* Is that the tech with the conveyor belt converstion...:ack: Well... There are Never-The tech that cannot be researched, and Chicken Itsa- That made me laugh quite hard. But I doubt that there are any new Easter Eggs in this version. TheJopa May 20, 2006, 11:53 AM There are many easter eggs (Not new, though), mostly refered to Monty Python. Look at Religion civic, Social Order... If anyone played 0,60, Tim the Enchanter was in. Tycoon101 May 20, 2006, 01:18 PM The Guy from Beavis and Butthead was there for No Education Civic. And I found an awesome one! Go into the civlopedia, look up buildings, and look for "Freak Show". It has a picture of Michael Jackson as its symbol  . TheJopa May 20, 2006, 03:03 PM I was laughing sooo much about that one! YNCS May 21, 2006, 09:03 AM Sheelba, one of the leaders of the Clan of Embers, is probably named after Sheelba of the Eyeless Face (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheelba_of_the_Eyeless_Face) from Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser books. H.GrenadeFrenzy Jun 06, 2006, 11:49 AM damn editor......Treants are an easter egg right I mean I could be mistaken but I believe D&D is the source because Ents are from Tolkien and The Ancients look like they should have been these same people in FfH1 but then again I could probrably see some radical stories in the near future to scare children out of becoming Tree Hugging Greenies not that I mind tree hugging.......known a few people like that whom have made my favorite people list and never left.....hahaha left it.....left,right,left,right,left.........if nobody got that it was indeed a satirical joke about politics and american culture.........Treants and tree hugging don't mix; "You messin with my cousin,".....yang yang yang.........."News flash....Angry Tree Folk weilding chainsaws, forcibly removed from lumberjacks, take the law into their own limbs.....the death count is still rising.........this is the worst interspecies massequere ever seen as the Tree Folk hed into San Fransisco"...from the Law Between Spaces by Joseph Phillip Darker II mindlar Jun 06, 2006, 01:16 PM I really like the Michael Jackson icon for the freak show. H.GrenadeFrenzy Jun 06, 2006, 01:37 PM Everbody else always finds them first....and then points it out to me on continuous loop.....maybe I really am in...............if you don't laugh ....it isn't important. I'm thinking only b is likely, but if it is really a or c, feel free to lie to me and say it is 'b'. TheJopa Jun 07, 2006, 03:13 AM Art was tank, mud golem is worker which can cast firebals if built in city with blasting furnance. Quote for malevolent designs is no lonfer in but quote for inquisition (Our weapon is suprise, fear and suprise...) is from MP flying circus as I directly asked Kael two months ago. And cow catapult sound is from Holy Grail, Frenches from that castle wall. Octopus overlords religion is named after website. And Kael job *is* C, he said that long time ago, and I think A or B isn't NPC, he said that also but I don't remember which one, C,D,E weren't player characthers and Yvain the Wood Elf is named after Woodelf team member, I think. I choose A because I know B was in game but I think as NPC, but a well respected one (That orc with schreeching woman head on stick) kevjm Jun 07, 2006, 04:19 AM *****2. Horacio Jun 07, 2006, 05:03 AM I'm ashamed to say I'm not even sure what UU means... At least I know the answer to this question ;) UU stands for Unique Unit Horacio Jun 07, 2006, 05:06 AM Quote for malevolent designs is no lonfer in but quote for inquisition (Our weapon is suprise, fear and suprise...) is from MP flying circus as I directly asked Kael two months ago. The Malevolent Designs quote is back since 2.012 Kael Jun 07, 2006, 05:26 AM Oops I had to boost the Monty python question as their are actually 4 audio tracks from Monty Python in the mod. woodelf Jun 07, 2006, 05:45 AM I assume "Run Away" when you attack loki is from MP. I only wish he said it twice, "Run away, run away!" OT - my email notification says "Jesus Christ" from right after the rabbit beheads the first knight. Send me email! I love hearing it. ;) Kerrang Jun 07, 2006, 07:38 AM A quiz to see how well you really know FfH. Good luck! (no cheating!) **raises hand and begins jumping up and down emphatically** Oh, Oh, Mr. Kael, Mr.Kael! Pick me, I love a good quiz! 1. Why does Lugus hate vampires? Because they bite... er, no, because they suck, yeah, thats it. 2. Who killed Einions wife? Einion had a wife? I thought Einion was a chick... 3. Who is the Momus? Shouldn't the question be who's your Daddus? 4. What is the rarest summon (only one UU national unit can summon it)? Demon, I think, only the infernals can summon it, right? 5. What was the unit art of the trojan horse in early version of FfH1? My guess would be the Trojan Rabbit, or a giant wooden badger. 6. Which civilizations workers can cast fireball in the right situation? Uh Luichurp, I think. I know they get all the kewl Golems, and I am pretty sure the worker that casts fireballs is a Golem worker, so I am going with Luichurp. 7. What are the 4 Monty Python audio samples in the mod? Of course there is the Malevolent Designs sample, also the Inquisitor sample. I don't recall any others, but there should definately be one on the Belsaraph catapult. 8. Which objects pedia entry is: "Now available with underbody neon lighting, spinner rims and a spring loaded carbon brush suspension that allows you to "bounce" each wheel individually or together. Perfect for a night of pimping or out killing those heathen Doviello. (warenty does not cover fireball damage)."? Ack, it is a chariot unit, I know that much... 9. Who did Kyorlin kill? Buckwheat. 10. What object in FfH is named after a website? I would have said Octopus Overlords, but that really isn't an object... And 2 no one will know so you will need to guess: 1. My personal favourite is Bastradam, although Argenteria comes in at a close second Kael Jun 07, 2006, 09:07 AM [tab]Here is an update with the ones you guys have so far: 1. Why does Lugus hate vampires? No one has gotten this yet. 2. Who killed Einions wife? Nikis-Knight was mostly correct with Valledia, although she just ordered the death. The guy that actually did the act was Sammuel. 3. Who is the Momus? No one has gotten this yet. 4. What is the rarest summon (only one UU national unit can summon it)? No one has gotten this yet. 5. What was the unit art of the trojan horse in early version of FfH1? As you guys said it was a Tank. You can imagine the surprise of early players when they saw a tank roll up beside one of their cities (ignoring rival territory no less). 6. Which civilizations workers can cast fireball in the right situation? Yeap. the Luchuirps Mud Golem can cast fireball if the city they are built in has a Blasting Workshop. 7. What are the 4 Monty Python audio samples in the mod? They have all been named: Inquisition, Malevolent Designs, the Balseraph catapult attack sound and Loki's run away sound. Yeah, it is a chariot, specifically the Malakim Chariot. SeZereth made such a cool skin for it that I couldn't help thinking of it as a pimped out chariot. 9. Who did Kyorlin kill? No one has gotten this yet. 10. What object in FfH is named after a website? "Object" may have been misleading (from the programming side everything is an object) but the answer as people have said is the Octopus Overlords religion. [tab]And 2 no one will know so you will need to guess: 1. FfH2 is loosely based on a D&D campaign, which of these characters was a player character in that campaign? [tab]a. Cassiel [tab]b. Jonus Endain [tab]c. Orthus [tab]d. Perpentach [tab]e. Yvain the Wood Elf The answer to this is actually Orthus! I wanted to base a campaign (I ran a few) on the casting of the Armageddon spells and the gradual coming of the end times. Because of what was going on in the world (humanity on the brink of extinction, cities being wiped out, monsters roaming the land unhindered) it would have limited the players options to cast them as humans. They would have been drawn into the conflict on one side or the other and pushed along without much of a chance to chart their own course. So instead I cast them all as monsters. Orthus was an ogre, there was also a troll, a hobgoblin hunter, and a goblin that knew a few spells. As monsters they got to view the unfolding events from the outside and do what they wanted. Sometimes they helped people out, sometimes they stole from or attacked their settlements. The story gets really complex after that but the short answer is that Orthus is the only character in that list (there are several more in the mod) that is based on a player character. Cassiel and Jonus were both NPC's in the game, Yvain was named for Woodelf and Perpentach was created for the mod. 2. What is Kael's job in real life? [tab]a. Animal Gynocologist [tab]b. Computer Problem Fixer [tab]c. Member of a door to door adult cinema acting troupe [tab]d. Retired Naval Officer now turned Traveling Lecturer [tab]e. Swat Team Sniper Very good memory to those that remembered that I said im a member of an adult cinema acting troupe. Unfortunatly it was a lie and of the 5 options none of the interesting ones are my real job. I fix computer problems. kevjm Jun 07, 2006, 09:27 AM 4. The kraken?? If not, it must be something the soul eater or witchdocter summons  loki1232 Jun 07, 2006, 09:57 AM And 2 no one will know so you will need to guess: 1. FfH2 is loosely based on a D&D campaign, which of these characters was a player character in that campaign? a. Cassiel b. Jonus Endain c. Orthus d. Perpentach e. Yvain the Wood Elf 2. What is Kael's job in real life? a. Animal Gynocologist b. Computer Problem Fixer c. Member of a door to door adult cinema acting troupe d. Retired Naval Officer now turned Traveling Lecturer e. Swat Team Sniper You've actually told us these before. Both c. Well you only said the second one, but you also said that None of the leaders except that Sheaim one were played, and the Woodelf is named after a designer, so its pretty obviously Orthus. Silverkiss Jun 07, 2006, 10:12 AM 1. Why does Lugus hate vampires? Lugus hates vampires because the first victim of the first vampire, Alexis i think is her name, was a Lugus´ priest. Kael Jun 07, 2006, 10:16 AM 1. Why does Lugus hate vampires? Lugus hates vampires because the first victim of the first vampire, Alexis i think is her name, was a Lugusī priest. Yeap, Alexis was the one doing the killing. Lanthis was the name of the priest of Lugus that became the vampires first victim, back early in the Age of Dragons. It was like the 6th generation of men, so it was early on. Horacio Jun 07, 2006, 12:38 PM 4. Must be the Balor, only Mardero can summon him Kael Jun 07, 2006, 12:43 PM 4. Must be the Balor, only Mardero can summon him Nope, any summoner can summon the balor with the right promotions. The sad part is that only one unit can summon this creature and its a custom model by Chalid, so its really neat art, but not many people have seen it. loki1232 Jun 07, 2006, 03:44 PM Aww i was so hoping that Kael was a SWAT team sniper. Nikis-Knight Jun 07, 2006, 05:37 PM Darn, I would have gotten that vampire one if I'd known Lugus was a god. I'm not too great with names, I guess. Gileyal Jun 08, 2006, 01:57 AM 3. Who is the Momus?[/B] Shouldn't the question be who's your Daddus? This cracked me up! Kael - I wish I had known you when I was playing D&D! Our Dungeon Master had no where near as much imagination. TheJopa Jun 08, 2006, 03:27 AM Momus is Perpentach a.k.a. Laughing Man. BTW does momus mean anything in english? Kael Jun 08, 2006, 06:25 AM Momus is Perpentach a.k.a. Laughing Man. BTW does momus mean anything in english? Sorta, its the name of one of the really obscure greek gods (the god of mockery). In the game I used it as a title, the Momus. Kael Jun 08, 2006, 06:26 AM This cracked me up! Kael - I wish I had known you when I was playing D&D! Our Dungeon Master had no where near as much imagination. The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.- Albert Einstein Kael Jun 08, 2006, 09:30 AM Deathling just caught an error that the Hippus weren't able to make the hippus summoner. The Air Elemental was the answer to the rarest summon (it can only be summoned by the Hippus Summoner) but since the summoner wasn't checked in correctly it was impossible to build. It will be fixed in the next version, no wonder no one knew the answer to that question. BeefontheBone Jun 08, 2006, 10:10 AM Doesn't get much rarer than that... Kael Jun 08, 2006, 06:36 PM ?   Kael Jun 08, 2006, 07:00 PM I had some spare time and little fun with an internet site: http://www.churchsigngenerator.com/ loki1232 Jun 09, 2006, 05:35 AM Is that your church? Oh i get it. woodelf Jun 09, 2006, 05:51 AM ?   That's too funny. H.GrenadeFrenzy Jun 09, 2006, 08:38 AM Damn I thought for sure their would be at least one sign from the game you know like to let everyone know that Kael is taking over and you can come and worship these gods at a location near you...you're tithes annnndd presence are welcome.....especially if there isn't one..........the site is fun though...........I would still like the church signs from FfH though there is a list of people I would send them too...........hehehe. wilboman Jun 09, 2006, 04:54 PM Aaaaw, and here I was hoping there was a priest/geek running around somewhere. That would have been fun - "Our Lady of Pentium"... H.GrenadeFrenzy Jun 09, 2006, 06:55 PM Aaaaw, and here I was hoping there was a priest/geek running around somewhere. That would have been fun - "Our Lady of Pentium"... It would be Cloak and Dagger, right? Religous Humor is good for the Soul. Priests are very fluent in role-playing games in my experience some make great DMs and GMs......but not everybody approves........so you have a different almost clandestine issue here. wilboman Jun 10, 2006, 08:49 AM I have a hard time picturing my Parish Priest taking part in a bout of D&D... Kael Jun 10, 2006, 09:40 AM I have a hard time picturing my Parish Priest taking part in a bout of D&D... A pastor once told me I was possessed by a "demon of rebellion" because of monty python ("movies that featured pornography, cruel violent acts, and transvestites"). I argued the point that just because some of the actors played male and female roles didn't make them transvestites, which illicited the possession responce. In retrospect I probably shouldn't have made the arguement in the middle of the church service (to my credit I did raise my hand first, and he did call on me). Corlindale Jun 10, 2006, 10:39 AM I think you should be thankful he didn't call The Church Police:lol: EDIT: Or even better...The Bishop(TM) There could be some priest/geeks in society, though. As humans they don't get any xp penalties for the multiclassing, although they do miss out on some divine caster levels.:) wilboman Jun 10, 2006, 10:58 AM Human Priest/Geek lvl. 12 sleepcaster (Sounds like a Munchkin unit). Special skill: Sermons with Powerpoint Presentations... Just what we needed:lol: Uhm, Kael, I'm not quite sure what Church you attend, but at my one, they don't exactly invite discussion during Mass:p Oh, yeah, and they do in fact play transvestites: The sketch with officers running around in Tutus is gloriously daft. H.GrenadeFrenzy Jun 10, 2006, 01:59 PM I have a hard time picturing my Parish Priest taking part in a bout of D&D... Last night after posting a friend of mine stopped by....and told me they were getting a new priest........a young one an we would see if he was up for a D&Dcampaign, his idea.........a strange synchonicity, yes.......So, he tells me I need to brush up my gaming material, because I am going to be the DM........uncomfortable short silence.......and then being right after my post...I said yes, I'll do it....boy just because it is fun doesn't mean there is no risk of anykind, lack of interest and refusal to play are anybodies choice.........but seriously I ask you:"How can the inexperienced and misinformed make an intelligent decision about anything(Non-roleplayers on roleplaying) unless given opportunity to learn of their ignorance not by ridicule but by investigation which my friends leads to another view entirely. Most priest are intelligent people and when they realize the only things in the game are those put in it by the DM(referee) if youwill and the players then it becaomes obvious that this creative tool becomes a battleground for good and therefore by example their cause. To ignore it doesn't make it go away and to dismiss it without investigation leads to more folly after all if evil is unchecked what happens and if evil can be battled on the very ground some would let it have then you have people giving something to evil that doesn't belong to it.............peoples imaginations do not belong to the Devil outright and is that not what we use during role-playing games to better the use of our imaginations not just for fun but a tool.......I improvised this although their really is another priest that may be joining our game....I just didn't plan the dialogue, it is old hat to me. Kerrang Jun 11, 2006, 10:21 AM Well, Graham Chapman was gay, but the rest of the Python troupe are definately straight. I was raised a Southern Baptist, and I had to endure several lectures by ministers who thought that I was inviting Demons into my home by playing D&D. Fortunately, my parents were intelligent enough not to listen to the idiots, and they did not have a problem with it, and in fact encouraged me play the game. I was also told that I shouldn't listed to David Bowie, or Elton John, as I was supporting their "gay" lifestyles by doing so. Unfortunately, my parents did listen to this gem of wisdom, and would not give me permission to go see AC/DC when they came around in concert, and also threw out a few albums of mine when they thought they were offensive. I taught them a lesson on that regard though, when I switched out a Black Sabbath album with one of their easy listening albums, and they threw out the wrong one. Oh, and I got my older sister to cover for me, and tell my parents that I would be watching my nephew, so I went to see AC/DC anyway. I am now an atheist, and I would be lying if I said experiences like that did not influence my deconversion. TheJopa Jun 11, 2006, 01:46 PM Uhm, Kael, I'm not quite sure what Church you attend, but at my one, they don't exactly invite discussion during Mass Same here. I can't even picture my priest calling my name during ceremony ;) But thats funny, in a way. BTW I'm Original Catholic (TM) (One with HQ in Rome) I got feeling (from reading this page) that lots of religious people have something against D&D. Why is that so, I'm not familiar with D&D, and I don't know anyone who plays it (I live in a crappy town of crappy country) My only contact with D&D is from Neverwinter nights, Icewind Dale, Temple of Elemental Evil and so on. Anyone who would diss Monty Python because of "Violence, pornography...." is an idiot. Kael, will you prepare another quiz? Kael Jun 11, 2006, 02:53 PM Same here. It was just fashionable to hate D&D for a while. Nowdays you are more likely to see that kind of attitude towards viedo games then D&D. TSR's highest sales were during the period where they were being "persecuted" by the church. And although their are a number of reasons TSR fell (and was bought/saved by Peter Adkinson) I think its because they tried to appease parents by making their softer and removing demons and such. Anyone who would diss Monty Python because of "Violence, pornography...." is an idiot. Definitly, peta has a better arguement because of parrot cruelty. Kael, will you prepare another quiz? Ill try, Im making a new tech tree right now anfd the mod is sorta in shambles. One of the reasons I hate making big tech changes is they are connected to EVERYTHING. And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu... And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.":king: :king: :king: Love Jun 16, 2006, 12:28 PM Hope its not to much monte pyphon suggestions but here is they: The black knight(lousing arms and legs sometimes...)
