View Full Version : My most amazing Quechua Rush!

Ok, here is the savegame of the most amazing start I ever had - it is immortal/epic, and it really can't get any better than what you will find in here ;)

Settings:

Immortal
Epic
Huge Pangea Map
17 opponents (all there are basically)

everything else standard, barbs on all victorytypes etc.

Anyway, I did a classical Quechua Rush, much like in the Deity Guide on the Guides page, just on immortal. Built Quechua's right from the start and nonstop while discovering polytheism and I managed to found hinduism. I stole a worker from hatsheput, my closest neighbour and therefore most obvious target , but as my capitol actually needed 8 turns to complete a quechua and I ran in the wrong direction first, I was rather late. 2 Turns after declaring war on Hatty Isabella founded Barcelona right outside of Hatty's capitol, in an amazing place. I changed my mind and decided to go for her instead, Hatty would even make peace after 10 turns, and as Barca made it to size 2 I declared war on Isabella (by stealing a worker again) and took Barca.

Then I went for Madrid, the holy city of Buddism. Meanwhile, I started building Stonehenge in my capitol and continued the Quechuaproduction from Barcelona. It took quite a while and a few microtricks (luring archers into attacking lonely quechuas) to get enough quechuas to get going - and 2 turns before I took Madrid Isabella founded Jewism - in Madrid, again.

Meanwhile I discovered Mining and BW is done in 1 turn, I saved immediately after Madrid was mine and Isabella was dead. Stonehenge needs 8 turns to complete, but I feel that someone could finish it first - but all cities are growing anyway due to religion so far.

Long story short: 18 player Immortal game in 1770 BC, and I own the holy cities of Buddism, Hinduism, and Jewism. Bangarang.

If you want to give this a try ----> good luck :)

Not quite as funny as my all time favorite religious misspelling; Confusionism. :)

The only time I wanted to start the game with a Quecha rush I realized Mansa was my closest neighbour...
Had to cross half of the continent to crush China and Rome...

lol yeah, having mansa as your neighbor means no quechua rush, at least not in his direction. I recently submitted a large, 14-opponent, pangea, marathon, monarch, quechua rush based, domination victory in 1010 A.D. (2nd wave of attacks was based on elephants and macemen at the end). Monarch is the lowest difficulty where quechua rush works, but I must say it was an extremely satisfying game. I'm hoping it'll be posted in HOF soon but I just submitted it yesterday and the status is "accepted."

Still Asleep,

Great start :) If you tried it on Deity, you might have captured a few cities more, because AI starts with 2 settlers instead of 1 on Immortal. I would say you captured not sufficient cities as of 1770BC, but again I can understand why, because it is Immortal and AI does not have extra settler.

You also decided to produce the Stonehedge, thus you stopped with quechua production, that is another factor that slowed down your military expansion. Hopefully, you will get it on time :) With 3 holy cities, I think you did the right thing.

Can you elaborate more on what tricks you used with single weak quechua to lure out archers? Does it work? Does worker lure out trick work?

Quechua rush works on deity as well, even better because on an overcrowded map, because each AI gets 2 settlers, thus the travel distance from city to city is greatly reduced. You can capture 6 cities by 2500-2000BC if everything goes alright. You can check out the saves from my article to have an idea: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=169930

Oh absolutely! I intend to take a good, thorough stab at it after finals week. I was just saying the rush doesn't work well on settings lower than I did because the AI will have warriors, but in a way it works much better on the highest settings because of the reason you mentioned. In my early game there was the definite disadvantage of having gaps between my capital and the cities I captured which wouldn't exist on deity, heh, and managing the insane maintenance was the biggest challenge, but it still worked out. Can't wait to try it on deity. (:

Yea, :) I forgot that AI does not have archers on lower difficulties. You want them to build archers vs quechua :) AI is very smart.
