Another novice question: on the city view screen, what button do you hit to speed production, if you want to take advantage of the slavery civic, and sacrifice population to speed up production of an improvement or a unit?

Thanks as always.

...On the city view screen, what button do you hit to speed production,
They're below the draft button, above the Auto Governor buttons. Side by side. You can mouse over for details.

In this screenshot neither pop rushing or cash rushing is currently possible.

for the button, ljdjr gave you the answer
conditions are :
- slavery adopted (not only researched, it's bronze working by the way), you must have switched to it, and anarchy must be over
- city must have double the size of the pop that gets killed by the whip : examples, for a granary that requires 1 pop to finish, the city must be size 2, for a wonder that requires 15 pop to finish your city must be 30 or more.

i thought of something (need an advice on it) : in a starving conquered city, can you whip more than one building at a time?

Quite often you capture a city, it's very big but it's culturally overwhelmed by the other ennemy cities.
The result is only the center square is worked, giving food for just one citizen. If you don't whip, they just die down to size 2.
Can you whip a granary, then switch production to a theater, and whip it, then switch to a temple and whip it, ... until it's size 2, and have those things built in 1 turn each (fully built in queue, waiting for their turn)?

I believe you must wait between the whips. I think you can whip a granary (say it takes 2 pop). Then you must end your turn before whipping the next building, AFAIK. Then you can whip a theater (probably 2 pop, or play 1 turn and it's 1 pop).

i'll try whenever i have this starving city thing again and let you know the outcome.
It doesn't happen too much in my current game, because i parked outside the biggest target city a while, preventing it's growth.

I just thought about one thing : you should be able to give yourself tiles to work by force.
I mean, you captured a city, and have troops standing on one neighbouring tile. You should be able to work that tile, even if it is not yours culturally.
The opponent can't work it anyway...
