View Full Version : Mod Crash - File Crash Issue

Hi, I have been modding Civ 3 Conquests for a while now so I think I know what I am doing but there is a massive issue perhaps someone can help me with.

I made a huge mod ages ago which has been tested to death and everything in it works, so I am well aware of why something might crash.

Now I have gone back to changing the mod and Conquests will not accept any of my changes. For example, I have made a new leaderhead for Rome. I have called the diplomatic Rome pictures 'Rome_ALL', told the Pediaicons txt exactly where to find the file. The file itself is named exactly right and is not corrupt in any way. Yet when loading the mod, the game crashes saying 'could not find Art/Advisors/Rome_ALL.pcx'. This is despite the fact that the file is there, named correctly.

So the issue seems to be that Conquests will not accept any changes to the mod in any way and I wondered if there are some file issues I am not aware of that someone can point out.

Also, I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and have tried it with and without the patch so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

Thanks in advance, Xerxes.

Have you checked that the scenario file paths are correct in the editor (scenario properties, IIRC)?

Yeah I had a look at that but the commands are fine. The only ones you can edit in the editor are the lines for finding the leaderhead flcs. These are not the problem. The problem seems to be that the mod can't recognise where I have put the diplomatic leaders, i.e. the pictures that you see in the diplomacy screen in little circles.

EDIT: Hold on, I see what you mean. I will check this out. Cheers.

I had a similar problem myself. I can't remember anymore how it was fixed, but somehow it was by what was told to me in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=155186). Maybe I'd remember if I re-read the thread, but you can do that. Hope it helps!

Cheers for the replies but still nothing. I have tried renaming files, giving the scenario properties box a command line, I have checked the spelling and made sure the pediaicons txt is perfect. I think there is just a problem with the Conquests engine itself in that it cannot recognise more than a certain ammount of changes without going nuts.

Have you restarted a new game and had the same error?

Yeah I try reloading the mod, it has the same crash each time. I think I will just abandon the custom leaderheads.

Why don't you do another LD, or rename the file (crazy, impossible solutions, but it might work)
