Welcome to the first Casino of Boaring Wallow located in the Gentlemen's Club (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=170271), next door to the Builders of Boaring Wallow Incoroporated (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=166643). Here you may bet on events everyday. These events range from a variety of things, to demo-game related events to un-related events like sports games. Happy betting, and you know you'll always come back for more. We also now have a roulette table for anyone who wants to play!

The bets are open!

Current Betting Procudures:
You may bet up to 25 gold on sporting events.
You may bet up to 50 gold on demo-game related events.
You will be paid according to the set "odds."
The "odds" are regulated by Ice's Casino.
The more bets we recieve the higher the odds will be (yes that favors all bettors.)
Once you bet, you can not lose more than you bet, however you can gain more than you bet (obvious, but just letting everyone know, if they lose on high odds, it's the same as losing on low odds.)

Licentian Roulette
To play Licentian Roulette, you bet money on three numbers anywhere from 1 to 50. Using the great random number generator (http://www.random.org/nform.html) I will generate three numbers. You may bet anywhere up to 50 gold on these games.

If you hit one number, you win 2X the amount you bet.
If you hit two nubmers, you win 3x the amount you bet.
If you hit three numbers, you win 4x the amount you bet.

To play Licentian Roulette, you just post at any time, with your three numbers. I will reply to you shortly with the numbers generated and your winnings.

Isn't this fraud-sensitive, like:
I would like to bet on our research path, since I control it ;)

Yeah we have to watch for fraud...for instance in the pub PBEM...players can not bet that another player would win.... TOO easy to influence that.

Betting on elections wont be cool either since people are involved. Betting which year we meet another civ and who that is..now that might be OK.

ice2k4
Jun 02, 2006, 07:39 AM
Yeh, demogame related also includes events, such as pbem's that happen in the demogame rpg. I have been asked not to open up bets on the Rebel Pub II PBEM, since there are bets already going. Also I am starting the first bets right now on American baseball games. All bets after the start of a game will be void.

Now will you report it to th bank, or should I?

dutchfire
Jun 03, 2006, 04:12 AM
the results can be found on the internet easily, but the odds can give some problems (or do you use bookmaker odds?).

ice2k4
Jun 03, 2006, 09:00 AM
Swiss, I report it to the bank.

Dutch, since it's a sports game they will probablly be using betting lines. I might convert all sports bets to betting lines because it's easier for me, but it may confuse other people. Chances are I'll probablly be using betting lines from Las Vegas.

dutchfire
Jun 03, 2006, 09:11 AM
You're confusing me already, what are betting lines?

ice2k4
Jun 03, 2006, 09:22 AM
Betting Lines work like this.

Instead of giving each team odds, you give the whole game a betting standard.

Let's say the Jets are playing the Chiefs. The Jets are a better team.
SO the betting would look like this:

Over: Jets
Under: Chiefs
Spread: 6

This means that if you bet on the Chiefs, and they lose by 6 or less, you still win.

I might however, jsut to make it simple do straight bets. Like you win whatever you bet, and there are no odds or no spreads.

dutchfire
Jun 03, 2006, 09:27 AM
spread won't work with soccer, a lot of games end with just one goal difference.
Straight odds can be done, but that would mean anyone would bet on the clearly better teams during the group fase.

ice2k4
Jun 14, 2006, 04:52 PM
The odds for oyur first bet are 2 to1.
The odds for your second bet are 1.5 to 1.

And yes BLCG, soccer here in America is barely a professional sport. Reason I don't say football, is because our football is like your rugby, but a little more organized in the sense of play making and the game-clock stopping.

ice2k4

George your betting odds are 1.5 to 1 (I mean it's pretty damned obvious the brewers will win.)

ice2k4
Jun 26, 2006, 09:18 AM
Well BCLG, 100 gold is a lot of jing. You have to remember, you lose, I get 100 gold, you win you get 150 gold. But I'll give you 1.7 just to be nice.

Pulling them right out my ass. There really just based on how much money I have under the ol' matress. Keep the 2 to 1 though.

 You and 40 million worried English folk - at least we enjoy the advantage of tactical surprise, no-one stands a snowball in hell's chance of working out what our team and tactics will be...

Hey - what was with that whole Netherlands - Portugal thing? I was listening on the radio. "And now, live from Ceasar's Palace, the contest for football champions of the world, there'll be 2 rounds of 45 minutes each. In the orange corner it's the Netherlands and in the red corner it's Portugal..." :crazyeye:

If I was in the RPG and had any money, what odds would I get for Sven losing his cool and punching Big Phil on the nose? (It's OK, ice, as an American you don't need to answer that ;) I can only name one baseball coach and as he's based in the Bronx and you're in Brooklyn I probably risk having my nose punched as well :p )

ice2k4
Jun 27, 2006, 04:26 PM

I'm curious though, what basbeball manager (coach) do you know of?

Oldbus

I'm curious though, what basbeball manager (coach) do you know of?

Joe Torres (I think he's head coach - unless he is called manager???) I do like baseball and watch a few games over the Internet since I visited NYC last June and saw a couple of Yankee games (and watched some softball in Central Park). It's got the same good mix of teamwork & one-on-one confrontation as cricket (though the pressure is on the pitcher in baseball and on the batsman in cricket). Baseball doesn't have the elegant craft of batting, but does have the huge advantage that it doesn't last 5 days and isn't likely to end in a draw cos they ran out of time anyway :)

GeorgeOP
Jun 27, 2006, 08:04 PM
The head coach is called a Manager in baseball. And the Yankees are just a bunch of overpaid hacks. So are the Red Sox. Watch someone else. (Accept the blue chicago team).

ice2k4
Jun 27, 2006, 08:16 PM
Joe Torres grew up a couple of blocks away from me, and I'm very familiar with him. Actually he runs a little league right by me.

But, eh LETS GO METS!!! Reyes is unstoppable and Wright is God.

Yeh bets are open for every sport. Same rules as I'm doing for the world cup. The odds depend on how much money have in my account, since the money comes driectly from there.
