There is a very detailed and thorough tutorial included with the program. Press F1 to begin. :)

Weasel, that detailed and thorough tutorial is a peace of #"#% or mebbe I`m just stoopid. I think its a bit of both.

I`ve asked Aaglo and Orthanc to write us a tutorial, they cannot at the moment, but Orthanc said he`d make a FAQ.

no, it's not peace of #"#%. I've started with that.

And I don't mean that you are particularly stupid. You may be just a bit impatient (I doodled with pov-ray for 2 or 3 years before making civ3-units).

Yah, I think I`m impatient, gotta work on that :goodjob: But atleast I`ve started! So in 2 or 3 years you can expect my first unit! :woohoo:

Oh, just one question, do you need Animation Shop in the process of making units with POV-Ray?

You´re right aaglo, but is quite complicated.

you can't use animation shop for units, as it doesn't work in storyboards. it works as a film strip.

Quinzy, I`ve mentioned AnimShop cos IIRC some ways of unit making, Bryce for instance (again, IIRC) require it.

bryce? no..
i use photoshop and flicster. you can't make a unit in animationshop. you can make a preview of the animations, but not a full unit.

I didn`t mean a full unit, just animating a loaded model (made with a different prog.), but yeah, that preview thingy rings a bell, it might`ve been what I saw.

...animating a loaded model...

Taken out of the context, that's a pretty funny thing to say

Isn't loaded a men's magazine :groucho:

Same here. I learned everything I know about it (which admittedly is not a lot) from either the help files or from aaglo.

Stormrage: Animation Shop is used to make LHs. Maybe that's what you were thinking of.

Mebbe, anywho, Orthanc started a tutorial creation thread, I suggest we wait for his updates, and then move the Pov-ray discussion there :)

The tutorial included in POV-Ray is not user-friendly, it´s for someone who´s already used a raytracer, if not, it´s very hard
