Sounds interisting, but is this http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/8745/sicil8zt.th.jpg (http://img483.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sicil8zt.jpg) intentional?

I have replaced the scenario with an updated version. no settlers in the sea,
lucanian pirates and raiders, and dionysius`s financial predicament
has been relieved[a bit].

Is this the same tyrant of Syracuse that killed the members of the senate to gain control of the city? As mentioned in Machiavelli's Prince?

yes. as i understand it, the Carthaginians were closing in on the
greek city of Selinus, the senate did nothing but argue, and Dionysius
[thats the tyrant, not me] gathered the army and left at full speed to relieve
Selinus without the senates permission.upon seing the charred ruins and
many refugees, he returned to Syracuse to stage a coup, as he believed that
the senate was only detrimental. I myself think democracy is fine, but
wouldnt work very well until around the industrial era.
