MatteLeDog Jun 06, 2006, 05:53 PM The Embraer AMX, strike/close support aircraft used by Brazil and Italy, 2 versions included, one camoflauge with no country markings and one grayish blue with Brazilian AF markings.
The gray blue Brazilian:

And the camofluage one:

I checked them in game before so they should work fine.

Goldflash Jun 06, 2006, 05:56 PM Oh nice. I enjoy! Hurrahs! Perhaps Yon couldst tackle a helicopter? I would be loving to see a Mangusta before Mine Brithing Day!
What the heck. Did I snort something?

Uhm I have mostly jet aircraft planned at the moment, helicopters might
come along eventually though, however it is all a matter of the availability of models, I'm pretty sure Wyrmshadow is planning to make some helicopters after SOE is done.
Goldflash Jun 06, 2006, 07:51 PM Okay then.. um.. please make (grabs his Big book of military aircraft and opens to a random page) British Aerospace Strikemaster (http://www.warbirdalley.com/strike.htm). Or something else.
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 07, 2006, 02:40 AM very nice indeed- I sense a new unit master in the makes.
One thing though is the nose- the way it is coloured in the "tiger stripes" cammo I first almost mistook it for the tornado (before I even learned that it actualy shares some elements with that plane). Will there be a version without the built-in nose radar?
Virote_Considon Jun 07, 2006, 04:04 AM Very good!
I like the way it looks like the plane is having to crash land in the death anim!

Thanks :) I'm not quite sure what you mean with a version without the built in nose radar, the Camoflauge pattern I made myself in photoshop, it's not 100% realistic, but I did find lots of different paint schemes that this aircraft was in, the blue version should really be more light blue to be really realistic but that would have interfeared with the civ color I think. I made two versions since it's used by two countries.

Interesting aircraft, the next ones will be a few PLAAF fighters though.
Stormrage Jun 07, 2006, 05:54 AM Sweeet! Nice job, Matt! And, Wyrm? Yes, you do :)
BadKharma Jun 07, 2006, 06:44 PM Interesting aircraft, the next ones will be a few PLAAF fighters though.
This one would be interesting if you have a modle for it J-10 (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/china/images/j-10-3view.jpg)
Wyrmshadow Jun 07, 2006, 06:45 PM nope, I'm his source. And since I don't have one, neither will he.
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 07, 2006, 06:49 PM like that one (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/europe/images/amx-22p05.jpg) has the nose radar (similar to the Tornado) while this other (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/europe/images/famxa.jpg) one (prototype?) doesn't have it

No sorry, as Wyrm said no model.
like that one has the nose radar (similar to the Tornado) while this other one (prototype?) doesn't have it.
Ah ok I understand, but I don't think there will be another version of the AMX
in the near future, at least not from me.
MatteLeDog Jun 07, 2006, 07:15 PM First PLAAF aircraft up is the J-XX (J-12, J-13?)
"The Chinese aviation industry began the preliminary research for China’s 4th generation fighter programme in the mid-1990s. In 1998 the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) reported that an advanced F/A-22-class twin-engine stealth fighter known as J-12 was under development at Shenyang. Later in 2003 an Internet source photo revealed a fighter mockup for wind tunnel test which may be linked to the J-12 project. As more details of the fighter began to emerge, it was understood that the fighter will also be fitted with an internal weapon bay and possibly active phased array radar."

Bummer well it was worth finding out.
Goldflash Jun 07, 2006, 09:12 PM Kinboat made a J-10.
Wyrmshadow Jun 07, 2006, 09:15 PM Kinboat made a J-10.
but some thought it too cartoonish
NavyDawg Jun 07, 2006, 09:46 PM First off, great second unit(s). Secondly, I applaude you for making some PLAAF units. Suggestions:
F-8 Finback - fighter/interceptor - involved in the Apr 2001 EP-3 incident
FB-7 Flounder - modern fighter/bomber
A-5 Fantan - cheesy attack plane
Su-27 - Russian plane, but the Chinese will build some of their own
Ozymandias Jun 08, 2006, 04:30 AM I have a good student.
:goodjob: Congrats to Student and Master both. Fine work.

Look at it this way. This is only his 2nd unit and look how great it came out. Granted I did help him out almost every step of the way, but he did put a lot of his own self into the 'creativity' aspect of it. I mean there is only so much I can do by teaching through MSN. This speaks a lot about how easy it really is to use Bryce.

Yep there will be a Finback alright, the Flounder I'm not so sure, is this the one that is also known as JH-7 Flying Leopard? The Fantan I would love to do but no model so far, I think it was used by other countries too, cheesy? Odd choice of word, I guess it's obsolete by current standards. Ithink I'm gonna do the J-11 (Su-27SK license produced flankers) and the Su-30MKK if Wyrm has models for those.
Congrats to Student and Master both. Fine work.
Thanks.

Yes I would agree completely, I had zero experience with 3d animating before I started doing units, although it would have taken me a lot longer to figure stuff out if it wasn't for your guidance.
Here is the PLAAF line up so far:
Quinzy Jun 08, 2006, 12:49 PM god i love bryce.. so simple..
well done on those units! top notch!
sonofabandit Jun 08, 2006, 10:56 PM MY GOD. Matt DeLeDog you're my new hero. I've always wanted to implement PLA units in my civ game. I can't wait to see the Flanker in PLAAF colors. Or perhaps you may consider also doing a Flanker in the Russian's upgraded Su-27SM colors:

Just beautiful these new Flankers are, aren't they?
Goldflash Jun 09, 2006, 12:36 PM To me, they look a little large. Maybe I'm just wrong. Are thoes to Wyrmshadow's scale? Cause if they are, then there isn't a problem.
MatteLeDog Jun 09, 2006, 02:17 PM No these are not the final sizes, I forgot to mention that, I try to make the planes so they look good in size next to Wyrm's units and other people's units (aircraft) in comparison, though NOT firaxis scale.
BadKharma Jun 09, 2006, 02:28 PM The PLA lineup looks like what I need for a project in the works great job are the first 2 the Mig 17 and Mig 19?
Wyrmshadow Jun 09, 2006, 03:16 PM If you want to invent your own scale thats fine... I just eyeballed all my previous aircraft. But the Mig-19 is definately too large.
Snorken Jun 09, 2006, 03:31 PM Looks rather good. I like the penguin. :) ;)

Yup, I think that one is extra zoomed in for some reason. There is definitely an unrealistic aspect to the size issue considering that the Mig-15 would dissappear next to the J-8, but the Mig-19 size is not the final one.
The PLA lineup looks like what I need for a project in the works great job are the first 2 the Mig 17 and Mig 19?
The first one is a Mig-15 and the second a Mig-19 yes, the Mig-17 has a slightly different wing then the Mig-15, but I think the Mig-15 model is a pure export version, I'm not sure.
TopGun Jun 09, 2006, 11:57 PM Any chance the Mig-19 could bear North Vietnamese markings?
BadKharma Jun 10, 2006, 08:37 PM OK I thought maybe you were doing a 17 since the SOE previews show a mig15 included.
