View Full Version : German Sturmtrooper
MoscaTnT Jun 11, 2006, 02:22 PM Hi, Here it's my first unit, a german Sturmtrooper. I've made it following uthajazz's tutorial, I got tired of the Spanish Pikeman (at spain all the pikemen are spanish) and began this german camo soldier. I'm going to use it for a fascim goverment wonder, to be produced each 5 turns.
I hope you like it, I've tested it and I think it works fine, any feedback will be welcome.
----Edited,new attack flic andvictory sound-----

I dont like the musketeer like boots, but I haven't found better poser's props...
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/2382/sturmtrooperpreview16ij.gif (http://imageshack.us)
Now the victory sound is "enemy is weaked" from RTCW multiplayer
Un saludo,

Quinzy Jun 11, 2006, 02:25 PM wow! thats amazing for a first unit! really great stuff! perfect animations!
oh, and welcome to civfanatics! :D
Red Door Jun 11, 2006, 02:39 PM Wow! We got a star in the making.
Iron Beagle Jun 11, 2006, 02:43 PM Wow, that's really good! Welcome.
conquer_dude Jun 11, 2006, 03:34 PM Amazing! I wish I could make units. :mischief:
Perfect for a first! Welcome to civfanatics! :D
utahjazz7 Jun 11, 2006, 03:45 PM Hey, the unit looks great. I'm glad that my tutorial is paying dividens. I think this is a great replacement for some of the cut-n-paste WWII units out there.
A couple of pointers based on the preview.
1. The feet seem to slide at times, rather than the unit stepping (e.g. victory animation). This might have something to do with the angle of the preview though.
2. The muzzle flash seems just a wee bit too big for the size of the gun. The light reflecting back on the unit looks great though.
3. What I do when I want just regular boots is this. I use the PDM Shoes to cover the paperdoll's feet. Then I use the boot with the pointed toe to cover the shin and make the feet invisible. Then when the shoes and boots are the same color, it looks like they are just normal boots--not musketeet boots.
BadKharma Jun 11, 2006, 03:55 PM OMG this is fantastic great job! Any other units you have on the drawing board?
Goldflash Jun 11, 2006, 04:14 PM Finally we can get rid of that old nonob garbage.
odintheking Jun 11, 2006, 04:42 PM  Holy crap! Dude, you have a future in this. The animations are great, and so is the modelling. Have any interest in Star Wars, 40k or fantasy? ;)
Stormrage Jun 11, 2006, 04:48 PM ...
Mosca, I salute you! :salute:
This is the best first unit ever. (yes, i say that every time someone makes a great first unit, but every new guy tops the last one ;))
I second odintheking`s question :)
MoscaTnT Jun 11, 2006, 04:53 PM Thanks!!
It's been hard to do, but the uthajazz's tutorial and kinboat's models are fantastic. I plan to use the animations and models I've modded to do some variations (wintercamo and officer). I also plan to do a romero's classic zombie.

At first, thanks again for the tutorial, it's been fun to follow it.
Yes,the victory animation was the hardest (no tutorial ;) ), and I used a low YTrans for the foots, I'll try to fix it for furthers animations.
You're right about the muzzle flash, I'm going to fix it.
About the boots... I've used the pointed boots trick for a personal joke model I'm doing (Ilsa shewolf), but my model is based on a Kinboat's taimsuit, the pants are perfect for a sturmtrooper but are too short for the pointed boots.
I've tried a trick and this is the result:

I don't like it too much..., I need more props and figures
Thanks for your feedback, I'll update the attack animation and upload it asap.
Un saludo y muchas gracias,
MoscaTnT
NavyDawg Jun 11, 2006, 05:06 PM Absolutely amazing unit! I can't believe its your first. Hope to see more of this type in the future.
odintheking Jun 11, 2006, 05:18 PM Woo! A zombie! Will he have a gun?
Stormrage Jun 11, 2006, 05:20 PM A zombie with a gun? :shake:
Ares de Borg Jun 11, 2006, 05:35 PM Very nice unit! But WTF is that victory sound? German??
Red Door Jun 11, 2006, 05:37 PM Yes! Escape From Zombie Island needs zombies with guns!
Stormrage Jun 11, 2006, 05:45 PM Mein Gott! Very victorious :D
MoscaTnT Jun 11, 2006, 06:05 PM I love zombies but I'm a newbie. If I get a good model I'll do a officinist zombie with a gun.
But WTF is that victory sound? German??
I take the victory soud from a lovely videogame, return to castle wolfenstein, thereis a lot of "Amerrikanen!!", "Schnell" and other B-series-movies-evil-nazi sound stuff.
It's meingut or something similar (mein gott?), does it means "my god" or "oh, dios"? perhaps the soldier don't like to kill persons if you find a better sound, please, share it and I'll update the .zip
I also take the machinegun sound from a video game, Close Combat, it's a real MP40 sound, but I´m unable to fit it right.
ShiroKobbure Jun 11, 2006, 06:14 PM perfect!!!!
Quinzy Jun 11, 2006, 06:25 PM mein gott means my god.
Goldflash Jun 11, 2006, 06:26 PM Mein Gott is My God, yes. Its really the kind of thing you'd put in the death, if you really wanted to. Seig Hiel might be better for a victory...
Stormrage Jun 11, 2006, 06:28 PM Yeah, it means "My God!", not the most appropriate sound out there.. I think Medal of Honour might have some great sounds..
"Verzeiung, aber sie haben ihre granate vergessen!" - "Excuse me, but you forgot your grenade!" *kicks back the grenade you threw at him.
Whoa, talk about cross-posts! :D
conquer_dude Jun 11, 2006, 06:32 PM Okay then in this case...
MEIN GOTT!!!! that's one hell of a good unit. :D
Ares de Borg Jun 11, 2006, 06:45 PM Mein Gott! Americans speaking German - Wolfenstein and his nearly forgotten sounds... I remember "Mein Leben!" ("My Life") as a death sound... ROFL
Stormrage Jun 11, 2006, 06:48 PM Actually, its 1 american, 1 irishman and 1 croat :)
conquer_dude Jun 11, 2006, 06:52 PM And tell me who those are. :)
Stormrage Jun 11, 2006, 06:56 PM I`m not counting you in, cos you were just repeating Mein Gott after us :)
Gold is a yank, Quinn is Irish, and I`m from the infamous Bad Lands of the Balkan Peninsula :p
conquer_dude Jun 11, 2006, 07:01 PM I don't speak any German. Good thing I wasn't in there. :D
woodelf Jun 11, 2006, 07:13 PM The muzzle flash is spectacular, but a bit large like utah said. Very nice first unit.
BadKharma Jun 11, 2006, 07:20 PM I plan to use the animations and models I've modded to do some variations (wintercamo and officer).
Excellent that will be some nice variations on this excellent unit.
MoscaTnT Jun 11, 2006, 07:44 PM I've just finished the attack fix, now the flash has no shadows, and looks really better, I'm going to fix the sound too, I hope I found a good one.
About the zombie... I have done a texture for the kinboat's model and a skinnier body... this is the result:
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7875/zombiemodel3fy.gif (http://imageshack.us)
I'll work on it this week
conquer_dude Jun 11, 2006, 07:57 PM Wow! That looks brilliant! :goodjob:
Take your time though, make it well.
Mithadan Jun 11, 2006, 08:37 PM Like everybody else said, dass ist ein unglaublich gut erste unit! (yeah, my German super sucks, but it's ahelluva lot better than my Spanish) Super awesome.
Ilsa the She Wolf sounds pretty hot too. Perhaps somewhat more visually pleasing than a zombie?
Goldflash Jun 11, 2006, 09:14 PM Are you really going to make an Isla the Shewolf of the SS unit? Yuck. Please don't! X.x
MoscaTnT Jun 11, 2006, 09:26 PM I've just updated the files, thanks for the feedback, now it's a better unit.
Are you really going to make an Isla the Shewolf of the SS unit? Yuck. Please don't! X.x
Well... I think I'm going to do the camowinter and officer variations because there is a lack of german wwII units (I don't like copypasted german units) and there is a lot of wwII mods and scenarios, perhaps I'll do an africakorps soldier too. Ilsa is a joke unit from a joke film, but she could be a smart king unit.
But I'll to do a pair of good zombies first.... I love zombies, they love brains....
Goldflash Jun 11, 2006, 09:44 PM The other German Units are fine. I don't like that movie.. yuck. Maggots. Electrified "Marital Aide". Urimating on a General? X.x No, no Ilsa.
TopGun Jun 11, 2006, 11:22 PM I love the victory animation! "Sieg Heil!" ...very fitting and a slightly humorous side note. Love it! BTW, this is an awesome (first) unit. Welcome to these forums... you definitely entered with a bang!
aaglo Jun 12, 2006, 12:27 AM Yes! Fresh blood on the creation forums :D
uhh... that sounded a bit zombieistic...
Yep, that sturmtrooper looks fantastic
gorn Jun 12, 2006, 12:30 AM I'd like to vote for an Ilsa!
Heretic_Cata Jun 12, 2006, 03:14 AM WOW, What a career start !!! :goodjob:
McClane Jun 12, 2006, 03:58 AM Very good Unit. But, is it a "Stormtrooper" or a "Sturmtruppen".
Sturmtropper sound funny...:crazyeye:
But hey!! For a first Unit it looks great:goodjob:
Stormrage Jun 12, 2006, 04:30 AM w00t! The zombie looks great! Bravo!
Conan2002 Jun 12, 2006, 05:52 AM Very, very good!!! We love CIV3!
Ciao
thefusilier Jun 12, 2006, 06:30 AM Wow, I love this unit! Its great to see new units and not everyone off building just Civ4 ones. Hope you make more soon!
Ares de Borg Jun 12, 2006, 06:34 AM Very good Unit. But, is it a "Stormtrooper" or a "Sturmtruppen".
Sturmtropper sound funny...:crazyeye:
"Sturmsoldat", not "Sturmtruppen". ;)
McClane Jun 12, 2006, 10:02 AM "Sturmsoldat", not "Sturmtruppen". ;)
Sorry, but there were no "Sturmsoldat(en)" in WW1 or WW2, just "Sturmtrupp(en)".
:nono: ;) Maybe you mean "Stosstrupp(en)/Sturmkompanie(n)/Sturmbattaillon(e)" or something else (It means the same). But I never heard about "Sturmsoldaten" and I'm looking in the Internet and I can yust find "Sturmsoldat" at PC-Shooters for the names of modern, normal soldiers/warriors. I think it's not "wrong" when somebody say "Sturmsoldat", but every Soldier of Sturmtruppen just called Soldat or Landser :)
Bjornlo Jun 12, 2006, 11:05 AM ...
Mosca, I salute you! :salute:
This is the best first unit ever. (yes, i say that every time someone makes a great first unit, but every new guy tops the last one ;))
I second odintheking`s question :)
There have been some really good first units, but if there are any better 1st units... I can't recall them.
It is really obvious that you really put your heart into this effort.
This is an very good unit, that it is your first and of such quality really is amazing. Great job.
Snorken Jun 12, 2006, 01:36 PM Muy bueno para un [unit in Spanish] primero, zer schön! :)
BTW, Ilsa the Shewolf of the SS is loosely based on Ilse Koch, right?
Plotinus Jun 12, 2006, 02:48 PM This is amazing as a first unit. Brilliant work. The model is very nicely put together, and I think the lighting effects are excellent. I hope we'll see lots more from you.
Personally I think one boot looks much the same as another at Civ scale, but maybe that's just me.
ShiroKobbure Jun 12, 2006, 03:18 PM whats civ color?
maybe an arm band could be?
MoscaTnT Jun 12, 2006, 04:16 PM Muy bueno para un [unit in Spanish] primero, zer schön! :)
BTW, Ilsa the Shewolf of the SS is loosely based on Ilse Koch, right?
Thanks again, I'm very excited about the unit creation program.
Oh, felicitaciones en español, gracias!. "unidad" is unit.
I don't know Ilse Koch who is she?
whats civ color?
maybe an arm band could be?
Cause he's a camo soldier, he has few civcolor, only a pair of ribbons and the shovel. For the winter camo version I've added strippes on his arms (germans and russian used it in order to avoid friendly fire). I've also fixed the boots, no more musketeer. Here it a preview:
http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/1559/winter8rm.gif (http://imageshack.us)
The africakorps soldier model is almost finished too, I'm oing to erase the eagle on his chest, it doesn't work well:

http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/5163/afrikabig6nc.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I've found a MG34 model, perhaps the africakorps soldier'll use it.
:p and I've begun Ilsa.....
http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/7978/ilsacopia2lx.gif (http://imageshack.us)
I hope I'll get to finish a pair of units this week...
Stormrage Jun 12, 2006, 04:38 PM :bounce: You... totally...rock..man...
I`m like, so inviting you to join the WH40k team! Woot! :D
BadKharma Jun 12, 2006, 05:02 PM I love the afrika corps that is fantastic. A suggestion for the winter cammo one though.....if you have a soft cap and use that instead of the helmet it would make an excellent alpine korp unit.

Good idea, I'm going to look for a cap, I have an officer cap but no normal army caps.
:bounce: You... totally...rock..man...
I`m like, so inviting you to join the WH40k team! Woot! :D
Thanks but the problem is that I'm unable to make a new model, perhaps I could do some Imperial Guard infantry units, years ago they were my favorite WH40 army, but first I want to do the wwII germans and a pair of zombies, I'm still a newbie with a lonely unit.
conquer_dude Jun 12, 2006, 05:59 PM Lonely unit!?
You ain't no Newbie anymore! Not with wait you're showin' us, you look like you have 10,000 posts! :D
Stormrage Jun 12, 2006, 06:00 PM Do you think you could pull off a Vindicare Temple assassin? No rush, just, you know, one day.. :)
He just needs black clothes, a wwII german lookin helmet, some goggles and a big-ass sniper rifle :)
Goldflash Jun 12, 2006, 06:44 PM Jeesh. Leave him alone guys, you are like a pack of rabid and hungry wolves.
BadKharma Jun 12, 2006, 06:52 PM Here is a collection of free stuff you might find useful poserheadgear.html (http://www.greylight.com/poserheadgear.html)
If you have a model of an AK47 you could use that as a latewar variant because it looks similar to the Sturmgewehr and at civ scale it shouldnt matter.
Storm Grunt Jun 12, 2006, 07:03 PM  Fresh unit maker blood brings the sharks out.
MoscaTnT, the work you are doing looks great! Thanks for the new WW2 toy to play with. Don't let the pressure get to you, just focus on the units you want to do for now.You have to understand that with talent like yours you are going to be swamped with requests....;)
Iron Beagle Jun 12, 2006, 07:07 PM http://img479.imageshack.us/img479/5893/youreawesome7xt.gif
Sword_Of_Geddon Jun 12, 2006, 07:53 PM This is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYy better than my first Poser unit...which reminds me...I think I'll redo him after my American guy is done. How did you get Kinboat's muzzle flash to work?
MoscaTnT Jun 12, 2006, 08:03 PM Here is a collection of free stuff you might find useful poserheadgear.html (http://www.greylight.com/poserheadgear.html)

I've been looking on the web for two hours, but I haven't be able to find a cap. Thanks for the link, I've visited it, but the props looks really bad in poser, the sport cup it's terrible, I've saved the tommy helmmet and the american civil world hat, they look fine and I could use it in further units. THe nightvision gear works well also.
I've done an Alternative version, small cap. here it's the preview, he doesn't looks like a mountain trooper but he could be a good east front german soldier.
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/5881/render4copia5xp.gif (http://imageshack.us)
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/6958/render5copia8qr.gif (http://imageshack.us)
I'll work on the other units, perhaps I'll find a better cap....
It's a good idea to use the AK47, I'll look for one.
BadKharma Jun 12, 2006, 08:13 PM Ohhh I like that and changing the headgear really makes it look like 2 different new units great job! Unfortunately it isnt always easy finding free resources wish I could help out more.
MoscaTnT Jun 12, 2006, 08:16 PM This is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYy better than my first Poser unit...which reminds me...I think I'll redo him after my American guy is done. How did you get Kinboat's muzzle flash to work?
Hi,
I have a good amount of your units in my PC!!, I'm a hungry collector.
About the kinboat's flash,(sorry for my bad english, this is difficult to explain)
the trick was..... a lot of luck. I used the scale trick he described, but I only got the gun light,no light effects on the unit, he said for large units you could use a flash light effect, for human units the light could reflect on the ground and broke the magenta alpha....
..So I create new flash light on the canon gun (parent=MP40) pointing the soldier head (pointing up-back)), you can notice that the sturmtrooper legs has no light effect.
Frame to frame, when the muzzle is 100% scale, I got up the flash light intensity to 300%. when scale 0% the intensity 0% too.
If you want, send me a private message telling me your e-mail and I'll send you my working flashlight, you can add it to poser.
Un saludo
P.D. I forgot to tell you that I chaged the muzzle material properties, in order to get no shadows, I could send it to you too.
conquer_dude Jun 12, 2006, 08:25 PM Man you know, you are just one of the greatest uint makers that ever came here. That unit is... AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Goldflash Jun 12, 2006, 11:09 PM I'm I the only one that thinks he's fireing at someone's feet? The attack looks.. low...
Antiochus VII Jun 12, 2006, 11:21 PM I thought the same thing at first but I think it's just his posture - if you look at the frames the gun seems level in the east/west positions for the most part.

This is a really useful tip. I've been wondering what the best way is to achieve this effect without screwing up the ground colour. Thanks!
Stormrage Jun 13, 2006, 04:01 AM The attacks look like he is firing in the enemies stomach, and thats perfect as far as I`m concerned :smug: ()
MoscaTnT Jun 13, 2006, 06:50 AM Hi,
I've tested the attack animation ingame and I think it works fine, I've rendered the wintercamo attack but I'll modify this for the afrikacorps (how is it spelled?:p )
All the wintercamo animations are finished, the victory is fixed but not perfect I'm going to try fixing the feets. I've added an ironcross. The preview:
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3535/victory3vv.gif (http://imageshack.us)
Quinzy Jun 13, 2006, 06:51 AM that looks fantastic, but the iron cross may look a bit daft in-game, dont you think?
MoscaTnT Jun 13, 2006, 07:04 AM that looks fantastic, but the iron cross may look a bit daft in-game, dont you think?
Perhaps, I'm going to include two victory flics in the zip, with ironcross and without it :D .
Quinzy Jun 13, 2006, 07:07 AM ah, very good idea!
Wyrmshadow Jun 13, 2006, 11:04 AM http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freestuff.asp
for some other poser props. If you need weapons I have tons.

Thanks, those're the german wwII props I'm using, and the american cup is the one for the wintercamo unit. If you have a STG44 or a AK47 I'll be the happiest man on the world :king: . A PPSh-41 and a military field cap (german or modern american marines) are welcome too.
I plan to do an Stg 44 (I only need a curved magazine assault rifle) camo officer as soon as the units I'm making are finished.
I hope the camo winter will be ready for tomorrow.
Un saludo
Wyrmshadow Jun 13, 2006, 01:49 PM I have all those and more. Please check your PM's.
BadKharma Jun 13, 2006, 01:59 PM I hope the camo winter will be ready for tomorrow
Great I cant wait to add it to a scenario! I am also looking forward to the Afrika Korps.
Wyrmshadow Jun 13, 2006, 02:44 PM okay folks I just dumped a TON of models on our new spanish friend here. So hopefully we will be seeing some really nice ww2 toys soon.
conquer_dude Jun 13, 2006, 04:18 PM I see them as action figures. :p
That looks great, Mosca! Love the ironcross! :)
BadKharma Jun 13, 2006, 05:21 PM Using the pith helmet from the link I gave you and an AK-47 you could put together a very good NVA for a vietnam scenario after you finish working on the units you want to do. Just a suggestion because that era is really lacking for units.
MoscaTnT Jun 13, 2006, 05:27 PM Yes! Wyrmshadow've given me a lots of models, now my german army can use panzerfausts (I've got to take it from one of the complete soldiers), STG44, Ppsh 41, MG42, etc.
I hope camowinter'll be upload before I go bed...
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 13, 2006, 06:13 PM "Sturmsoldat", not "Sturmtruppen". ;)
What Ares said: "Stoßtrupp" or "Sturmtrupp" describes a group of soldiers organized as an attack formation. The closest what one would call a single trooper (the word trooper doesn't translate well into German military jargon) would be a 'Sturmsoldat' (not to be confused with "Sturmmann", the actual name for a member of the SA paramilitary organization).
BadKharma Jun 13, 2006, 06:15 PM Awsome you could make some nice soviets with the cap you used on the winter cammo model and or an officers cap and the ppsh.
Goldflash Jun 13, 2006, 06:43 PM Awsome you could make some nice soviets with the cap you used on the winter cammo model and or an officers cap and the ppsh.
Or North Koreans....

Muy bonito, deveras muy bonito - nice nice nice - this uniform colour would be perfect for the Finish winter fatigues or German mountain troops :) you wouldnt have a model of a Feldmütze handy ? :)

Darth Bob Jun 13, 2006, 07:10 PM Dude, this unit is absolutely awesome. I can tell you are going to become one of the next great Civ III unit makers.... Actually, you might already be there.
P.S. Is the Sturmtrooper supposed to be a field Waffen SS soldier, or a standard Wehrmacht assault infantry soldier? Im just curious because the term Sturmtrooper, historically, usually refers to either the assualt Sturmtroopers of the First World War or SA (AKA brownshirts) stormtroopers who were the mainstay of the early Nazi party.
Either way this unit is awesome.
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 13, 2006, 07:24 PM Awesome indeed!
One thing though the only moment this little guy stands up properly is when he is saluting (victory)- could you make the trooper stand up straight instead of crouching in the default- because it kinda looks like he's in dire need for relieving himself :|? I mean, I know that those cold Russian nights can affect ones bladder but... :D

Sssshhhhh you have uncovered my plot to get units for my Korean Scenario.
MoscaTnT Jun 13, 2006, 09:12 PM I've just opened a new thread with the new unit (german wintercamo).
Muy bonito, deveras muy bonito - nice nice nice - this uniform colour would be perfect for the Finish winter fatigues or German mountain troops :) you wouldnt have a model of a Feldmütze handy ? :)
Muchas gracias, en cuanto al Feldmütze... no consigo encontrar una gorra que me sirva como gorra de campaña alemana, sólo gorras de oficiales y cascos, sigo buscando cualquier tipo de gorra para hacer un granadero. (I supose you speak spanish)
Dude, this unit is absolutely awesome.
Thanks, it's a smart name, I want a name more germanic than Asault soldier and less nazi than Waffen SS. It's obvius that the unit is a SS, with SS camo and doing the imperial salute so I wanted to give the unit a chance to be less fascist or for singing "springtime for hitler". At last, sturmtrooper isn't a good name...
Awesome indeed!
I plan to change that for the afrikacorps, more stand up and more informal, I'll work on it.
Sssshhhhh you have uncovered my plot to get units for my Korean Scenario.
That's not a secret plot!!
BadKharma Jun 13, 2006, 10:12 PM It really is hard to believe you are new to this your units are so refined they look like a long time unit creator made them its nice to see you are paying attention to detail.
TopGun Jun 13, 2006, 10:47 PM IMO, the iron cross in the victory animation looks silly. I would probably not use the victory anim for that reason. Just me 2 cents...
JayaRe Jun 14, 2006, 12:40 AM 88 :goodjob:
Cloner4000 Jun 14, 2006, 01:44 AM you just blow us away haha

Yes, you can use the Alt victory animation without ironcross included in the zip.
For an historical scenario, the ironcross is daft (as Quinzy said), but I like it for flavor or other kinds of mods.
I've used it for the preview because is funny and different from the sturmtrooper version.
I've also done the attack pose of the afrikacorps, a preview:

Gracias hermano!!! Sip, se ve mucho mejor parado así :)
KingArthur Jun 14, 2006, 01:58 PM About the zombie... I have done a texture for the kinboat's model and a skinnier body... this is the result:

I'll work on it this week
Now that is beautiful. Nice touch with the one shoe on, one shoe off.
More urban (non-military) type units with guns would be very welcome too. Sorry to join the clamber for requests but your work is of a very high standard. :goodjob:
Partizanac Jun 14, 2006, 02:44 PM Is there going to be more units??? :)
I hope there will be!!! :D
Can you give us a little list what are you planing to make?
By the way Spain 4-0 Ukraine :goodjob:
MoscaTnT Jun 14, 2006, 02:52 PM I don't like soccer and all the ucracians I've meet are wonderfull people but... Viva la selección española!!!! (viva the spanish soccer team!!!)

I haven't planed to do any urban units except urban zombies, I'm going to finish the afrikacorps (I hate rendering) and then I'll like to do a pair of zombies, I've played zombie island and the mod is amazing and very funny but there's no romero's zombies (I don't like fantasy zombies for that mod).
About the list, I've done a panzergrenadier skin (oh! no! more kartofen units!) and it works fine (later war) and I'm thinking how to do a working panzerfaust attack, that's an one-shot weapon so he need to carry a box of panzerfaust and take a new one after the attack, perhaps a two-figure unit will be better, a supporting assault rifle soldier and the one with the panzerfaust but this'd be tricky for me, I've done only two units.
I'm thinking about a Castle Wolfesteind mod, perhaps I'll do a nazi-evil-secret-project zombie.
I also plan to play civIII...:p
Commy Jun 14, 2006, 03:34 PM GREAT WORK!:goodjob:
Awsome you could make some nice soviets with the cap you used on the winter cammo model and or an officers cap and the ppsh.
Yes, make soviets, please!
Commy Jun 14, 2006, 03:36 PM Double post

Thanks. There's definitely a place for your zombie in my scenario!
Wyrmshadow Jun 14, 2006, 04:41 PM okay I found a BAR and a bazooka for you.
Stormrage Jun 14, 2006, 04:56 PM A BAR!? Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! Can`t wait to see a BAR unit. I hope you make him Medal of Honour/Rambo style :goodjob:
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 14, 2006, 06:41 PM Ah yes- a Panzerfaust is still missing from the game. :) afaik this weapon was operated by merely one trooper, the weapon itself being fully dispensable and very light weight (early versions starting from 5 kilo, only). I have seen pictures of late war, 14 to 16 year old hitler youths, each carrying 3 or 4 of these into battle (on their bikes) in one go.

Yes, make soviets, please!
You need to have something for these great german units to fight.
okay I found a BAR and a bazooka for you
Wow some Bar units would be very nice to see also.

Ole!
okay I found a BAR and a bazooka for you.
That's perfect, thanks!, I'll tray to meet you at MSN tomorrow.

The panzerfaust is an amazing weapon. The idea of using two soldiers is in order to represent a more useful unit, and a good animation.
Attack A: soldier P aims and shoot his panzerfaust, soldier M make MP44 cover fire.
Attack B: soldier P take the box and catch another panzerfaust, the soldier M continues cover fire.
I have to use an ammo box cause the civ animations are loops so the soldier cannot carry separated panzerfausts.
I think this could be a difficult unit to do but, if I don't get so tired after doing current works, I'll try to do it.
I've been working on the africakorps, I've done this test preview, I think it needs a darker helmet:

Stormrage Jun 14, 2006, 07:57 PM By George, these are good days to be at CFC!
All hail Mosca, the Spawn of the Tutorial! :worship:
MoscaTnT Jun 14, 2006, 08:12 PM You need to have something for these great german units to fight.
Wow some Bar units would be very nice to see also.
Well, now that I have two alternate submachinegun animations on my hard disc perhaps I could do a russian red guard or comisar (I don't know how it's spelled). The problem is that rendering is very tiresome, making models and animations is faster and funnier and I'll get back to my job soon.
Stormrage Jun 14, 2006, 08:24 PM Nooooo.....quit your job! :D
Maybe some of the guys can jump in for you to do the rendering if you send them the files? I think it can be done..

(olive drab helmets saw use- not a good example tho since this particular pic is very dark)
here's another one (Note the differeing hue on helmets and uniforms) Caps were soon preferred over steel and tropical helmets http://www.granddadshobbyshop.com/TRI35011.jpg
Iron Beagle Jun 15, 2006, 06:15 AM It's great to see someone making 20th century infantry units. The zombie will come in handy, too. Nazis, zombies ... next will be zombie nazis!:crazyeye:
Asclepius Jun 15, 2006, 06:59 AM Wow! What can I say that hasn't already been said? Excellent units. Excellent animation! Bravo!
I would very much like to see your take on a "Panzerknacker" using a Panzerfaust. Here are a couple of German propoganda movies showing the Panzerfaust in action. You might find them useful. :)

I have actually three jobs.... that's a lot of quitting.
About the redering, That's a good idea but I don't know how it could be worked out, all the props skins and model are needed, the poser program and to know how to do minor fixes. If anyone wanna try uthajazz tutorial I can share my personal usefull props and my hand made skins (cause I'm unable to do my own model I make skins to get stripes and straps, and rotten zombies). I could also share my submachine gun animarions for Kinboat's paperdoll model, using minor fixes they works with every smg.

Thanks, it's very usefull, I was using my old 1:72 Matchbox and ESCI plastic miniatures for the model, poses and colors.

 I'm really impresed... I'll use those videos for the attack animations for sure, a lot of thanks.
Stormrage Jun 15, 2006, 12:32 PM 3 jobs AND making such amazing units? :wow::worship:
I hope someone volunteers to help you out :)
BadKharma Jun 15, 2006, 05:24 PM Looks like we keep going back to a soft cap you might try PM'ing Utah Jazz to make the hat as a poser prop.
odintheking Jun 15, 2006, 05:50 PM @ MoscaTnT - You should make a preview thread, since you are working on so many units. Maybe you could post previews of upcoming units in the first post. :)
conquer_dude Jun 15, 2006, 05:55 PM MoscaTnT, understand you have lead Civ 3 C&C to a new wonderful unit era! :worship:
That looks soooo awesome. You rock!
MoscaTnT Jun 16, 2006, 10:05 AM Looks like we keep going back to a soft cap you might try PM'ing Utah Jazz to make the hat as a poser prop.
I think I'll use a normal darker metal helmet for the afrikacorps, but I'll need the soft cap for the grenadiers unit but I don't know uthajazz well enough and he's helped me so much with his tutorial so it embarrasses me
@ MoscaTnT - You should make a preview thread, since you are working on so many units. Maybe you could post previews of upcoming units in the first post. :)
good idea, where would it be located? at creation & customization?
About the afrikacorps, the animations are almost finished, I'm doing a new death and victory animation so I'll get more pregenerated animations for further units. I'll post a preview tomorrow and I hope at sunday or monday it'll be finished.
Here it's a preview of the grenadier uniform I've done, the pant's colors aren't correct, but the jacket is finished.
http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/4838/render2copy9iw.gif (http://imageshack.us)http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/8387/render3copy8xg.gif (http://imageshack.us)http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/5020/render1copy0ou.gif (http://imageshack.us)
The zip files contains a readme and the skins for the afrikacorps and the grenadier jacket, are for PDM figure a props. I think It could be usefull for units creators.
Un saludo

Bjornlo Sep 05, 2006, 10:07 AM hey winter, i think that your units are very good, but i need civilopedia icons ;)
I made a few pedia icons over a year ago I think. Does not cover all of Winters units.
otacon_22 Dec 10, 2006, 05:17 PM This a nice looking unit. I especially like the lighting from the machine gun firing. Finally a unit that will replace CIV 2 looking units that I currently have.
Partizanac Dec 10, 2006, 05:59 PM @otacon 22 this thread was dead for 3 months and you bump it just to say how nice it is. Please do not do that anymore, pls check the date of the forum. Thanks (and you could improve your English :D)
