Hi good and bad news... which one first...

ok, the good one ;) : i got a response from porges (the one with the amazing defense circle animations in the regiments thread) and he sent me his customassets directory....

ok, now the bad one: i couldnt download the assets, cause hotmail told me that there is a virus in one of the included files :(

now i will have to wait until i get a clean version ( ihope he does this for me!!! )

and after that i will continue his great work and get us some custom formations for the different unit groups. well somehow i cant wait to get my hands on it, as i think i can push the whole mod graphically forward by all the stuff i`ve planned. but for that i will have to wait for agent 009 and porges to get things done right...

as soon i made progress on anything related to formations you will see screenshots and stuff here.

Do you plan to make bigger units for some civs?

Like, the brettorians have 3 knights per formation, while the goblins are a dozen (or even more!!)

Even though I think the regiments mod is awesome, I don't think it should be included. Just because when my comp runs in it goes sooooo sloooowwwly. It lags way too much and I think it might on other comps too. So therefore maybe we could make 2 versions or something? Just for people like me?

Personally, I´d love to have the mod with the regiments - gives a WH-like look to the units.

I´m also afraid that my comp will lag with it, but I would give it a try!

that maybe a good idea doing a lowtech version too. My comp isn't the fastest either. The problem though is. That's really much work doing two versions for all this units. I certainly won't type evrything in the unitinf two times. But if someone volunteers for that I certainly put the link in the new thread for it.
Maybe just stick to standardmaps? The main problem with gamespeed comes from the mapsize not the art. Normally this should suffice.

Yes, definitely, MUST be included - Itīs only that I got a poor 768 Meg of SD-RAM

But maybe my 256 Meg Gfx-Card will help :)

Sure seZ I didn't mean not to include it I was saying making two versions would be a good idea but I won't volunteer for it. So no panic!;)

Is it possible to have the flying units a bit above the ground via formations? i.e the griffon and pegasus could use that. The hawk that's in certainly needs it!

i hope mosters (griffons and dragons and pegasi) will only have one modle on their own, seeing as they are really tough individuals;)

Formations will be individual, so one model for the strong ones, more models for the not soo strong ones and different formations for different organised troops. will start with it as soon as i have time to do so. And i talked to agent009 and he will do the regular 3 men version and i will do the regiments version :P

if there is only 1 model, how will we know how much life it has? Will it get damaged like the tank does in vanilla?

Psychic_Llamas
Jul 01, 2006, 07:24 PM
 you can check how much life they have by having the mouse over them cant you??

Lord Olleus
Jul 02, 2006, 03:30 AM
yes, but it is much simpler to just glance at the picture of the unit and get a rough idea.

Psychic_Llamas

yes, that is true.

I know what you mean, but i dont know how the damage thing works (i mean i dont know if it is possible to add such extra textures to a unit). would have to ask Chalid about that...

got most of the time 8+1 and 9+1 units for each regiment and make use of at least 5 to 7 "different" formations for "unitcategories" and "Situations", so dont worry about visual diversity :P

Have to go now working on the graphics and formations again....
I changed the scale of the units to fit the formations, until now everything looks very very nice and i really enjoy testing things in between ;) But still have only 1/3 or something of the Units in the formations info, thats the boring part...

Wait for some remade Units, improved (i removed mipmaps) and newly added Graphics... Im furthermore fixing some stuff in the unitinfo and the artdefines....

Good to read that. Feel free to alter those files. That's what I reserved them for;)

I really think we need to go back to the scale of 0.33 as standard. You don't recognize the combat happening at all right now(in forest totally impossible).:(

I second this.
