Okay, I know that I've been gone for quite a while, but I have not been entirely idle on the Civ III front.... I've been slowly building models for an entire 4 era ranged flavor unit pack for Windhurst.

Ok, unit pack is now done, albeit about 3 weeks behind schedule.

Here's a list of the units in this pack:

Mithra Archer (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/MithraArcher1.zip)

Great to see you back! BTW, after this, are you releasing the Ork Gargant?

Welcome back! I noticed you sorta dissipated there for a while (most of us go through phases like that).

This is good, you've got the motion for the bow, I think if you make your arrows fly just a smidgeon faster it'll be perfect.

Yeah, just give me a little time.... I have only got the head like, half finished right now, and don't have time to finish modeling it until I get the rest of this unit pack done. I'll probably submit that for the July Unit Maker's Challenge.

Orthanc, when I made the original Ranger unit (whose animations this one uses), the arrow travelled as fast as the Firaxis Civ III archer units.... I have, however, noticed that when I upload a .gif file to Image Shack that has different frame speeds (due to the unit having different speeds for the different animations), it seems to average the frame rate and apply it to all frames, which is why some animations seem a bit faster than they are in game, and some slower (like the attack and death).

Glad you like them, Grandraem..... I'm also planning on doing a Mithra Worker flavor unit for windhurst as well. It's kind of interesting the way things have been working out on this mod....

Originally, there was very little flavor for any of the civs (other than having 3 UUs each), now the Euro and Med Human civs have different workers than the Asian, Mid-East and FF VII/VIII civs (the former is Dom Pedro II's European Peasant, and the latter is the Sengoku mod Japanese Worker), and the two heavily Elvaan civs (Light Warriors and San d'Oria) have their own Flavor Defensive Unit and Worker/Settler lines, the Orcs have an entire flavor Offensive line, worker, settler, Modern Paratrooper (a.k.a. Storm Boyz) and Marine (Kommando); and the Dwarves have the most flavor of any civ in the game.... They have a worker, offensive line, defensive line, settler, Unique Ship and a unique Armored unit. Some of the FF XI civs are also getting more flavor, since I want to do a Galka worker for Bastok and Selbina, and Windhurst has a TaruTaru settler (a.k.a. Kinboat's Hobbit), and will be getting a full Mithra defensive unit line and worker. I'm also planning (using the same animations that these units have) to make a Viera defensive unit line for Bervenia (from FF TA), in addition to their Viera settler and Bangaa Worker.

Oh, Hey Cloud, I cross-posted with you... Since I've seen FF VII: Advent Children, I've got the Urge to Re-do the Cloud Strife King unit.... If I could find a wicked looking bike like he had in the movie, I'll be re-doing him grand style!

since I´m here: Hikaro, Aluminium says you´ve got his storyboards. is that true?

Hikaro Takayama
Jun 20, 2006, 05:43 PM
Yeah, but I haven't had the time to properly convert them.... If you want solid black shadows, and a few other minor animation bugs though, I could have them ready in a week....

Aluminium gave me the unfinished AoE II unit conversion storyboards he had, since I mentioned that there were a few things I wanted, and wanted to take a whack at..... But, as I said before, I've been too busy to mess with them.

Speaking of which... I would be posting the second unit in this pack (Mithra Ranger) if it weren't for the fact that I finished rendering all the animations, only to discover that I forgot to hide one of the handles for posing the skirt, so there is a white dot hovering between her legs in all the animations, so now I have to go back, hide the handle object in all the poser files, and re-render every single animation.... If I'm lucky, I might be able to finish by tomorrow night......

Why don`t you just post it as the first female unit with something between her legs ;)

Okay, I can't believe I forgot the default animation..... Oh well, I just uploaded a fixed version of the zip file, asked TF to remove the old version, and edited the download link, so THIS time, there SHOULD be a MithraArcherIdle.flc in the file.

Okay, I finally got the second unit in this pack finished; the Mithra Ranger. I'm sorry it took so long, but first I goofed the render (which I didn't discover until I rendered all the animations), then some family from out of state dropped by to visit, further delaying the project, but with out further ado, I present the Mithra Ranger (download and preview is in the first post).

So, as they upgrade they have more clothes, is that the deal?

Cos I like the slut archer much better than the school girl ranger ;)

But its still a great unit! :goodjob:

Hikaro Takayama
Jun 23, 2006, 09:16 PM
Well, the Archer is wearing a leotard boots and bracers.... The Ranger is wearing Tights, buckled shoes (which in Middle ages Europe, were actually worn by men  ), short dress, leather vest, Bracers and pauldrons..... The Gunner is wearing Tights, Capris, women's flat shoes, and a sleveless turtle-neck shirt..... The Sniper is wearing buckled shoes, nylons, and a Semi-typical Female modern military semi-dress uniform (skirt that's just above the knees, blouse and jacket).....

so, basically, after the middle ages the amount of clothes stays roughly the same......

Stormrage

Sleeveless turtle-neck? I like that one :)

You could a post-apocalyptic one, thats nekkid. You know, just for kicks :mischief:

Ok, I've FINALLY got the Mithra Gunner done... I'd have been done last week, if it weren't for several delays to the Mithra Ranger and some really messed up stuff happening in Real Life (tm) slowing my progress down....

Now on to the Mithra Sniper.

Very nice units! I especially like the two guns attack of the gunner! Do you intend to make a Mithra leaderhead? With the Mithra Ninja done before, you are getting close to an entire civilisation!
Keep on the good work! :goodjob:

The mithra are part of Windhurst, which is ruled by the TaruTaru (a race of magical halflings).... The Mithra largely are responsible for protecting the country from immediate attack (which is why the entire defensive lineup for Windhurst is Mithra), with TaruTaru Mages and Cardians (Magical constructs) for support.

I'm using Kinboat's Hobbit settler as a TaruTaru Settler flavor unit, and am planning on adding a few other TaruTaru units for flavor....

Although I will be making a Mithra Worker and Settler pack in the near future (only the worker will be in the FF mod) for anyone who wants to have a Cat-girl civ..... I might make some more cat girlies as well.

Heh. Heh. Heh.

But if you're making TaruTaru units.. that'd be good, as I need more units for my two gnome civs... espically magic casting units. And Cavalry.

Hikaro Takayama
Jul 07, 2006, 11:21 AM
Odin: Yeah, or any other civ that can use some kind of cat-people units (like for the Rakhasta in D&D Mystara).

GoldFlash: I won't be making any TaruTaru cavalry, however I'm re-doing the Windhurst UU lineup a bit.....

I'll be making a full Tarutaru mage flavor unit lineup that will start with a Black Mage, go to a Red Mage, then to a Time Mage and finally a Summoner.... The Tarutaru Mage units will replace the Dragoon line for Windhurst.

Goldflash
Jul 07, 2006, 12:30 PM
Well, its the Mages that are really important. Oh, by the way, I'm thinking of using Star Sybil of Windhurst as one of my gnome heads.. .do you still have the poser files?

Hikaro Takayama
Jul 07, 2006, 07:31 PM
Funny you should mention that.... You see, the original figure I used was WAY too big to be used for a TaruTaru, but now thanks to Daz releasing the Millennium Baby, and with Capsces' ultra morph pack for it (which has FBMs for making the baby into a gnome or fairy), I can now make a proper Tarutaru LH, among other units (settler, mages, etc)

Also, I was just thinking over lunch break at work about how to handle the mages for WIndhurst.....

And came up with this:

First era: TaruTaru Shaman (available with Shamanism rather than Metal Working but has same stats as Warrior (2.2.1))

Second era: TaruTaru Mage (available with Feudalism (court conjurer), and has the same stats as Gladiator (5.5.1))

Third era: TaruTaru Wizard (available with Nature Lore, like the Lancer, and has the same stats (8(8).8.1))

Fourth era: TaruTaru Summoner (Available with Planet Studies, like the Dragoon, and has the same stats (16(12).16.2))

The shaman will be your basic robed dude with a staff, the Mage will be a magey looking fellow with a pointy hat... ditto with the Wizard, and the Summoner will look like your typical FF summoner with a hooded robe or something like that.....

I liked your orignal Sybil very very much, so I'm excited about this. Infact.. I would mind seeing her multi-eraed so I could use her as Giget of Inketof (the "Inventor Gnomes" of GDFM). You know... like, soemthing like the orginbal syb for era one.. and then maybve soem kind of alchemist labratory for eras two anf three.. and a steam workshop for era four.. or.. :mischief: Whatever.

If only the Samwise head was multi-eraed.. he'd be great for Henselydale (Merchant Gnomes)...

Oh well.
