The King of Monster is here !

Model by Scott Ayers.

Don't forget to check Amesjustin's Modzilla (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=129056)

Uh, it was painful to finish this guy. First, I fully render it in 250*250 (4 hours!) before remembering that the maximum resolution is 240*240. Hopefully, Steph's SBB was there and I was able to resize him very quickly.. Then I saw that I could never center a 240*240! I had to cut each animation to 240*170. Tedious work at best. But here it is !

Link! (2/2) (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/godzilla70-2.rar.not.zip)
Warning, it's a RAR (http://www.rarlab.com/) file

New version here : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=426865

Some sound included.

KEWL RANCH DRESSING

I have no idea what it means.. but thank you :D

But it still won't beat a spearman.

Oh come on, didn't you see the stomping on the third attack ? We're talking way much power than a puny tank here. ;)

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Supa,

Once again you amaze me. Civ3 and Modzilla are both still alive, and while Modzilla may be temporarily on hold, it will be released, and to be honest Supa it is you and your units that have kept me from scrapping it. Thanks for all you've done, and hopefully will do again once the slumbering beast reawakens and returns to stomp on the CivFanatics forums. :)

KILLER job! :goodjob:

How can I stop after that kind of compliment ? It wouldn't be any Kaiju units made by me if your project wasn't worth the time.

That is fantastic. You've managed to preserve the Big G's personality very nicely, and (very important!) resisted any temptation to make him green. Great work!

If you've managed to get 70s Godzilla so impressive, I can't imagine how impressive the Ultimate Godzilla, the Godzilla of the 90s, will be...

This is excellent, I mean not only is this very useuful, but it's modelled and animated very well, the fire breath is breathtaking (pardon the numerous puns there).

Idea: Godzilla vs. Metal Gear Ray...

Nooo, Godzilla doesn't breathe fire. It's radioactivity. Kind of thing.

Ah! In the words of my runescape freinds, Godzilla from the 70's p00ns the corny American Godzilla film!

EDIT: He even looks like he's made out of *MS WORD CANNOT TELL ME HOW TO SPELL THE WORD*, like he was in the 70's!

Godzilla was never plasticene, though. He was Suitmation!

Yes, that's what they officially called it. It was actually very effective in the early films - before they had him doing dances...

You really captured the feel of thoes terrible movies!

gorn
Jun 20, 2006, 05:25 PM
Terrible? I would GLADLY watch a marathon of old Godzilla movies than half the crap coming out of Hollywood these days.

Come to think of it, I would rather watch Godzilla movies than ANY movie that's come out so far this year.

Virote_Considon
Jun 21, 2006, 06:07 AM
I think the word was plasticene.

I agree with Gorn. The old Godzilla movies are better than anything that Hollywood can think of now...

Yeah, there's been little to no effort to make anything with something called, I don't know, PLOT?

Lame hollywood...

You guys should see the original, Japanese version of Godzilla, "Gojira". The plot was much, much better, and that idiot Raymond Burr wasn't in it. Plus there weren't any badly dubbed Japanese guys, there were subtitles, :D.

Supa
Jun 21, 2006, 11:26 AM
I wish I could find the Japanese version of King Kong versus Godzilla, not the American.

[Supa] They're exactly the same, apart from the language. (It's a myth that in the original Godzilla defeated Kong but they changed it for the US release!)

As for the US release of the original film, I thought it was pretty good. Re-editing it all like that and putting in a new main character didn't really work, but at least they cared enough about the film to try to make it more relevant for American audiences. They could have just dubbed it and not bothered. Those American producers may not have understood Gojira very well, but they respected him, and that's what counts!

I seriously doubt that the "tv-show" scene were in the Japanese version. They looked very "add-on" to me and to various reviewers on the net (I know the different ending is a rumour, but the movie has been changed)

Wow, first Mosura and now Gojira!

The original Godzilla was released in Japan in 1954 with a run time of 98 minutes. The American version with Raymond Burr was released in 1956 (with the title Godzilla, King of the Monsters) with a run time of 80 minutes. The American director shot new material but also deleted many Japanese scenes.

King Kong does not put in an appearance in the original Godzilla. For that we have to wait until 1962. If you want the original Japanese versions of either movie go to moviesunlimited.com and search by title (godzilla). They are available or pending release (pre-orders available).

Moviesunlimited is closed right now. I'm hoping for a Z2 King Kong vs Godzilla release when Peter Jackon's King Kong will be available in DVD.

Gojira54
Jun 24, 2006, 06:30 AM
I only have the American King Kong vs Godzilla, but I do have the original 1954 Gojira on DVD. The true Japanese version with no dubbing or subtitles. Sadly, I have every Godzilla movie ever made on either DVD or VHS.

Moviesunlimited is closed right now.

That doesn't sound right. Maybe their site was down for maintenance or something or perhaps you couldn't find it. Try this: http://www.moviesunlimited.com/musite/default.asp?

Godzilla needs all the fans he can get.

Jun 25, 2006, 03:00 PM
Yes, the site is working now. But, even if it has a pack KKvG and KK escapes, it won't work for me. First, this is the american version. Second, it's zone 1 and I need it zone 2.

Thanks anyway. :)

@Supa: Sorry to hear that this doesn't work for you because several of the releases have the Japanese and the American versions on the same disc. If you get really desperate there are "all region" DVD players available on the market. I believe the prices are coming down.

Plotinus
Jun 26, 2006, 08:44 AM
It's possible to download (legally) software that will let you play any region DVDs on your computer. Just do a Google search.
