Here's my latest unit. I'm really happy with the way that it turned out. I hope you all will like it too. I think it's a fairly unique unit, so hopefully it can provide a little variety to your Civ-game. It's supposed to be a Chinese-esque unit, but I have absolutely no idea if the costume and what-not are authentic--just my best guesses. Well, enjoy.

When I read the title 'Rocket Team' I didn't know what to expect. I almost thought it would be something from a circus or similar. I was very pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't. Unit looks great and is beautifully animated.

At first I thought it was MoscaTnT`s bazooka team :)

You could probably make an entire mortor/rocket launcher line with this guy as the first up, but only for China...:)

utahjazz7...that is a "top shelf" Unit! Very well animated indeed. Love the way they seem to be trying to figure out what is wrong and the one guy throws his hands up as if to say "I don't know" just before the Rocket Blows up and Kills them:lol: Excellent Work

The Chinese Thank you for this Great Rocket Team...me too:)

I noticed that the units_32.pcx file had the wrong palette so I made another units_32 file for you if you want it. It is Civ Specific Colored.

I`d put you in my sig, but you don`t have a library :crazyeye:

Sweet! An ancient Chinese artillery team, :D. The death and the hunchback are great, :).

An interesting looking unit. :) It could work for an early artillery unit. Actually, it's not too inaccurate either. Chinese soldiers of the Song Dynasty used rockets launched from simple tubes. They weren't terribly accurate, but they had the double purpose of scaring Mongol or Tangut or Khitan horses as well as the potential causing some heavy damage (in the event that they actually hit the target! ;) ). The Mongols later came up with their own rockets (using Chinese technology, of course) and chucked those right back at the Chinese. :spear:

Sweet! When I saw the thread title, I was thinking something futuristic, but this is even better.

Wow that is a very unique unit another great job Utah though when I saw the title I saw hoping for an RPG team this still will make its way into my epic game. BTW are you planning on doing any more cavalry units like a native american one? I miss the chubby horse.

@Plotinus - I meant Vuldacon`s library, with the hundreds of files he fixed ;)

Wow, That's awesome, I envy your cleverness.
As Stormeage said, I'm planing a modern similar unit, with two soldier too. How do you do the smoke effect? I'd love to add smoke to my unit. Your cap has yet improved it..:)

What a good idea. And what a nice job you did animating it. I predict that this one will improve the looks and fun of a lot of mods.

Man... I can't imagine the levels of patience it took to animate this. :)
Incredible unit uj!

BTW... is that long robe one of your custom props?

Thank you all for the kind words. I'm really happy that many of you thought enough of the unit to make a post; that's always appreciated. Well, as I said, enjoy the unit! :)

BTW... is that long robe one of your custom props?

Yes and no, but more no. The long robe is a combination of Kinboat's PDM T-shirt and a version of his long kilt prop. I exported the original long kilt prop and each morph target and made them compatible with a texture map. Then I recombined them to make a new long kilt prop. Then I just added texture and transparency maps to them.

Wow that's an awesome unit! Though does it have any historical background? I would be interested in using the unit for some south east asian civs, but I'm not sure that would be appropriate.

I plan to root for it to enter Cathay lines in the WH mod ;)

utahjazz7
Jun 25, 2006, 07:57 AM
I don't know how historically accurate the unit is. I saw a picture of a Chinese guy with a sort of tube like the one in the unit at Civfanatics a while ago. But, that's all I based the unit on.
