Can somebody please help me?? Here's my situation tonight...

I'm at war, slaughtering Huayana with my warbeast, Ghandi. As I'm taking over his cities I eventually notice that one of them wasn't in an ideal spot, and on top of that it was 1 tile away from the coast! Why does the computer always do this??? It's so annoying.

Well, I went as far as declaring peace with Huayana and giving him the city back in the trade (thinking that after the 10 turns of peace I can just conquer it again and burn it) so I take it again and immediately it gives it to me without asking whether I want to burn it or place a new governor in it.

This sucks... what can I do?

Starve the city to a population of 1, and then let barbarians or the AI take it over through a war. They seem to almost always raze a population 1 city.

Or just go into worldbuilder and delete it. The game doesn't let you delete the city without war being involved in game.

Abandoning city is to exploitable, especially in multiplayer. That why firaxis remove this option, absolutly correctly. Even abandoning city on the same turn as creating is exploitable, it city converting back to setler.
Want to clear jungle/build road in one turn?

It is not by choice. When ever a city has less then 2 population and less than 20% defence, it MUST be razed when changing hands.

It occurs when the city has 1 population and NO culture whatsoever

Make it a gift to another AI. Then attack and destroy. If they'll take it.

Is there a way to start your defence between 0 and 20%?

bummer... thanks guys, I'll live with it.

Also, I noticed it contains the pyramids and hanging gardens, not bad, it's still early in the game.

hanging gardens are worth nothing to you but who would want to raze the pyramids?
just switch to representation and enjoy :D

IIRC you cant raze a City with wonders in it.

I've tried this and unless there is a unit defending it, you cant destroy the city :(

A better Idea is to make several resource trades getting their maxium trading limit and then gifting them a city. If the city is far away from the homeland, and the leader will accept it, it can crumple their economy, with no diplomatic harm.

You sure can!

Actually hanging gardens are well worth keeping, they give +1 health in all of your cities. It's not huge, but it's a nice boost and a city would have to be in a pretty awful spot for it not to be worth keeping. Pyramids are arguably the most powerful early game wonder, early access to representation is huge.

I never wanted to raze a city with a wonder in it, but I had no choice but to axe one with Liberty in it recently. So you most definitely can raze cities with wonders in them.

Is there any way to know about the wonders in a city besides zooming in before you burn it?

what wrong about zooming in?

Not a reliable one. You really need to decide *before attacking* whether you intend to keep the city or raze it. This decision should include a quick scan for wonders. It's aggravating, and one of the more common sources of easily prevented error in my game, but it's just something to get used to.

I just look at the outside display of the city, and I instantly know what wonders it has.

If that isn't flame baiting then I don't know what isn't...
My only other assumption is that this is sarcasm and not trolling.

To me it seems like a stream or sarcasm to make people on the other side look like idiots. Not much more.

too bad its this bad.

its really not the right forum so I wont go into all the things I dislike about it, you 2 might wanna look out for my next thread in the civ 4 general forum called: Civ 4 - huge dissapointment.

I'm baffled. Firstly at why you would have such a strong negative reaction to a game that, to me, just seems to do all the civ stuff I've come to love over the years but in more detail, with better presentation, and with more flexibility and balance allowing for more freedom for the player to develop his or her own style.

More importantly, though, I don't understand why you'd bother coming onto a civ4 strategy forum, picking up a thread that had long since died, and resurrecting it not to ask a question about how to play more effectively or to get more out of the game, but simply to slag off the very game that the users of the forum are keen enough on to spend their time discussing how to play it more effectively. If that's not 'flame baiting', then I don't know what is either.

or look at demographics screen and then choose 5 greatest cities or something like that to the right you'll have a list of all wonders per city.
