Hi I've been experiencing game freezes in every game I've started so far...halfway thru an addictive game and the game would just freeze and I would hope for the next 10min that it would prompt me for my turn that never came. All my games are on huge maps with at least 12random players I wonder if that is the reason? I've upgraded to 1.17f and used the NOcd patch but it didnt seem to help. I'm running win2k, 32mb geforce 2mx and 256mb of RAM. I've yet to encounter outright crashes like some of you had though. Does anyone experience anything similar??OR am i all alone in this?.......

After patching 1.17 my game keeps freezing after about 20 to 20 turns always at the end of the turn. I have closed all other programs. The game does this on my computers at home and work (civ 3 worked on both before the patch). Does anyone know who to fix this bug?

I had thought I was freezing too, but 20 mins later, my turn came up, the computer slows to a crawl when on huge maps with alot of AI and alot of troops. I wish there is someway around waiting 20 mins a turn. One way to speed things up I guess is to wipe out the computer opponents one at a time.
Ive started over on a smaller map with less enemies.

On a small map with 4 players the game keeps freezing at the same spot - when one of my jet fighters intercepts an English Bomber. I note that the English bomber is not visible, although its bombs are. The bomber noises are the normal prop-type bomber noises. Does Infogrammes or Firaxes need saved game files?

I have a very similar issue in a game right now. The game has frozen twice now when *my* English bomber gets intercepted by a Zulu jet fighter. I have tried reloading from saves and it still freezes just as the jet fighter moves to intercept. This has happend at 2 different points in the game now and my only solution is "Don't bomb that turn". Between these 2 freeze points I have bombed without a problem and even had one of my bombers succesfully intercepted by a Zulu jet fighter without the game locking up.

I tried the "no bombing that turn" solution and have been able to continue my game as well. There is a bug in there somewhere. Infogrammes solution was to update windows and run in compatibility mode

I found out that there may be a graphics/sound bug in civ and affects different people differently, but what it does is causes lockups, try turning off animate moves off on everything and load up the turn before. Then try turning off the sound effects. One of those should stop you from freezing. I have gotten some crashes now when I scroll too far off the map but otherwise not any other problems. If you hit control-Alt-Del when the freeze occurs, you'll see a process with the weird name, I dunno if thats the error message that CIV III generates or not.
