Is there a way to make a playable backup disk of the CivIV DVD? My brand new MacBook Pro is chewing up disks like crazy - scratching the read surface bad. I don't want to continue using the DVD till I can get the MBP repaired, but I won't be able to do that for another week.

Does the DVD have any copy-protection? If not, you can just use a DVD copying prgram (Roxio makes one) and copy the disk.

As far as I know you cannot make a usable backup copy of the Aspyr disk.
Please don't discuss ways and means here. Although I'm sure your motives are honorable, others will use the information for less honest purposes, and this site has zero tolerance to piracy.

It is protected like all aspyr disks. If you scratch your disk aspyr WILL replace it for you.

Thanks Mumster. That's nice to know. I've never had this problem so I've never needed to ask about disk replacement.
I won't talk about what I've done to get a working backup. I'm a network admin, so I appreciate the need to minimize piracy.

I'd read over the licenses that came with it. Often the license agreements will allow 1 backup copy of the disc, but it will vary product to product. What I do is use Disk Utility, so you my give that a try — license agreement pending of course.

I asked nicely. I repeat formally:
