Look what I found about KotOR 3.
"As a leading representative of BioWare Corp. given the mamoth task of publicising the next in the series of Knights Of The Old Republic games (KOTOR 3), I have permission to confirm that this title is now several months underway.

This may come as a surprise to those who are currently reading this, as it was previously believed that the KOTOR staff had been cut from the LucasArts project. I can also confirm that the KOTOR 3 team is now officially on LucasArts budget and eagerly developing what we hope to be a 'must have' title on as of yet unconfirmed Next Generation platforms for 2006.

With more details to be released in the coming weeks, 3 points concerning KOTOR 3 can be posted:

1)The story takes place in a period roughly 14 years after KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords.

2)There will be new characters, equipment, classes, mini games and an entirely new combat system based on the interface used on Jade Empire.

3)The plot follows directly from the last game, plunging the galaxy into war with the True Sith.

This has yet to be posted onto the BioWare official website (www.bioware.com (http://www.bioware.com/)) as the pages are currently serving as a front to keep viewers occupied during a drastic remodelling process of the entire site.

As previously stated, this message is soon to be posted around the internet, and new details are to be released soon.

Keep checking back for more information."

Is this rumor, speculation. I have a feeling it may be real, if so, the best part is....BIOWARE is back. At last i know that KOTOR 3 will be made, this makes my evening...

Wow. I wasn't really impressed with KOTOR, and I never played KOTOR 2. So I don't think I will be getting into this one.

So it will be Bioware this time, not Obsidian?

KOTOR - great. KOTOR II - never finished.

I think the Jade Empire battle scheme will work - just think of the fist-fighting from Jade, and switch out weapons or fists for a lightsaber....

KOTOR2 better than KOTOR1?

Maybe the early parts... but close to the ending, KOTOR2 is completely broken and obviously unfinished.

The idea to train your companions to Jedi is great, but the implemention sucks. Near the end a lot of scenes (cut scenes or movies) are missing - too much things are completely out of the place and unexplained.

e.g. When and how do they get out of the ship after the crash? Do they got throw out of the window during the crash landing or what?

i liked the way the jedi were trained, it was pretty creative. i only wish i had more time to train both the handmaiden and mira:(

what do think was better in KOTOR 1? I liked how there were more classes in #2 as well as more lightsaber colors and overall, more in depth detail. for example, you could add crystals to modify your lightsaber, etc...I personally enjoyed it and didn't think anything was missing.

The way I see it... KOTOR1 & 2 are not very good RPG.

I started playing RPG with pen-and-paper D&D... and I've played a lot of PC RPG games. Compared to others, KOTOR1 & 2 don't allow a lot of options for the players to take. I think you've heard others describe KOTOR as "railroad-ed".

They feel more like Japanese-style RPG to me - the plot and how it develops is set, and as a player you help along with the skills, items and combats, and the game rewards you with a nice story/combat system/visuals. The items, combat mechanisms, etc. don't matter a lot as long as they're somewhat fun and not tedious.

I don't use "railroad-ed" in a negative sense though - I accept KOTOR being a Japanese-style RPG. Or even think of it as an adventure game or interactive novel.

While KOTOR2 provided much more items/visuals/options than KOTOR1, it fails miserably in the story - not the storyline is bad, but how it is presented. The text and data the community dug up shows how great KOTOR2 could be - if only Obsidian and Lucas Arts completed it.

That's why I ranked KOTOR1 above KOTOR2.

I still remember how wonderful it is playing darkside in KOTOR1. :)

I'm going to have to borrow 1 + 2 from a friend (or buy them if I see them) sometime. I didn't actualy play it but I watched him play it, it looks great! I liked the way your answers led to either the dark side or the light side.

I certainly hope this is true. I really liked the first game, the second one was ok. I've been very tempeted to replay them both but I've decieded to hold off until the Restoration project and M4-78 mod for KoTOR2 have been finished. I would like an proper inventory system in this one though

Dammit, my computer definitely won't be able to play it! (It barely can run 2). And I'm not getting an Xbox 360, so I won't be able to play it,.

I hope that they'll finish this game this time, and up the difficulty a bit. KOTOR2 was a cakewalk.

I wish the combat would be real time, not just button clicking but I have no hope there probably...

Well, both KOTOR 1 & 2 are "realtime turn-based"... a similar system to Infinity Engine games.

You queue up commands and modify them in realtime (though it allows you to do that paused also). The initiatives, which entity goes first and such calculations are handled in background.

I think that system is just fine... you have a whole party to control, so realtime as in like Warcraft or Oblivion won't work too well.

They should make through more animations, cool animations especialy during a fight with lightsabres...

Yeah, more lightsaber animations. Maybe style-specific animations (like lots of flipping for the "Yoda" style). Epic lightsaber battles

Erm guys. THere is no Kotor 3 in the works at this moment. Even if there was bioware will not be making it. ign.com has been known to create rumors about certain ideas.

The only word on kotor 3 that oblisdian did mention to lucasarts that they are willing to work on it if thats what LA wants.
