What are people's feelings about posting spoilers? They are great fun for those of us not playing in the game, and they allow everyone to go back and re-read the game from your opponents' perspectives at the end.

I know that I (and probably Fe, as well) will follow this PBEM very closely if given a chance.

I would see no problem with spoilers however I wouldn't want to post them, I could email an update every 5 turns or so and create a log at which point after the game i would post it all :)

Wouldn't this take away a significant part of the game?

What is your basis for this?

Unlimited tech trading moves the game too fast. I assume everyone here can launch a spaceship on their own before 2050. That means if we have 8 players, a spaceship launch is possible after 1/8 of the game is over!

Obviously we won't be coordinating anywhere near that rate, but the tech rate is ridiculous with trading enabled. And it's no fun being on the recieving end of a 10-on-1 tech embargo.

Prince too, and only a recently graduated noble at that.

I believe you can trust your teammate-opponents not to do the dishonorable thing of cheating through reading spoilers. Spoilers in this case (as opposed to Diplomacy games) are considered by many to be sacred, and if a player reads them they would ruin the game for themselves as well by eliminating some of the challenge. And the challenge is what we all play strategy games for, is it not?

I would also like to see spoilers!

But if you do post one, make sure you wrap it in bars, so that any enemies that are subscribed to the thread won't see them.

Civ4 is a totally different animal than Diplomacy is.
Honor is required for a really good game of MP Civ.

Well in that Case I propose the following:

We open 3 new threads (or I open one, Lost_Civ, and Azz each open one as well if they wish)

That Way I will psot my spoiler info in mien and they can do in thiers

Then everyoen here can haev 3 seperate threads/logs of spoilers. And can follow as they wish.

This way it also makes it easier for those playign to not stuble on a spoielr by accident, (it should be simple jsut don't go to the threar that isn't yours)

Also this will allow for teamates to post in our spoiler thead and comment (without giving anything away from the other threads)

For added fun for those "spectating" you could pick a player and only follow thier spoiler :)

In any event mine will be created followoign this post, but my starting picture won't come until later tonight :goodjob:

How long does a PBEM generally last anyway?

A 4 person Civ 3 PBEM I was in lasted a year (I joined near the end).

Depending on how many "fast sessions" we get (and how quickly we win), anywhere from 3 months - a year.

Well considering this is noble (and 99% of the time the AI will go for Buddism first) and you are the only one who started with mysticism (even out of us and the AI :mischief: .. I am willing to bet the Pyramids that you are the one who founded it. (My suspicions will be confirmed upon seeing a jump in your score when I open the save. ;) )
