WHAT THIS FORUM IS ABOUT

Rhye's and Fall of Civilization, previously the "Rhye's Catapult project (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=163655)", is the sequel of Rhye's of Civilization.

Rhye's of Civilization - the fastest loading mod was widely known as a sort of "Civ3½", it is one of the most famous modpacks for Civilization III, with more than 25'000 downloads, and having generated over 7000 posts of feedback, including CivFanatics' Forums' biggest thread (300 pages long)

This mod doesn't feature loads of new units, civilization and other "stuff", and doesn't break the core of the game: fortunately Civ4 is a much better game than Civ3, so it won't need as much rebalancing.
It just revolves around re-enacting the development of the Earth, coming close to being a simulator.



In brief, it features (so far):
- A 124x68 world map with enlarged Europe for better gameplay
- Dynamic rise and fall of civilizations
- Stability management: unstable empires will risk secessions and civil wars
- Players can control more than one civilization in a single game
- Dynamic spread of resources
- Reprogrammed AI that adapts its behaviour to the Earth map and founds cities in their historical place, with their historical name
- Python events that reproduce historical barbarian attacks
- Plague that will offer a hard challenge spreading throughout the world
- Unique powers and victory conditions for each civilization
- World Congresses where cities are traded
- New flags and new terrain graphics, including a new terrain: marshes
- Rule changes that will give this mod the feel of the original Rhye’s of Civilization
- A new civilization: Babylon, and other non playable civs (for Warlords version only)

Hmm I agree with you Pleop, and anyway, you could always ask the community...

Anyway I've been a long time lurker on your thread and I'm glad that you now have a forum because mods with forums shoot up in productivity. Even though your mod was really good, I think it will be even better now. So I say great job so far! :thumbsup:

I played this mod until the middle ages tonight and must say the concept is truly revolutionary, Rhye! Really had my fun playing it though everything is running a little too fast for my taste. I like the slow pace.
However Civ should have been made a little like this from the start. I wouldn't have so much trouble now simulating "history" in the WH mod. Great job!
If you ever get tired of simulating reality(though I doubt it) your allways invited to convert some of this scripts to Fantasy Flavor:D

No, it's specific to this map.
If another mod would like to adopt it, it has to draw its map, or in case of random map, assing random values to plots

Been looking for this thread for weeks. Kept wondering "Has Rhye given up on Civ?!"

Congrats on getting the special thread location - but it sure makes this hard to find! Would have been better as a sub-forum under CivIV or CivIV/Mods...

I found it pretty hard to find this place myself. It's an inspiring mod after all, I thought there would be links everywhere.

I will open a thread when I release 1.00 to announce it in the mods forum, but there's nothing I can do about it except asking Thunderfall if he's able to insert some permanent links from there.

More people should put it in their sigs ;)

I think you posted in the wrong thread ;)

I think he means things to add to the todo list.
And I'll reply to it: players can refuse to participate in a Congress and can refuse to cede a city whether they participated in Congress or not. It has been this way for a few versions.
As to improving Congress, the entire mod is a work-in-progress and every single feature is being slowly improved as time and feedback permit. Please be patient and try to assist development of the mod with positive, constructive feedback - specific ideas for implementation, with detailed justification where needed, are always welcome.

I have been meaning to play this for a long time and finally got around to it today. I had a great time playing as the greek (until those nasty romans ruined my fun ;) ). Great job on this, its a fantastic game.

Play as another Civ first?

You can start off as one civ, and then when another civ spawns you can choose to take them over. But be warned, you can only ever switch once.

This i s to help some of hte boredom felt by people who want to play late game civs like America.

I find it dead usefull cos I usually get bored about a half way through, so this lets me finaly win a game! Also I can play as one team (e.g. china) build a large and powerfull empire, then spawn as another (e.g. mongolia) and have endless fun pulling it down :)

I've moved halfway across the continent for school. I'm hoping to get good grades so I can transfer back to my beloved hometown :) I've got my net connection hooked up again, but I'm afraid I won't be able to do much testing, let alone posting. But I WILL check in now and then.

And if you see me checking in too often, gently remind me to "get back to work!" :D

I mentioned elsewhere but dh's post reminds me now to mention here more pointedly that starting this week (as in three days ago) I will not be around very much. I have started my year of civillian service, which I am doing in the Tel-Aviv Medical Center, and on weekdays I live in an apartment for civillian service guys in Holon. So far I haven't moved my computer there and I won't move it there until I can get internet there, which may happen but not in the next couple of weeks (because me and the rest of the guys would have to organize it and pay for it ourselves which we may just be inclined to do.) So I won't be playing the mod very often (maybe a few hours here and there on weekends that I spend at home) and I won't be posting as often as I'd like... I'll still try to stay on top of things here...

Hi guys, I missed you all quite a bit :D. I am finally back on my feet after more than a month of stress. From my computer crashing and not having connection to having some minor problems with CFC et al :). Anyway, it's not worth talking about that, to those of you who speculated my death :crazyeye: , here I am alive :lol: .

I look forward to returning to the forum, no worries about the assets, all is ready and the mod should be released soon after it has been bug-tested.

I never did figure out how to get the darn cds to install onto my desktop. However, I did manage to aquire an illicit copy that does indeed perform!

So, I'm around again. Just wanted to say hi, and I'll get up to date and start posting lame ass ideas to bug Blas and Rhye XD

Nope. As I said, I only just found out that you guys existed about a month ago.
Playing with mods, specifically yours, NOW that I've been a Civ addict for a decade or so, it's like learning that you need to release the hand brakes on your Ferrari when you been driving in an Autobahn...

I started playing Civ when I was 11 on a Power Macintosh 7200. I played Civ2 and did a light bit of scenario building for that. I generally missed out on Civ3 due to my interests changing and nearly had a repeat for Civ4. The difference is that I checked out the mods for Civ4 and fell in love with the game again.

Other than that, 22, male, works 45-50 hours a week, loves sudoku, trance, acid jazz, hardcore and partying.:cheers:

Althrough some guy posted here saying that he wanted Ukraine in that mod, so everyone here started making repetitive jokes about Ukraine. Well, that's everything.

I just played my first game of Rhye's last night in BtS as Greece. I just wanted to let people know how much I enjoyed the game - it was my favorite game of Civ in a long, long time.

I'm currently addicted to playing and modding Rome. This is a great mod.

I've been playing this mod and its... its... its amazing.

I've been playing Civ IV and Warlords since June.
I started playing RFC when it came out with BTS, and quite frankly, I play it more than I play regular Civ. I only discovered this now when a handy in game hint told me this forum exists :)...

I generally play Viceroy because I'm not that good of a player, and can't stand losing.

Welcome. I joined here about three months ago, when I found this forum from the same hint... I play Monarch, but switch to Viceroy once in a while (when I'm having trouble with certain UHVs). I can't believe I didn't try this mod until now thanks to BTS, but I'm making up for lost time. There's lots of stuff here; and if you have any questions, just ask.

Don't feel bad. I never downloaded any mod for any PC game until today. I am trying to get the new patch to work. Apearently I need to download the BTS patch as well. Time to pray to the Wifi gods for swift webspeeds and no lost signals mid download.
