My 'puter seems to have a hard time accepting the existence of the Civ IV CDs. It only sees Disc 1 about half the time, but when it does, it seems to proceed with installation just fine.

But, it NEVER sees Disc 2 no matter how many times I insert it, therefore making it impossible to complete installation.

This specific topic is noted in the Civ IV support page, which I suppose makes it a common problem. But their tip about just allowing an 'Express Install' doesn't help. Disc 2 remains invisible to my computer.

Anyone overcome this?

well i have the dvd version so probably wont be able to help much. Can you actually see the files on the cd when inserted (is it only the game installer which is not seeing (finding the install files)?

what speed is the CD drive; any damage visable to the underside of the cd; had any problems with any other cds?

If the installer is looking for a particual file - like you can just go browsing for it then - try copying the files to the harddrive If you are able to see the files.

Additionally try it on another computer, ive done installations over networks by mapping a network drive.
