Hi to all!

I can't get Civ 4 1.61 (any earlier version too) to remember my changes in Options dialogs (Hints on/off, automated workers on/off and many more).
I even had to change screenheight/width manually in CivilizationIV.ini to be remembered next time.
I did try to install the game for my user account (admin) only or for any user on this machine. No luck. btw. it's Win XP Pro SP2 including latest patches.

Any hints from anybody?

Sounds pretty weird. You have not set your Civ4 folder under my documents\my games to read-only, have you?

I did not, but you're almost right!

I got a hint from a german forum.
My windows username contains some german special characters Civ IV can't deal with (ü and ß).
So prefs can't be saved or read. Thats all. Pretty simple, but you have to know.
I added a new account without any special chars and it works!
