As ybbor posted, we begin with fishing and the wheel. I know a lot will depend on the starting position, but will you aim to grab the early worker techs first? Do you see us building a worker before or after our first settler?

To both canidates:

What techs do you want to go for?

I would go the Bronze working route first (allowing chopping), followed by Pottery for cottages.

Bronze working allows us to chop and to get axemen. So far, my only only experience of playing multi-player is the Civ IV MTDG, but all the advice I have read says don't neglect your military. Being Aggressive will give us a promotion and Bronze working allows us to build axes if we have copper.

I think I would build a worker before the first settler. I like a few cottages early so that they start to produce rwards as soon as possible.

Re:worker techs..depends on start. IF its not a chop filled area(flood plains) we should go straight for cottages. IF there are alot of hills then go straight for bronze( mining first obviously)

I like worker first at size 2...sometimes its better to wait till mid level size 2 or even late size 2 depending if the capital need a work boat. The work boats will greatly speed up teh worker/settler production speed.

basically I would prioritize techs like so...what does the city need to grow, what does the city need to boost production. After the first tech..its what does the nation need for protection then production then growth by looking at the surrounding resources.

Good luck Oldbus.

Umm :) wish I had more time for them - I think Cartographer is the reason why I haven't finished a Civ 4 game in months (not that I'm complaining - I'm a map geek ;) )
