View Full Version : Initiatives, Ideas, and Stray Thoughts Filter (patent pending)
Sweetacshon Jul 16, 2006, 08:58 PM This thread is to aid turnplayers by trying to reflect the general consensus shown in various team discussion threads, although mainly Internal Affairs. However, our government type, if it can be called that, is anarchy, so I guess, ultimately, it's up to the turnplayer.
Piffle's current direction:
:science: Metalworking for Alphabet/writing trade
:strength: lions and other vermin
:religion: "See that large rock?? What if we stood it on its end?"
:culture: What?
:move: :coffee:
B: cottages. Leave room for 3 farms.
H: worker farm pigs, mine copper, and road them.
T: needs an obelisk. cottage, needs farms (along river plains?)
Warriors bust fog.
Future Thoughts
Hook up Copper.
Finish The Great Lighthouse. (+2 :traderoute: for coastal cities, 200:hammers:, no stone, expires corporation)
Research Metal Working and build The Collosus. (+1:commerce: coastal tiles, 250:hammers: but double speed for copper, expires astronomy)
Future city sites: Get one on the isthmus asap to block it off. Low production, high income isthmus cash cows. East coast for the Incense?

I think somebody's read Mitchner's "The Source"
That's my only thought except for good job Sweet
killercane Aug 25, 2006, 03:18 PM I have read through and can't find any discussion of what to do with the Great Merchants (or great people strategy in general) we will surely be getting w/ GLH and Colossus and philosophical bonus.
I can see a trade route with the Leader, but will that garner us enough gold to make sense so early in the game? Another option is research of CoL or Civil Service (which would require no mathematics which doesnt seem to be a big issue in discussion). If we do CoL we could grab a religion (relatively overrated imo in Civ 4, especially I fancy in multiplayer), but using it for civil service combined with a scientist from another city for an academy would be pretty tough to beat.
GM for Civil Service would require no math, and getting CoL and Monarchy after which it should bulb CS if I havent missed something. Or if we figure on getting monarchy and CoL at the same time we pop two Great Merchants we could lightbulb Metalcasting and then whatever else.
Or settling him and wait for the next one, which might be best in relation to our tech timeline.
All of this is on down the road but could affect tech choices pretty quickly after a metal casting for alphabet trade. My question for the math whizzes is which will give us the most benefit, goldwise and therefore beakerwise, for our burgeoning empire?
Conroe Oct 27, 2006, 09:52 PM I really liked the idea of this thread. It was always handy to have all of this information gathered into one spot. Our strategic "5 year plan" you might say.
Would it be possible to update the information? It is a couple of months old at this point. Also, would it be possible to include a recent save file? Thanks!
Sweetacshon Oct 27, 2006, 11:59 PM It's why these threads never really work.. especially with someone as inherently lazy as myself ;)
However, as you asked so nicely, I'll update it.
Whomp Oct 28, 2006, 10:37 PM Conroe feel free to look at the saves in gmail. The user is teampiffle and the PW is grenade, the save PW is holy_hand.
Great idea for updating this thread.
I think we should focus on what to do with Glight as 'Cane has suggested. With the recent letter from "the Leader" it might make sense for us to beeline to CoL while they go somewhere else.
Sweetacshon Oct 30, 2006, 01:28 AM Updated, mainly maps. I realised I didn't really know where we were heading, as expressed elsewhere. After Metalworking and TGL, what exactly is the plan?
Conroe Oct 30, 2006, 03:15 PM Conroe feel free to look at the saves in gmail. Thanks! Unfortunately, they have blocked us from accessing the gmail site. That is why I was hoping someone might upload here.
Whomp Oct 30, 2006, 05:13 PM Here's the latest save Conroe.
