In an effort to add to the list of Mac-compatible mods I downloaded a graphics mod to test it out. Graphics mods should create no problems for Macs but one never knows. I tried the Better Ship Scales mod. It seemed to work fine in my limited testing. Would other people like to give it a go and see if they encounter any problems?

Also, some notes:
1) Initialisation takes a lot of time the first time you start up because it needs to re-cache the xml
2) Uninstalation seems to require editing of the .ini file to force it not to use the cached xml at least once. (Set the parameter DisableCaching=1 for your next startup to flush the residual effects of the mod. You can then set this back to 0 to speed up startup.)
3) It seemed to affect performance - but maybe it's just because I tested it on a huge map near the end of the game.
4) There are two versions, v.1 just changes the scale of ships, v2.2 changes some ships to be fleets in addition to the scale changes. I tested v2.2 and had to force the re-caching of the xml to get rid of the fleet modification, although not the scale modification.

Please post any other observations. And if you know of an easier way to flush the effect of mods please let everyone know - I didn't seem to have this problem with Blue Marble, but then it didn't touch the xml.

Hopefully this will allow me to add to the list of Mac-compatible mods.

In windows when you have the loading spash screen if you hold down shift it will clear the cache, does this work on macs?

Mod seems to work well. I played a couple of turns in a late game to test it out. I'd play a full game with it, but I like my big galleons and frigates. :) The sails are more interesting to look at than the modern ships. I did find it easier to visually distinguish between destroyers and battleships, though.
