It would be cool to get people who speak

- French
- Spanish
- Italian

and are able to edit XML files to help us with the localization. Right now the MOD is only designed for English language, the German bits are pretty good, there are some errors in French, and we have nearly no Spanish or Italian text.

Cool, we'll use it for the next update.

ANYONE who wants to work on the text should make sure they have these files installed, so that we don't accidentally overwrite previous work.

thamis

Yes, go ahead, we haven't done any more work at the moment.

ambrox62
Aug 18, 2006, 01:58 PM
Thamis,
I've improved translation and e-mailed to your address because ZIP file is greater than 300 Kb max-size-attachment allowed
;)

Ok, I got it. Will put it into 1.96, which is coming tomorrow. :)

ambrox62
Aug 19, 2006, 04:08 PM
Thamis,
italian translation in 1.96 is the older 8th august one, no the complete one I've send you yesterday via mail... :sad:

thamis
Aug 20, 2006, 11:45 AM
Oops. Will post a quick update later.

ambrox62
Aug 20, 2006, 12:44 PM
Ok ;)

Little fix to do about translation:
1) when starting a new scenario, TAM fertile huge and TAM middle-east normal have "Sarmatian Tribes" and "Sarmatian Chieftain" strings scripted in map file, so they remain in english
2) TAM mediterranean small has ALL civs and leaders string in english for the same reason

Ok, thanks.

I'm planning to continue italian translation tomorrow, so I hope nobody has text files under working... :)

Laurino
Aug 22, 2006, 10:24 AM
Nope, only you has them;)

I added a new Hint txt file in 1.96, so make sure to check this one also if you can. I already translated the new hints in french, but the other languages are all needed. Opening the file and searching it with the keyword : "A TRADUIRE" will bring you directly to the ones that need to be translated.

Thanks

Done! :)
I'll hold files till tomorrow, for better tuning and refiniment after I've tested them today

Italian translation is near to be completed. It's lacking of pedia texts about techs, units and civics. I'll complete them as soon as possible.

DOWNLOAD (http://ambrox62.altervista.org/civ4/tam/TAM196_xml_text.rar) (right click + save object as... if you have troubles on direct download)

I'll send it to Thamis via mail

Some generic issues found:
***
TAM_Civilopedia_BuildingsProjects.xml
Added missing TAGs for wonders/project at bottom of file. English text needed.
Tag TXT_KEY_BUILDING_PARTHENON_ZEUS_PEDIA about Statue of Zeus doesn't work. Pedia shows text about PARTHENON from Vanilla Civ4.
SEAFARING appears as building. Bug or wad?
***
Egypt.xml
Added missing TAG about Hatshepsut. English text needed.
***
Civs and Leaders
Goths and Etrurians don't fit any scenarios. Pedia shows Arminius, Goths, Porsenna. Is it correct? Pedia ignores etrurians.
***
Religions
Animism and Druidism are mixed together. Religion is called Animism, but buildings refer to Druidism. TAGs of both religions appears everywhere in XML files. Wad?
Pedia descriptions about religions appear both on TAM_Civilopedia_CivicsReligion.xml and TAM_Religions.xml. I've translated descriptions in first file only and it works fine. So I think that descriptions in TAM_Religions.xml may be removed.

Thanks for that.

@Animism
Animism is the true name, but we had called it druisidm before. Haven't changed all the text yet...

@Etrusans
Aren't used at the moment. We'll fix them up some time soon for a scenario.

@Egypt
Tag isn't missing, it's in the default CIV text.

@Seafaring
The building is an invisible building that all civs with the seafaring trait get (gives trade route bonus).

->Ok! It needs right texts about buildings' name and description (Grove, Monolith and Henge are for Druidism)

@Etrusans
Aren't used at the moment. We'll fix them up some time soon for a scenario.
->Ok. I'll prepare texts for Goths and Etrurians civs and leaders, also

@Egypt
Tag isn't missing, it's in the default CIV text.
->Nok! Pedia showed me TAG. Now it shows text about Hatshepsut

@Seafaring
The building is an invisible building that all civs with the seafaring trait get (gives trade route bonus).
->Ok! I'll explain this concept into seafaring description

Someone can tell me something about "Abibel of Tyre" (phoenician hero)? On internet there aren't news or links about it! :sad:
Thanks

He is the semi-legendary first king of Tyre. See the "Foundation" section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyre

Oh ... Abibaal ... thanks! :goodjob:

Communicate with Baptiste, as he's in charge of the french traduction. Avec la quantité astronomique de textes à traduire cependant, un coup de pouce est toujours bienvenue j'imagine!!!

Laurino, can I improve the released 1.97 xml/text files? Have you a new version of these files already in test?

Laurino,

you may download HERE (http://ambrox62.altervista.org/civ4/tam/TAM_Text_197a.rar) italian translation 197a

I've found the following PEDIA non-text problems to be solved:

Units
Following units haven't any informations showed in pedia:
Androgeus (minoan hero)
Minoan Comp Archer (minoan UU)
Gaul Cavalry (gaul UU)
Hero
Huskarl (goth UU)
Bear (animal)
Zophir (persian hero)

Wonders
Statue of Zeus shows description about Parthenon from vanilla Civ4 instead of the TAM one (I created a TAG but it doesn't work)

Leaders
List shows Porsenna (etrurian leader) among the available leaders, but etrurians don't appear at all elsewhere
Tiras (thrace) hasn't any informations showed in pedia (I created a TAG but it doesn't work)

Civs
Thraceans haven't any informations showed in pedia (I created a TAG but it doesn't work)

;)
