I couldn't leave you with that weird crash. Here's 097!

- Fixed crash caused by a conflict between AI autoplay and unit flipping. This bug didn’t show up earlier because flipping wasn’t working correctly :). Now AI autoplay keeps creating/killing a unit in (0,0), while unit flipping creates temporary units in (0,67)
- Persian UP limited to one free flip per turn to avoid snowball effect

I hope this version will stay for a while, like 093.

I not been having any crash errors yet, but i do have been getting lots of lag from this game.

My computer specs is this:
Radeon X600 w/ hypertread memory, 256.0 MB
1 GB RAM
Intel Pentium 4 processor, CPU speed of 3.00 GHz

This game lag a lot before and during Medieval Age.

Way to find and fix the bug quickly :) I think that will be a huge improvement for Persia, as well.

I lag too. I was lagging in .93 late in the game.. I have a gig of ram, and a 3.2 ghz pentium 4....

Will installing it improve a game-in-progress (even though my game doesn't seem to have suffered from these bugs)?

No, it would even cause some bugs because i stored new variables that in your game haven't been initialized at the beginning

About the lag, is it very different from 093 and 096?

Uh... is this compatible with Warlords? I'm sorry if this is a silly question. I haven't been around for a while. The last time I messed around with Rhye's work was CIV3.

EDIT: Nevermind! I've read some of the other threads. I understand that you are waiting until the final patch for Warlords is released. That's a good idea.

P.S.: Congratulations to Italy in the World Cup!

Started off with Persia after my Mongolian game. A few notes:
(P.S.- Let me know if all my lists get annoying. I only do it to organize my long-a** posts so they're readable.)
Got Shush as soon as possible. This got me Nineveh, Babel AND Ur, all in the same turn. I wanted to raze Babel, as it is crappy, but wasn't given the chance. None of the other three cities had a revolt or anything, they started producing on the first turn. Also, while Ur and Babel flipped with no units, Nineveh had 7 warriors (all I disbanded later), an archer, and 4 workers. Made expansion VERY easy!
Barbarian attacks seemed realistic, if futile. Lone warriors crashed against my walls from time to time, kept me on my toes. Not sure if this is the mod or the game, but !
I obtained Jerusalem by RAZING Sur, after learning from my previous conquest. Jerusalem had the bigger garrison of 2 archers and 4 warriors (which I disbanded as well).
Greece declared war shortly after I met them, while consolidating Turkey. Took Byzantion and turned them away with Axemen, plan to conquer later.
Took Delhi, another Indian city, razed a third, last city collapsed and was taken.
While my armies were returning, Arabia spawned and I got the flip pop-up, decided to let the cities go. They got Jerusalem, Ur, and PARSA!!! [pissed] I had 2 or 3 wonders there, and plenty of culture; it was also my capitol! Had I planned ahead better, I could have fought back with elephants, so that's my fault, and why I quit, but WHY DID I LOSE MY CAPITOL AND MOST CULTURED CITY?
It was a fun game, and I'll try them again. :D Next time, it's WAR!

With the last game in mind, started over for Arabia. I only got Jerusalem , and it was squished between Egyptian Sin and Sur. Persia was just barely fighting off the Indians, who had apparently taken Parsa, something I've never seen before! Way to go Asoka! I razed Sur and captured Sin, but stalled and sued for peace before going far. Bored, I restarted the game (exited and launched) to try again.

This time the world around me was much weaker. Still only Jerusalem flipped to me, but I had some more room for my borders. Immediately declared war on a barb-weakened Persia, destroying them and taking all their cities within a few turns. A few more odd notes:
When Jerusalem flipped to me, 3 catapults in the city came with it. Certainly helped the invasion.
Persia (which founded Taoism) was easy to defeat this time, yet still required the use of strategy and patience. Different from the all-powerful Persians rumored in other threads.
Persia collapsed just before the siege of Parsa, taking away the fortifying bonuses of the defending units, making it MUCH easier to take. :goodjob:
When I captured Parsa, a nearby coastal formally-Persian barb city flipped to me automatically. Thought I had inherited Persia's UP, but remembered the new rule about capitols. Cool! I got their 2 archers, too.
That second starting settler is mostly useless, though I wish I had saved it for after the conquest of Persia, to fill in gaps of land. Now I have 3 useless cities in Arabia.
Only cities I conquered with NO religion in them (only Ninveh) became Muslim, but they did NOT gain any buildings. Every other city had a religion, Hinduism, Judaism or Taoism.
The game crashed to desktop just before I invaded India, but I saved and will reload it for an update.

mm this works on mine... (they all got building and islam)

city i found with arabia aren't muslims and they don't get buildings (is this ok?)

when a city flips to me all its population is 100% arabian! (i conqured athens and egypt capital... all their citizens that flipped becomes arabian (excluding capital)

I founded too easy play as arabia now... just bring all you attack units to egypt, take their capital and you got all egypt....
i like this (but i would like that not all cities flips.. and more resistance (they are not unhappy..)

Ah, I forgot to switch to Islam! :wallbash: Haha, of course, thanks. I should try that whole game again!

Also, I think the crash was my computer's fault, and I've since played a lot, but I'll see if I still have an old autosave.

SK, can you send me the save before the crash? Which turn happened?

I had reloaded successfully before, but now I get an error saying "Sid Meier's Civilization 4 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

More information, "EventTYpe: InPageError P1: c000009 P2 00000003"

In technical information I found the following files in
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\WERdc1b.dir00
Civilization4.exe.mdmp
appcompat.txt

Hope this helps. As far as saves go, this is the earliest I now have (as I can't check without loading the game), the game crashed a turn after my remaining armies left Parsa for India.

In the meantime I will uninstall and reinstall RFC.

EDIT: No good, still not working. Help!

Found the problem (apparently, see above post), but it was a 5MB file that I didn't feel like messing with, so I trashed it and reinstalled Civ4. I'm not a big modder, so I only had to repatch and reinstall RFC v0.97 (this was LAST night). Then my computer said it didn't know what sound was, while it could still beep at me. A nice, 20-minute restart helped that.

ANYWAY, played an incredibly fun Spanish game for hours, then found v1.00 was out! :D Since I don't think Spain was changed much in the jump to v1.00, here's the highlights:
No ruins, yay. Pillaged some cottages outside Cadiz, waited for it to flip to me.
A Music-inspired Great Artist exploded Barcelona's borders, overwhelming Bordeux, it eventually flipped.
Circum-navigated the world before 1200. A galley was already in Polynesia, so it took my caravel about 3 turns to meet up with it.
Rushed for Guilds and started a build-up of catapults, conquistadors (never lost one) and a few macemen, crushed France and took Chartres (in Athens) before they collapsed.
Made contact with Inca and Aztecs during the "Fall of France," rushed for Astronomy to invade Mali-England-Aztecs-Inca. Note that they are LAST on my list, lol.
Inca declared war, 1490! WTF? Those crazy Incans. :crazyeye:
Inca conquered, 1515 (or something). My galleys upgraded usefully, used 6 galleons to transport my cannons and conquistadores around the world.
Persia is my big rival, almost equal in score (took out Arabia, working on China). I'm keeping Rome and Germany as buffer states, I could easily conquer them, but they're pleased with me. Russia, Persia and Egypt are Jewish, and don't like me and my Christian friends. I'm keeping Rome and Germany fairly weak, yet allowing them to stay strong to resist the Persian. England is useless, and will become powerful later (read: they must be destroyed now). Mali will always be weak, so I can forget about them. Inca is giving me all the riches of the New World in resources (yay gold, yay stone, yay copper, yay rice, etc.), but the Aztecs will fall, too.
This is a fun game, and I'm sorry to see it go with a new version out. I'm going to play it to finish, then test v1.00.
