hi all
I tried to change the game's music like the senguku sword MOD (by a text music file ) but the game crashed ....... I thought any MP3 file will do it but apparently not ...... and this happens also when I try to change the game's main wallpaper
so what shall MP3s and PICs files have in order to work in the game ?

Ok, for music, you need to have your mp3's at 128kps, or the game will crash. Also, you're using PIC files for your in-game title screen? You need to use correctly indexed PCX files. There are lots of cool backgrounds in the graphics forum, in case you don't want to go through the trouble of indexing one yourself, :).

There should be some MP3 converter programs available for free that can allow you to convert any MP3 to 128 kbps. Try looking on CNet's "Download.Com" for some free programs. :)

Use Switch to convert files to .mp3's, it rocks.

yes but what do you call that 128kps thing ? file speed ,buffer speed or what ?

kbps is the bit rate, it determines the quality and file size. Typically any program that can save mp3's can set the bit rate.

I'll search google for some information
Now that's what I like to hear! :goodjob:
Indexing means converting the image so that its colors come from a palette. Image editing programs such as GIMP and PSP can index images. MS Paint does not. All Civ3 PCXs must be indexed to a 256-color palette, with the last 2 colors (or first 2 if you're using Photoshop) used for transparency (for most graphics, including the title screen, those colors should not appear in the image).

Some music software also referrs to the bit rate as sample rate.
