How do you make a city look different than the regular city, like the carrier in the EFZI 3 scenario? What do you have to copy, and what do you name it?

Hi Lord Malbeth,

from the context of your question, I think you donīt mean the city-view-file, that is in the vanilla Civ 3 (and that is a problem in itself), but you are askin for the different appearance of cities on the map.

To change the appearance of cities on the map you must change the graphics of the "Cities-Folder". If you only want to customize the city graphics for a special scenario or mod, it is sufficiant to change the folder of that scenario.

In the "Cities-Folder" you have the city graphics sorted for the culture groups.
If you change that graphic the cities of that culture group appear with the new graphic. The names of the citygraphics must stay!

You can also set the city graphics completely to transparency (so that the normal city becomes "invisible" on the map) and now you can use resource-icons as individual city graphics. This methode gives you a cornucopia of options but of course these cities only have the size of resources.

If you really want to change the city-view (which in C3C only -partly-works for the epic game) you must replace some existing graphics in that folder. Addition and replacement of these graphics have weird results. So Firaxis capitulated with this folder.

I meant the Civ3 Conquest thing.

What happens if you change the the graphic and then the city changes to a higher or lower city.

The city appears on the map with the graphic you give it for this city size.
P.E.: If you set the rEURO the city graphic for city size 1 to a dog, a dog appears ont he map for a newly founded city of the European culture group (if you have all done properly). If you set the graphic EUROWALL to a cat, than the cat appears if the European city with that size builds a wall. When this city reaches the next city-growth-size and you set the graphic for that size to a carrier, than a carrier appears on the map.

I was hoping I could have different cities equal a different organ (For my Body Scenario), but it looks like it won't work, oh well.

It will work with the invisible city methode ! :) http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=118989 For larger organs you can combine the "invisible city" with a landmark terrain on which you paint that organ.
