I'm curious what these 8 icons represent ( see attached .gif ).

I've added some cool units and the game works fine as is but I couldn't see where the game uses these units. The other units that I've crossed out are original and added units.

The first time I overwrote them (with new units), all I got were pure purple boxes, or purple backgrounds with all black units. Obviously - that means don't mess with them again dummy.
