View Full Version : Help!
Balam-Agab Aug 01, 2006, 01:14 AM When i play the scenario i'm creating and try to enter either the military advisor or a city screen the game automaticly shuts down, without an error message. Also when i enter the domestic advisor i see all the city production graphics as black.
Thus it seems to be a graphics problem. But i checked all of the graphics and they seem to be fine.
I'm stumped so could sombody give me a suggestion to ether fix the problem or find out what it actualy is.
White Fox Aug 01, 2006, 01:29 AM Something like that happend to me once. The only thing I know you could do would be to reinstall the game.
aaglo Aug 01, 2006, 01:32 AM That's something I've never seen or heard of... sounds weird. White Fox's suggestion seems like a good start solving the problem.
Balam-Agab Aug 01, 2006, 01:32 AM it only happens in that one scenerio though so it must be something i edited wrong, right?
White Fox Aug 01, 2006, 01:33 AM But remember if you reinstall to save any maps, senarios, or saved games you want to keep.
PCHighway Aug 01, 2006, 01:35 AM Did you customize the graphics of the military advisor screen, or the city screen in any way?
Balam-Agab Aug 01, 2006, 01:41 AM i customized units, buildings and resourses but thats it
White Fox Aug 01, 2006, 01:48 AM Then you probably have to reinstall because the problem is with the basic files for the game.
White Fox Aug 01, 2006, 01:49 AM By the way, what is your senario about?
PCHighway Aug 01, 2006, 03:08 AM This doesn't sounds like a graphics problem to me. Don't reinstall Balam-Agab, no need.
I hope you realize how difficult it is for us to surmise what your problem is. If we had the actual files, it would be a lot easier. There are many things that could make a MOD crash. Not having Large and Small tech icon paths in the pediaicons text causes a similar crash, for instance. This error, however, seems to be an issue with resources or (obviously) units. It could be either, but it's most likely units. If you feel up to it, you could post the .biq file here for us to look at. Maybe there's something we can tell from that. If that's no good, your next option would be uploading the whole scenario.
Or you could just wait until more people see this and post the solutions to problems they had that were similar to yours. All three methods are fairly effective. :)
Sorry I can't be more help,
PCH
Balam-Agab Aug 01, 2006, 11:39 AM I would know whaty the problem was if the error was with units that i modified but it's with everything including the stock units. Also the units themselves work fine as well as the civilopedia icons, both large and small. These are the reasons that it's most perplexing.
WildWeazel Aug 01, 2006, 06:24 PM A problem with units_32.pcx (not sure what) could explain the crashes, but not the black graphics on the domestic screen. That however is almost certainly caused by buildings-small.pcx saved in RGB mode. Make sure it's indexed to 256 colors, with the last 2 being the background and border colors (pink and green).
Balam-Agab Aug 01, 2006, 08:06 PM I found the problem.
Turns out that photoshop changed the pallet on me without my knoledge. Why it did that I don't know.
Thanks of all of your help.
