View Full Version : Pit Boss Avalon game thread lplayer Mar 06, 2007, 12:05 AM Reboot due to loos of power. DanDRidge musy move again. classical_hero Mar 06, 2007, 04:35 AM Cool I was in Aruba not too long ago... I hope you have as good a time as we did, tho I doubt it as we were enjoying the fun of CARNAVAL ! :) But sun, sea, beach and > 25C can be enough fun for a holiday as well.... Be glad that you do not live here, as it is 42C today and it is going to be just as hot tommorrow and might be a record for the hottest March day in Perth, provides it goes above 42.3C. Mītiu Ioan Mar 10, 2007, 07:04 AM Ahhh ... no time to make my move prevoius turn and I was victim of a double-move ( but a legally one ) and most of my troops was killed by Agemo ... :( Future sounds verrry bad for German Empire now. HitAnyKey Mar 11, 2007, 10:29 AM The game seems to be down namliaM Mar 11, 2007, 10:31 AM The game seems to be down I lost connection while loading this afternoon, but indeed I still cannot get in either... Mītiu Ioan Mar 11, 2007, 10:40 AM Maybe with this ocasion it could be rollbacked until the turn which I skip ... ;) Regards namliaM Mar 11, 2007, 03:22 PM I was just now able to do my turn :) Game up and running (again?) namliaM Mar 12, 2007, 09:33 AM I am not getting my turn emails at my Hotmail address, I havent changed it and used to get them from civstats. Anyone have simular problems? classical_hero Mar 13, 2007, 03:42 AM What can be sdne about the fact that Portuga is still connected to his spot and thus I can't get emails from Civstats? namliaM Mar 13, 2007, 04:45 AM I think the admin of the game on civstats (LPlayer in this case I think) can kick the blocking player out and open up the spot for you to take. Tho when JMaltman was taking over from me, I just changed my pw and give the PW to him. Also I changed the Email address to send to him instead of me. But seeing as Portuga is allready away that is not really an option. IF I were getting mails for my/our game I could (auto) forward them to you.... But I am not => I cannot.... Not getting emails as a reminder is/can be a pain.... You just have to check every evening I guess... :( it is remarkable how soon and how heavy we come to depend on CivStats. Fosse Mar 13, 2007, 05:53 AM lplayer can kick portuga from Civstats and assign a new password for you. It's easy. classical_hero Mar 14, 2007, 06:20 AM Thanks for that lplayer. lplayer Mar 15, 2007, 04:50 PM Sorry Firefox, but you just made a double move during a battle situation. lplayer moved in 1530 AD (at 0107 GMT) firefox moved in 1530 AD (at 0540 GMT) firefox moved in 1535 AD (at 2131 GMT) with 23 hours left. As no one else has moved I have rolled back firefox's illegal move. Please advise if I have acted improper. HitAnyKey Mar 15, 2007, 08:34 PM Reviewing civstats, I agree that it was a doublemove and that the rollback is valid. Firefox, you'll need to watch civstats a little closer and/or coordinate moves with those you are at war with to ensure that the logins alternate to avoid this happening in the future. EDIT: On a similar note....I just declared war on Firefox as well... :p Johnhs Mar 15, 2007, 10:22 PM Hey, guys, I am seriously sorry. And seriously glad it could so easily be fixed. I came home from work, saw that the next turn was due in 5 of my games, and did them one after the other. Didn't even think about double moves. I will pay more attention (in all my games) in future, seeing as it's so easy to transgress. @HitAnyKey: Your timing is out. You should wait until we are both seriously weak and depleted and then both me and Iplayer could easily be taken out... HitAnyKey Mar 15, 2007, 10:38 PM @HitAnyKey: Your timing is out. You should wait until we are both seriously weak and depleted and then both me and Iplayer could easily be taken out... Well I'm only really after this one city of yours that you have planted sort of right between mine. So what happens between you and lplayer doesn't really concern me all that much. It's even unlikely I'd even head northward beyond it. We'll see... namliaM Mar 16, 2007, 12:07 AM As no one else has moved I have rolled back firefox's illegal move. Please advise if I have acted improper. Hmz, well thats one of the perks for beeing a host :) Guess there is no harm in rolling it back... lplayer Mar 16, 2007, 01:34 AM I rolled back to firefox turn gamesave but it looks as if this made no difference as after rollback the stats still showed that firefox had completed his move. Does the game save at start or end of a players turn? My dead Knight will remain dead :( and play continues.... namliaM Mar 16, 2007, 01:46 AM On civstats it looks like firefox allready re-did his move, I think I was the one to start this turn... Edit: I gather that the last player to play allways loses his moves, therefor it seems like the save is made prior to the players turn. But that is just a feeling not a fact. Fosse Mar 16, 2007, 04:56 AM A save is made whenever a player logs in, and whenever a turn rolls over. To restore to the correct point in this case the turn autosave (put in a different directory than the normal recovery saves) should do the trick. Johnhs Mar 16, 2007, 08:06 AM If that is the case, and since I was the first to make a move after the turn rolled over, there should be absolutely no difference between the 2 saves. I have though a lot about that illegal turn and then the re-take of the turn. From my perspective, I could not remember any difference. Yes, some of Iplayers units had moved about but there was no difference to my moves. And the knight was taken out in the previous "legal" turn. So restoring any of those 2 saves won't ressurrect him. namliaM Mar 16, 2007, 09:21 AM And the knight was taken out in the previous "legal" turn. So restoring any of those 2 saves won't ressurrect him. That would explain the disappearing Knight  Johnhs Mar 17, 2007, 10:58 AM Have been trying 4 the past 3 hours and keep timing out. And time's running short... lplayer Mar 17, 2007, 12:12 PM We lost about 4 hours as i had problems with my broadband today. It was connected but response was like 1 byte per second..... I saved the game and restored now that problem seems to have cleared. Les classical_hero Mar 22, 2007, 04:49 AM Is anyone having problems connecting while I am online? Mītiu Ioan Mar 22, 2007, 11:41 AM I also have ( and had previous turn :( ) problem when try to connect ... namliaM Mar 22, 2007, 02:03 PM I havent been experiencing any difficulties in (connecting to) the game ;) Edit: Guess I shouldnt have said that, I cannot seem to connect right now... will try again in a few minutes.... Edit2: Half an hour later, still timing out :( But with 12 hours on the clock I have some time to spare :) Edit3: With some time to spare on the timer I was able to do my turn this morning... not that there was much to do... but still pressed the end button :) lplayer Mar 26, 2007, 04:18 AM Sorry but Pitboss crashed after/during Poruga login (Game Year = 1580). I had to recover from previous recovery save and we therefore lost 5 hours. Les namliaM Mar 26, 2007, 08:53 AM I hadnt even noticed... :goodjob: Les :) Dandridge Mar 26, 2007, 10:45 AM Civstats shows that everyone would have finished their turn (1580 AD). However in-game it shows that Agemo hasn't finished his turn. Might be because of the reload. lplayer Mar 26, 2007, 12:32 PM Civstats shows that everyone would have finished their turn (1580 AD). However in-game it shows that Agemo hasn't finished his turn. Might be because of the reload. Yes, hopefully Agemo will see this and log in to end the turn. If Agemo does not notice this then it is unfair to him as he believes that he has made and ended his move. I propose that I extend the turn (by a Save) to at least 0700 GMT when he normally logs in and makes his move. lplayer Mar 27, 2007, 12:20 PM Agemo, please end your turns. We could have turned this turn round in 12 hours had you ended your turn. namliaM Mar 27, 2007, 12:57 PM Remember there were some issues with his turn last turn, something about a save beeing restored... maybe this is reason why he didnt press end turn button? HitAnyKey Mar 27, 2007, 01:04 PM That was the turn before last. agemo Mar 27, 2007, 08:55 PM Yesturdya I noticed that the game was reloaded so I needed to redo my last turn; but I was busy at work and could not get home in time to complete my turn. So I went ahead to make a few moves that will "restore" my position to resemble the end of last turn... Therefore, one should consider that I havn't moved at all for this turn... This is not a perfect solution but it's probably better than a reload for everyone except me. Again I am at work, I will end the turn in roughly 1.5 hours... HitAnyKey Mar 28, 2007, 04:54 AM Are you currently in a war with someone? Is that one reason you didn't complete this turn after the turn rolled over while you were logged in? agemo Mar 28, 2007, 09:48 PM Yes I'm currently at war with 2 civs... HitAnyKey Mar 29, 2007, 01:37 PM The nation of Mongolia has heard word of multiple nations with armies near the final city of the Indians, that of it's capital Dehli. We hereby voice our support of the English in their claim over that city. This world war against India was theirs to begin and it should be theirs to end. We urge the Roman army to withdraw and leave the city to the English. You were the third nation to enter this war and already obtained at least a couple cities to claim as your own. We do not wish to have to take overt action to show our support of the English claim, but we will if our hand is forced. lplayer Mar 29, 2007, 11:42 PM England supports the Mongolian view of the situation in India, and urges the Roman Empire to withdraw its troops back to its borders. The Romans will benifit from the fall of Delhi, by advancing its own borders into Indian territory, which the English do not object to. England Dandridge Mar 31, 2007, 01:42 AM Rome? What Rome? I take you're refering to the Finnish Empire? ;) To be honest I'm rather surprised that our long time allies and Buddhist brothers in faith start to claim these kind of covered threats to Finland. We feel offended. We are in this war only because England specifically asked us to join it. As I've previously phrased in our coversation with England our aim has been just to help end this war as soon as possible. And that's exactly what we've been doing. Just the previous turn we bombed the defences of Delhi from 80% to 0% to help this aim. Finland has no intention to take possession of Delhi. I repeat. We have been in this war only to help it end faster, since it's truely shocking us that Buddhist nations are fighting against each other in our close proximity and we want this madness to end as soon as possible. DanDRidge of Finland namliaM Mar 31, 2007, 04:18 AM Rome? What Rome? I take you're refering to the Finnish Empire? ;) quite some tension there boys.... HitAnyKey Apr 01, 2007, 03:19 AM game appears to be down namliaM Apr 01, 2007, 04:26 AM I am timing out as well.... lplayer Apr 01, 2007, 05:52 AM I think all is well now lplayer Apr 01, 2007, 05:56 AM Rome? What Rome? I take you're refering to the Finnish Empire? ;) To be honest I'm rather surprised that our long time allies and Buddhist brothers in faith start to claim these kind of covered threats to Finland....... DanDRidge of Finland Dear ally of Finland (with Roman traits), you were invited to take a share of India, and I think you have already taken more than your fair share, so please withdraw your troops back to your border, and let peace soon continue on our pleasent continent. England namliaM Apr 01, 2007, 09:13 AM I think all is well now Yep, I just did my turn :) HitAnyKey Apr 06, 2007, 05:29 AM Game is down again namliaM Apr 06, 2007, 08:14 AM 4/6/07 9:55 am DanDRidge Logged out 4/6/07 9:53 am DanDRidge Finished turn 4/6/07 9:30 am Firefox Eliminated 4/6/07 9:30 am Firefox Finished turn 4/6/07 9:30 am DanDRidge Score increased to 1640 4/6/07 9:23 am DanDRidge Logged in ?? Indians destroyed ?? Yep, Game still down :( HitAnyKey Apr 06, 2007, 02:33 PM well it's apparently back up now, as I was just able to play my turn. And yeah, yet another civ has been killed off from our continent. lplayer Apr 07, 2007, 02:47 AM We did lose 2-3 hours on Easter Friday. I lost all internet access for 2-3 hours and so saved the game and reloaded later, rather than let the timer continue Maybe UK holiday traffic :) Dandridge Apr 07, 2007, 03:00 AM Now that the Holy city of all Buddhists is part of the Finnish Empire I suggest that we let an eternal peace descend on our lovely continent. As a sign of benevolence and trust I'm again offering open borders for our neighbours to let all foreign pilgrims to visit Delhi again after the lunatic war that caused so much sorrow and pain to all of us. HitAnyKey Apr 14, 2007, 01:10 PM I have tried three times now to connect to the game and can't. It keeps locking up on the Finishing stage. lplayer, please reboot the game or server or whatever so we can try again. Thanks. portuga Apr 14, 2007, 01:47 PM I think that it was my fault. I had to leave the computer while I was connecting... I believe that caused your problem. Dandridge Apr 17, 2007, 10:46 AM Oh, those treacherous neighbours of Finland. All of them. :shake: Executing so many innocent people just for fun and for pure envy of the Finnish glory. And some of them even pretend to be Buddhist brothers and sisters in faith. So sad...so sad... lplayer Apr 26, 2007, 02:45 AM No technical problems with serve for about 1 month and then i have 2 crashes in 24 hours! I had to restore to Agemo's turn. Les agemo Apr 27, 2007, 08:14 AM Sorry all! I am no longer available to continue playing this game. Please look for a sub asap. I will keep playing until early next week before resigning... Truely sorry for bailing out! classical_hero Apr 27, 2007, 09:55 AM I would be willing to take over if no one has a problem. namliaM Apr 27, 2007, 11:27 AM Take care Agemo, it was nice playing with you. I hope what ever is keeping you from the game is nothing to serious :( Hope to see you back some day, you were a worthy and clever adversary :) Dandridge Apr 28, 2007, 11:05 AM (1740 AD) Can't connect to the game. Server down? lplayer Apr 28, 2007, 11:15 AM Restored to DandRidge Save. It looks like it crashed after or during your log in. Les classical_hero Apr 29, 2007, 07:00 AM Would it be possible to kick out agemo so that I can take over from his position? lplayer Apr 29, 2007, 09:42 AM Agemo is kicked as requested. namliaM Apr 29, 2007, 12:52 PM Who logged on as agemo not 10 minutes after he was bumped to AI? I think that as Agemo himself, or? agemo Apr 29, 2007, 04:01 PM I reclaimed the civ since classical hero could not claim it in time and the AI is stupidly sacrificing my units... Classical hero I have emailed you the password classical_hero Apr 30, 2007, 08:10 AM Thanks for that. I have a password so it will do. Fosse May 03, 2007, 09:34 AM Deception of the Greek For several years now the Greek government has been forced to make severe compromises to ensure the longterm survival of the Greek culture. We have long recognized a de facto subservience to the Finnish Empire, and recently were called upon to enter into a sort of partnership with them in order that we might align with the victors of the military conflict that is savaging our continent. We hereby pledge our full alliance with the Finnish Empire that our two nations might execute this war as swiftly and humanely as possible. As part of our terms to agree to fight with Finland they have agreed that no cities shall be razed throghout this conflict and I hope this small concession will come as some comfort to those now aligned against us. Your people will live on. Greece regrets the previous need of suberfuge, but the survival of our own people reigns paramount in our decisions. This policy has faced stiff opposition in the Greek governing bodies and also is unpopular with our citizens. We hope, however, that time will show we acted pragmatically. -Fosse of Greece. lplayer May 05, 2007, 10:13 AM While this server is moving, and until the DNS is worked through I will confirm game turns here. At 17:11 05/05/07 there was 21:18 hours remaining for turn 1780 Les HitAnyKey May 05, 2007, 11:49 AM Too bad the uploader is offline. My lovely massive score changes just now would have been interesting to see. :p In recent news, the peoples of the Mongolian empire seeing their neighbors and friends turn on them in their time of need have unanimously decided that they would rather die than live under the rule of them or the Fins to the north. To that end, there have been mass sacrifices for the sole purpose of ravaging the cities before they fall into enemy hands. The most notable of these is the capital city of Karakorum which in one year had it's population drop from 18 Pop points down to a mere 2 Pop points. Heard all around the countryside are the chants of: Down With the Infidels! Dandridge May 06, 2007, 03:09 AM Those are sad news:sad: . Killing your own citizens just shows how deeply unscrupulous and disturbed tyrants like you can be. We all bewail the sad faith of the Mongolian people. I hope we can save at least some of them from the cruelty of their arrogant leader. All the refugees who can escape from Mongolia are warmly welcome in Finland. classical_hero May 08, 2007, 07:11 AM I can't connect. I was in the process of downloading the game when I lost connect. Dandridge May 08, 2007, 01:29 PM Neither can I. Please reload the game so that there's at least 12 hours left in the timer. Otherwise I'll miss a turn (1790 AD). lplayer May 08, 2007, 02:05 PM Reload at 2100 GMT. I think you all have window within next 8 hours to move ie 0508 GMT. If not- shout! namliaM May 08, 2007, 10:30 PM An hour still on the clock, classical and fosse still to move classical_hero May 09, 2007, 07:28 AM What is the civstats password? HitAnyKey May 11, 2007, 11:35 AM As I'm having various time constraints lately, I've retired my civ to AI since all I've been doing is tending to a dying Civ and I'm not having any fun with the game anymore. So I'll leave you guys to finish off the AI. I just need to cut back on the number of games i'm having to deal with. Dandridge May 12, 2007, 04:06 AM ...and I'm not having any fun with the game anymore. How could it be? War is hell for everyone and should not be started on lightly grounds. Especially those who start it must suffer. Dandridge May 13, 2007, 05:34 AM Server down? I lost connection when I was logged in (1804 AD). Lplayer, Could you reload the turn. There was only 20 mins left in the timer. classical_hero May 30, 2007, 08:24 AM The timer is out, but the game still works. lplayer May 30, 2007, 12:08 PM Rebooted at 19:03 Im away from the server until 11th June so if it crashes- it crashes! I will try and pplay my turns remotely but may be difficult as im travelling, and may vary- but i will keep my orders stacked up - just in case. What ti do about Fosse He has not logged in for a very long time...... Any news? HitAnyKey May 30, 2007, 01:39 PM Fosse vanished from all the other games I'm in with him and he's been booted to AI in all of those. So you should do the same with him in this one for now. No one has heard from him in over a week. HitAnyKey May 30, 2007, 09:53 PM I just spoke to Fosse and he is definately not able to return to any of his games at this time. So you'll need to have him booted to AI and search for a replacement if you so desire. Though I see you havn't even searched for a replacement for me yet. :p classical_hero May 31, 2007, 08:43 AM The game went down whil I was trying to load it. :aargh: classical_hero Jun 03, 2007, 11:33 AM Has anyone got in yet? Again it stopped while I was trying to load the game. Why is it happening to me recently? Dandridge Jun 03, 2007, 11:45 AM Can't connect either. Maybe the server is down. namliaM Jun 05, 2007, 11:55 AM is everyone having problems connecting or is it just me? Mītiu Ioan Jun 05, 2007, 10:13 PM I had problems too ... even I want to check only if you, namilaM, finnished me or not yet ... :( Regards classical_hero Jun 06, 2007, 04:42 AM Apparently the game is still going, just that no one has been able to get access to the computer. Where is the host? namliaM Jun 06, 2007, 11:24 AM Now I can connect to the host, except I am stuck at the "Connected to host" Screen... lplayer Jun 10, 2007, 02:26 AM Im back from Rome and have rebooted to last saved player turn. I could not get acccess either The last turn was Classical hero on 3rd June 2007 namliaM Jun 10, 2007, 11:38 AM I was able to do my turn :) It took some looking around, but .... it looks like what I left it like. classical_hero Jun 22, 2007, 08:22 AM The timer and game is out. I am the only one still to play, so make sure that I can play it in time when reloading it. classical_hero Jun 25, 2007, 08:48 AM I cannot connect to this game. namliaM Jun 27, 2007, 10:50 PM I am timing out just now... lplayer Jun 28, 2007, 12:39 AM Reset! A lot of flooding here which is affecting the electricity - and my router! lplayer Jun 28, 2007, 12:44 AM While i am here, I just wanted to say thanks to those that played in this game up until now. The dimplomatic tension was intense at times- which always makes a good game. Im not sure that I like the dual continents as it makes or a game of 2 halves until the late game- which most are not arround to enjoy global exploration. The AI as usual played the complete idiot - from my point if view. May your fun continue.... classical_hero Jun 28, 2007, 07:11 AM If the flooding is too much of an hassle, then just take the server down until things are better. Of course try and notify us if things get too bad, but if it doess and we wee the game is down, then we will have an idea why it is down. Dandridge Jun 29, 2007, 12:15 PM Civstats for the game seems to be down, but the game is working and 1888 AD turn has changed. Just Namliam hasn't made his moves. namliaM Jun 29, 2007, 03:25 PM Just did my turn classical_hero Jun 30, 2007, 12:29 AM Just waiting for Dan to play his turn now. classical_hero Jun 30, 2007, 10:53 AM I am sick right now, so I am having GeoModder replace me until I feel better. GeoModder Jun 30, 2007, 03:46 PM Yup, and the turn has been played now. :) Waiting on the Mailman. namliaM Jul 01, 2007, 04:49 AM I played my turn, and CivStats is back up gentlemen (thank LPlayer) Good luck Geo GeoModder Jul 01, 2007, 06:11 AM Good luck won't be enough I think, a miracle sounds more like it. ;) Played. Dandridge Jul 02, 2007, 02:08 PM Civstats for this game appears to be down again, but the game is on and turn has changed into 1900 AD. Only Classical_hero/GeoModder left to make his moves. GeoModder Jul 03, 2007, 07:54 AM The (groovy) moves are made... GeoModder Jul 04, 2007, 05:46 AM That was not a nice thing to do. :nono: ;) Dandridge Jul 07, 2007, 09:30 AM Civstats down, but turn has changed into 1914 AD. GeoModder Jul 08, 2007, 03:26 PM Timecheck... namliaM Jul 09, 2007, 11:41 AM Game seems to be down? classical_hero Jul 15, 2007, 08:16 AM A note for GeoModder, I just played two turns. I wanted to see what the game was like and it is hopeless. On the first turn I accepted the cease fire, but then realising that there was no hope in continuing against such forces, that it would be better for it to become a one on one duel, so namliaM, just finish off the job, since you easily have the troops to do so. Dandridge Jul 15, 2007, 12:27 PM Connection dropped while I was logged in. Now the server seems to be down. lplayer Jul 16, 2007, 01:37 AM DanDridge. You got hit by lightning. Restored to your save turn when powere was restored. GeoModder Jul 20, 2007, 03:07 AM Okay, I'll stay away from the turns now. Better anyway, since with having BtS on my comp now Vanilla Civ has upgraded to a newer version (1.74) ;) namliaM Jul 27, 2007, 02:13 PM So are we going to patch to 1.74??? lplayer Jul 29, 2007, 02:29 AM As there are only 2 human player remining, I would like to suggest that you find a convenient time to you both to play this game out. I need to take this system down and do some much needed maintenace, and then bring it back up with a new PitBoss based on Beyond the Sword. I am sure one of you is close to a victory condition by now- especially as there are only 2 himans and no AI remaining. Les namliaM Jul 29, 2007, 04:11 AM Having to patch/reinstall/patch everytime I take my turn on Avalon... its a pain... I will -reluctantly- abandon this game if we cannot patch it... Dandridge Jul 29, 2007, 04:50 AM I can play with v1.61 or v1.74 or abandon this game right now. Can't play a lengthy session though. I prefer we end this game right now. Too many cities, too many units, too long distances, takes too much time to take care now. And I'd get the Score Vitory!:D classical_hero Jul 29, 2007, 10:24 AM well you could always dual install. That is what I have done and I have had no problems whatsoever, after getting it to recognise that I need to allow all versions to have connections to the net. It is a simple process, that even I was able to do. ;) lplayer Jul 30, 2007, 01:41 AM What is the victory status of both of you? Are either if you close to a win? namliaM Jul 30, 2007, 04:11 AM I think eventually Dan would win as he has more land ... Tho my cities are (I think) overall better equiped, due to the fact that I have owned most of them longer.... This will probably go space which will take a few more techs yet... and at one turn a day.... > 1 month? Dandridge Jul 30, 2007, 04:13 AM No condition very close I think. 110 turns left. I'd need about 8 % more pop and land. Have more pop, land, GNP, power, food, etc though. Dandridge Jul 31, 2007, 10:52 AM Since namliaM isn't playing anymore, I'll say now goodbye to this game, too. Lplayer, you can stop hosting the game. Thank you for everyone who where involved in this game. It took over a year! And special thanks goes of course to Lplayer for hosting this game so long:goodjob: Even after I conquered his English civilization. Very entertaining game although it would have been nice to have more civs still alive in the later stages. The decisive moments dated to the 17th century when Finland conquered Delhi - the Holy city of Buddhism. Buddhism was spread to most parts of our continent and I think England (Lplayer) gathered a conspiracy against Finland when Delhi was conquered. All the neighbours attacked Finland, but I was well prepared and timed the conquest of Delhi precisely. I conquered Delhi just when Taj Mahal started a golden age (followed immediately by a 2nd Golden Age with Great Persons) and I also got Cavalry on hand at the same moment. Also I made immediately a Culture Bomb in Delhi that pushed back the borders and slowed down the enimies. Then I just waited for England, China (Portuga) and Mongolia (HitAnyKey) to throw their troops to my hands destroying their large stacks one by one. Those were difficult and challenging times that needed great care to handle properly. If those 3 had somehow co-ordinated their attacks Finland could have quite well lost. Thank you.:) lplayer Aug 01, 2007, 01:23 AM Congratulations Finland. You are right , England worked hard in 17th century to get China, Mongolia and India to attack you. They did not see the urgency that I saw and battle for Delhi was the key to your success (or failure). By the time they were ready to attack you- it was too late, you were entrenched and had those Cav units. I felt bad about my own deceipt upon India - which led to the fall of Delhi, but England was pinned in a corner with no way to expand and had to take on India, China or Finland. I was so tempted to attack Chiina, which although looked strong, was actually found to be weak military. In hindsight it would have been better for me to take on China instead of India. But our escalating 'cold war' on the English Finland worder kept my troops locked into patrolling that border, and the Chinese boder was a lot further away that Delhi..... The Americans were invited to take up arms against Finland early in the game this did not appear to last long as I suspect he had his own problems on his own continent. As host I will decalare DanDridge Finland as winner with a huge lead of 5002 points against namliaM with 3819 Well done, and thanks to all those that took part. Game ended 1945 - started June 2006, ended July 2007. Les Dandridge Aug 01, 2007, 02:51 AM In hindsight it would have been better for me to take on China instead of India. But our escalating 'cold war' on the English Finland worder kept my troops locked into patrolling that border That's right. You should have attacked China, since I had promised not to attack England and I really would have kept my promise. The Americans were invited to take up arms against Finland early in the game this did not appear to last long as I suspect he had his own problems on his own continent. LOL, yeah that was funny. America (namliaM) tried to attack me by sea at some point with quite sizable army. It could have been succesful, but he had made me very suspicious by scouting my coast. I had time to protect my key coastal cities, but of course it slowed down my advance on the other fronts. namliaM Aug 01, 2007, 12:22 PM And I got some SERIOUS bad roles on that attack too... With attacks at 25+ % failing to do any damage at all.... not even a hitpoint lost :( The city would have razed easy if my first few attacks would have scratched the defenders even a little bit... The big "bad" I made offcourse was not to bring enough Frigates to bombard the defenses even more ... eventho I am far from sure that Dan would win this ... for a lot of my cities are much more developed.... I am happy I did rather good dispite war uppon war beeing -semi- forced on me from roughly 1000 bc onward. The Persians were lucky enough to start an Immortal/HA rush on me just 2 turns after I finished my first and the same turn I finished my second War Elephant, which despite their numbers drew us to a hold... This war stopped me dead in my tracks from expanding south from my location and cost a lot of effort (due to early number superiority) in both units and research funds for me to overcome. I learned a lot, had good fun and met some nice folks.... *Dibs on a spot in LPlayer's BtS game* (If you will have me) lplayer Aug 02, 2007, 01:01 AM I will complete my maintenance this weekend and will set up BTS Pitboss , and invite all regular players from this game to join- at least those with a good track record of playing theiir turns- which were most.
