Just thought I would ask if anyone else is getting a bit bored of BF2 @ times. Overall it's a great game! But if you end up pulling crap like this when waiting to seed a server you can see what happens

Great game, but most of the maps are rubbish, so it is pretty easy to get tired with it.

Great game, everything else is crap. I had the misfortune of meeting the system reqs on the box, only to find out upon installation that my video card is the only one not supported. I've played it at a friend's, though. I also know that the patching system is the worst that I have ever seen. BF 1942 is plenty good, though, so I just stick with that.

From what I've been told by people who play it, if you can bear EA's stupidity with the patches, and find a good password protected clan servor. It's a good game.

I'll stick to COD and RO.

I prefer Counter Strike for online killing fun but I love CoD. My friends and I have had some cracking games on the Huntegen level on the original

I've never had a problem with Battlefield 2, though I will concede this is influenced I only create a squad with friends, rather than with random people. Otherwise I fight alone.

There is a shortage of good maps, certainly not as many as with BF1942, and I think that the update of Wake Island testifies to this. Strike at Karkand and Gulf of Oman I find very addictive though. Nothing like a drawn-out street battle.

It's remarkable to see that city maps are so popular in BF2. Berlin and Stalingrad in BF1942 were often loathed. Also, vehicles have become much less popular, with people now preferring Infantry-only servers. A strange development for a game series that owes its fame to 'combined arms' on large maps.

Mainly becasue some people are darn too good with them and end up owning the sever, I dont mind really. I have my trusty C4 with me.

Indeed, the vehicle power has completely gone up now (though Kan remembers fond memories of fighting Anti-Tank literally side by side with his flatmate) compared to BF1942, where they were feared, but couldn't destroy everything.

And planes in '42 went slow enough that you could enjoy the scenery :lol:

Hmm, tough call.

Is it worth it? Yes. It's a wonderful game. Amount of servers? Hmm, I'll have to check, I haven't played in about a year due to server problems. :(

I've heard 1942 has got about 1,500 players at any given time. For comparison BF2 has about 6,500 I think.

Yes, at my local circuit city I was able to find BF 1942, all its expansions, and BF Vietnam all packaged together for....... $20 USD!

Yes. BF2 is boring, unoriginal, and to make matters worse they removed anything that made the game fun ~January. BF1942's graphics aren't as good, and it lacks some nice features that BF2 has. But overall, BF1942 is much more fun than its' predacessor. All about gameplay :king:

And IMO Vietnam isn't worth bothering with, whereas the bf1942 expansions definitely aren't worth bothering with. BF42 is a multiplayer game, and vanilla BF is what people play.

I read about that on a Dutch site but couldn't find the article when I posted. Indeed a sad development, as it doesn't make BF stand out anymore.

Well its only an optional mode. I sincerely doubt all 6000+ server will change to IO mode.

Of course it's optional, but it's clear that vehicles are becoming increasingly unpopular in BF. I must admit that vehicles started to annoy me as well before I stopped playing, while I loved them in BF1942.

The only thing you really cant fight against is Airplanes.

You just gotta be smart. Have team mate distract the tank with a machine gun while you take care of it. hell you can distract it by yourself. It's not a problem really.

In my old flat we had a LAN set up side by side. Made for great dual assaults as anti-tank personelle, calling out where the target was an backing each other up.

Moreso when playing as two spec ops and doing synchronised HALO drops into the enemy base to destroy radar/artillery points, then steal a vehicle and get out.

Does anyone know how to fly though? Everytime I try, I either clip a tall tower and die, or I plummet because I forgot to stabilize my center. :D

I use a joystick now, makes it far easier to smoothly fly and dogfight :)

On infantry mode I think the sprint ability lasts twice as long.

For those who's not afraid of getting stalked by other CFC members we could make a BF2S leaderboard with CFC BF2 players. This is a start (Volx is there just to show how to add player ids). If you're adding your pid press "get leaderboard" to get an URL with the new list and then post it. If you want some privacy you could make a second account and add it to the list (that's what I did).

I believe 'printscreen' automatically saves a screenshot to the battlefield folder in 'my documents'.

At least thats what I discovered.
