Looks good. Anyone know what the system requirements will be? I'd say a good 1gig of ram and a damn good video card. Will a x800gto support it even?

Get an Xbox 360. No need for drivers/cards/memory/luck!

It uses the same engine as BF2, if you can run it then you can run BF2142.

I'm planning on getting it for the 360. Alot of damn good games coming out this time of year. I love the end of year rush. Football Manager, Medevil Total War 2, Dead Rising

I pray to the Gods for one thing, not for a system to run the new games, only that my girlfriend forgives me for all the neglect that is forthcoming....

No Battlefield: Bad Company is coming out for 360. 2142 is staying on PCs.

The demo for BF2142 came out yesterday. My impressions so far is that it's pretty much the same stuff, and nothing spectacular.

I beg to differ....

Don't get me wrong, it was delightful to watch the mechs lumbering across the battlefield, and playing Titan mode with battles in corridors :D . Just doesn't seem like that big a jump that BF2 was over BF42.

That said, i've read a lot of previews and reports that the demo is nothing compared to the finished product.

Yeah you dont have any unlocks so no sweet C7 for us. I'm glad they added a sniper scope sway so noobs cant use it so easily. I also love when you knife someone you get their dogtags. And the drop pods....god they just make me wanna fap.

Drop pods are exceptionally good fun. Having a blast just launching myself into the sky trying to land on the Titan. And corridor battles rock :goodjob:

Had a drunken multiplayer set up last night, with my friend hooked up next to me. Good fun trying to fly those airships around...felt very sorry for anybody else who was in the transport with us  . That said, i did manage a couple of good drops in a battlezone, and a rescue of my friend when he was surrounded. Good times.

Also love watching the desperate evacuations as a Titan goes down.

Yeah usually if my titans gonna blow I sprint to the emergency titan drop pods and blast myself out of there just in the last second. Cant wait for the full game.

Yeah on the front deck where the aircraft spawn there should be, 3 pods on each side, six pods total.

Does this game have a skirmish mode with bots. I live in a house with a lot of people and there is too much lag for gaming. I was wondering if this is purely a multiplayer game.

The full game will have, though based on the previous games the single-player mode simply isn't worth buying the game for. The AI is pretty terrible, I'm afraid.

Thanks. I'm not saying I will never play MP but the majority of the time I will have to play against bots. Plus I suck horribly in FPS's anyways :)

And this game has spyware in it

Kozmos
Oct 18, 2006, 05:18 PM
Oh god not another one....

This game has nothing that is like spyware. It has IGA, that simply scans your region and puts appropriate ads on billboards. For example like this cool pepsi ad.

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8571/bf2142billboard2ha4fq8.jpg

If it was spyware then it would be promptly detected and removed by Spybot and AdAware. Since that has not happened your argument is a grand oversimplification and is utter failure.

You lose, good day sir.

Just reading headlines on digg, no need to be like my ex about it (hence the reason why he is an ex. still doesn't have a clue)

Eh? I need no comparisons! I have just returned from the most retarded forum on the face of the earth where every 3 threads are named "OMg this gamez has spwaresz"

Dealing with idiocy on such a large scale is tiring. Apologies if offended.

I was just going on a tangent of my own. Ran into him in a bar while on a date with my current significant other, talk about ackward

Anyways, if a game cost so much that it needs advertisements then they should just have it cost more. Something about the whole idea bothers me.

I think it's a good idea. It will provide motivation for the company to keep improving the game after the purchase.

Though I haven't come across it yet, I don't mind the thought of advertising in games set in modern times. But Battlefield is set over a hundred years away - I don't want modern-day products to take the atmosphere away.

From the Dev Team:

We are also conscious that the advertisement shouldn’t distract the player from the overall gaming experience, so all ads fit in the unique environment of each level in the game. The content of the ads is also controlled to ensure that no offensive content is displayed in Battlefield 2142.

All in all I dont care either way, I'm probably going to get the game in a week or so.

PEPSI offends me! Coke all the way!

Kan' Sharuminar
Oct 19, 2006, 11:16 AM
If they put some effort into it, such as making the adverts look like they belong there (Pepsi Future? :p ) then it might just work. Otherwise it won't do anything other than spoil the game - especially if, like in some other EA games - they put in advertisments for actual modern video games.

I will be buying 2142 regardless...it's more about the action and the playing alongside friends in a squad. Just need my next paycheck :p
