Four more Civilization IV: Warlords reviews have appeared on the web since the last reviews update:
Boomtown: 8/10 (http://pc.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=12154) (August 17, 2006)
The real meat of the expansion though are the new scenarios which offer plenty of variety and interesting gameplay nuances. However they do tend to be rather tricky, even for experience players. But then if you were a Civ IV novice you probably wouldn't have read this review now would you? Warlords is a worthy addition to the game, but do shop around as the RRP does seem a little pricey.
HonestGamers: 8/10 (http://www.honestgamers.com/systems/content.php?review_id=4997&game_id=21829&console_id=13) (August 16, 2006)
This isn’t an expansion pack that will make you rethink how you play, yet that’s not a bad thing. I liked the original and I still do. If you’re the same way, then $30 is about right for the excuse to play through this a few more times—or a few dozen. Reinventing the wheel would have been stupid. Civilization IV was good before and now with the Warlords expansion pack, it’s better. End of story.
Lawrence: 7.8/10 (http://www.lawrence.com/news/2006/aug/16/review_civilization_iv_warlords/) (August 16, 2006)
While the changes are few and generally small, they do add to the wide array of strategic options available and offer just enough variety to make you want to pull the game out of the digital closet all over again. Hardcore Civ fans and those who enjoyed the scenarios found in older expansions for Civ II & III will enjoy this upgrade, while others could probably do without it or wait for this to hit the bargain bin. Either way, consider this a noble effort from the Firaxis team.
iAfrica: 8/10 (http://games.iafrica.com/reviews/pc/iac/928287.htm) (August 15, 2006)
'Civilization IV' was always going to be tough to improve and the lack of being overwhelmed to the point of your brain popping with new possibilities, is the only seriously big obstacle to adding this expansion to your games collection.
According to GameRankings (http://www.gamerankings.com), the average rating for Civ4 Warlords based on 19 reviews remains at 81%.
