View Full Version : Foreign Intelligence
1889 Sep 03, 2006, 03:11 AM I’ve been working with the demographics screen. By cross referencing all the data it’s like a big logic puzzle that can tell us all kinds of stuff. It is time consuming work and not without error, but I’m still checking and making new discoveries and am currious to see just how much I can extract.
This information fits the data that I currently have, but I can not be certain that it is the only interpretation of that data. In the end all theories should be judged by the validity of their predictions so until I can show any valid predictions this may turn out to be little more than my best guess.
1889 Sep 03, 2006, 03:14 AM Some builds can be determined by the effect they have on power, but most are invisible. However a long delay in population growth can indicate a settler/worker and I am trying to see if I can track health and happiness. Mostly though, at this stage when there are few build options, I have just made counted up the hammers and food to see if it fits.

1889 Sep 03, 2006, 03:16 AM We have plans to get Alphabet so soon we'll be able to read most of this from the Trade Advisor, but untill then it looks like they have this:
BAT: Fishing + Mysticism, Agriculture, Mining, Polytheism, Bronze
GWT: Agriculture + Mining, Hunting, Animal Husbandry, Bronze
COG: Hunting + Mining, Fishing, Wheel, Archery
GCA: Hunting + Wheel, Fishing, Agriculture, Mining, Animal Husbandry

dutchfire Sep 03, 2006, 03:46 AM good work, have you seen the ones Robi, Robboo and I have done in the beginning? They're in the President's thread.
1889 Sep 03, 2006, 05:52 AM Yes, that inspired me to try and get even more out of the demographics.
robboo Sep 03, 2006, 08:46 AM I have a few problems with some of your results...
FOR exmple..you say fishign researched...it could be a number of things that wont show up. How did you come to these conclusions.
Take BAT for example....I dont think they told us they research fishing.
I would like to caution anyone to use these as definitive intelligence. AS time passesd it gets harder and harder to figure exactly whats going on just becaue of the different possibilites being opened. IF you are off on the first thign...everything else if based on that could be off as well.
1889 Sep 03, 2006, 12:59 PM I agree this information should be used with caution.
BAT's score increased in 3800. The demographics show no population increase so they must have gotten a tech. Without scouts, getting one for free would be rare. According to their GNP graph they had a maximum of 60 beakers for science, so it had to be Fishing or Hunting, but Hunting would have shown as an increase on their power graph. A few turns latter GNP went up to 12, MFG 1, Crop 4 so it would seem they switched a citizen to work a fresh water tile.
I'm pretty sure about this one although few of the other results are so well documented.
robboo Sep 03, 2006, 01:05 PM OK that makes sense....just wondering how you got there.
1889 Oct 10, 2006, 01:19 PM Ok, I got this stuff working pretty well now. Still not 100%, after all someone could build a warrior and pop a free one from a hut on the exact same turn they discover masonry and it would look just like mining, but that seems unlikely.
BAT: Fishing, Agriculture, Mysticism, Mining, Polytheism, Bronze
COG: Fishing, Wheel, Hunting, Mining, Archery
GCA: Fishing, Wheel, Agriculture, Hunting, Mining, Animal Husbandry
GWT: Agriculture, Hunting, Mining, Animal Husbandry, Bronze
Suggestion of some trade proposals by a sly diplomat may be able to double check this.
dutchfire Oct 10, 2006, 01:36 PM Lots of fishing, starting techs or did they research it?
1889 Oct 10, 2006, 01:53 PM None of them had as a starting tech, but all capitol cities are adjacent to water so I think it would be on everyone’s wish list.
dutchfire Oct 11, 2006, 01:51 AM It makes me think they all have searesources.
Robi D Oct 11, 2006, 06:26 AM Well reading the demographics isn't an exact science (it wouldn't be fun then) but from everything i've seen 1889, your pretty spot on. It has been said the starts were roughly even so its safe to assume all of us had a sea resource near the capital
1889 Oct 11, 2006, 12:33 PM Looking back over the COG chat from early Sept they said they were building a settler which would have been completed this turn (they plan to settle south) Bronze will be done in 6-7 turns.
Also GCA has completed a worker and is now building a settler.
1889 Oct 13, 2006, 12:39 PM Updated GWT techs and added builds.
classical_hero Oct 14, 2006, 03:53 AM 1889, if you wanted to have some reserve posts, you could always ask one of the mods to do that for you.
1889 Oct 15, 2006, 11:26 AM COG just settled a new city (2600BC). 8 of 9 initial tiles are land.
1889 Nov 04, 2006, 04:12 AM Team summary: Many of these builds do not show up on demographics so the accuracy of these lists can be questioned but they do give a very good account of the sort of production that is available to them.
