View Full Version : Term 4 President's Thread
Robi D Sep 05, 2006, 10:10 AM Ok the general is back in action, pity there is no donsig to run circles around;).
Anyway just so we all know, i wont be posting screenies every turn if nothing new has happened but i will be giving a run down of events. Every 5 or so turns i do a general review. If the is a sceenie you want to see or any other info ask and you will receive:)
Ok now the goals for term 4.
- Founding 3rd city near clams and cows
- Aquiring clams and cows
- Starting settler for 4th city
- Discovering Fishing
- Being at least half way to Metal Casting
- Building at least one library
- Hopefully explore our entire continent
- Maintain No.1 spot for production
- Get into Top 2 for Gold
- Actually give our Foreign Minister something to do:)
Those are off the top of my head so if i've missed something you know what to do.
Thats about it for now
robboo Sep 05, 2006, 12:45 PM What will you do to us if we post...
Slaughters us like that stack of your troops that got slaughtered at a city named Seaport. Hell of a drop in your power :)..little bitty one for me.:)

Barbarian Warrior sighted NE of Hello, some XP's are coming up.
Research at 100%, 134 gold, -2gpt.
BCLG100 Sep 12, 2006, 06:18 AM I think we also need to start thinking about horses, maybe our 4th city?
We need them for cossaks (which all though a long way into the future) wont hurt to have :)
robboo Sep 12, 2006, 06:27 AM Well if no one is nearby to fight us...we can wait on the horseys. I think its time to REX. I think we can and should have 2 to 3 more cities up by the end of this term.
Robi D Sep 14, 2006, 01:24 AM I forgot to put it in, but i checked, Metal Casting is still going to take 43 turns currently. Hopefully with a third city, cottages and some libraries we can halve that.
BCLG100 Sep 14, 2006, 04:40 AM it should hopefully go down a little bit due to the cottage being started near hello.

With the Explorer in looks like the foreign office might get something to do this term. I would suggest heading in a general South West direction but everones welcome to have a say.
For those who likes numbers, we have exactly 20% of the worlds population and 2.33% of the land. Not much movement in the demographics except the leader in gold went from 19 to 22.
robboo Sep 18, 2006, 05:52 AM South west looks goood..but I think you might see nothing but water and end up heading NW towards the forest above the cows.
just looks like water tiles near teh edges of most of the visible tiles.

Fishing in 2
Research 100%, 130g, -2gpt
Its looking promising for our explorer to the SW. I think we should keep going that way.
With the cottage being worked now Metal Casting has dropped from 43 to 41 turns at the current rate.
With the worker nearly built in Hello, should we build a military unit or library.
Should we lay down another cottage outside Hello?
robboo Sep 18, 2006, 10:51 AM I say POP it. keep going where you want to:)
What to build next..do you have a unit to guard the settler. And can you crank out a library adn a unit in the time left on the settler build. If so...then do libary then unit otherwise unit then library.
cottage...interesting..should we put a cottage and maybe not have enough food to work all teh tiles that give hammers are should we farm the green tiles and cottage the brown. What you do right now will help determine teh long term city use....my opinion cottage the brown tile(E of city) and farm the other green(W of city) that is bordering water. Then start a road to where the next city will be.
in hello we have 5 farmable tiles to give 3 food each. We have 5 tiles that give 1 food......:)
BCLG100 Sep 18, 2006, 02:28 PM Send the axe with the settler, Hello can always crank out another unit for protection of the capital.
Cottage a few tiles around Hello, it wont be able to grow very big for awhile as we dont have any lux's and not too many units availiable for MP duty.
Pop the hut
Robi D Sep 19, 2006, 02:24 AM There is an axe and warrior in Aloha and a spear and warrior in Hello, so we have flexibility on this front. We can do an axe - library build in hello. In aloha we could do a work boat - library.
As for the cottages, i would build another one or two, we don't need rapid growth at the moment as we can't support it past 5 or 6, but given the open space i think its better to expand outwards a little more
BCLG100 Sep 19, 2006, 05:13 AM I think depending on maintenance costs we should do an axe settler build in Hello, get that 4th city up and running.
robboo Sep 19, 2006, 06:21 AM try to do librarires first in the builds if feasible...that was our whole reason for going for writing.
Robi D Sep 19, 2006, 06:31 AM The third city will have the clam and cows so that should be up to speed quickly to start the settler for our 4th city.
I would like to get the libraries built to get MC as quickly as possible, both for the extra science and it allows us to run science specialists. I'm also thinking of a second cottage and farm for Hello, and a cottage on the river for Aloha along with more mining, with pigs and rice we can be working all the hills.
GeorgeOP Sep 19, 2006, 10:02 AM I think we should build a workboat in Aloha next. Along with hooking up those cows, City 3 will really grow quickly wth the clams. Although libraries are good, I don't think we're generating enough commerce to justify building them yet.
Also, are we going to send a unit out after the barb to the east or are we going to wait for him to enter our lands?
BCLG100 Sep 19, 2006, 10:42 AM i think we may as well wait for him to get a little closer

Robi D Sep 22, 2006, 07:59 AM No idea:crazyeye:
Can't be pop (we are building a settler and worker in our two cities.
There was no cultural expansion so no extra land, and no one went backwards.
The jump happened the turn before but i didn't notice it, but nothing happend the turn before that to make it jump so i don't really know.
We hit first as fishing was discovered after ending the turn but we will see if we stay there when the next term arrives

Alohan's: Masters of the sea!
1/4 Term Report, I'm still in charge and we are still alive, go figure;)
Aloha - Settler in 3
Hello - Worker finished, Library in 11
I decide to name the workers to make it easier to describe
Worker W of Aloha (now Builder) Road on mine, finished in 2
Worker S of Hello (Brick Layer) Cottage finished in 3
New worker between cities (Plumber) Will start on road next turn
Barb Warrior reappears, he seem to be just wondering between the tiles
Explorer (i think i'll name him too:) ) climbs hill, see more land to the SW, mainly desert
Fishing Complete
Metal Casting started, due in 40
Research 100%, 170g, -2gpt
With the water tiles now open to us, once the settler is finished we can stagnate growth as we wont be able to support much more pop in aloha anyway and use the lake tiles, this will cut MC to 27 from the 40. With a pop increase and the cottage on the river this will be in the low 20's.
Plumber will start building road to our new city from next turn, i sent a warrior from aloha to keep him company.
All in all we are on track with the plans for this term.
BCLG100 Sep 25, 2006, 06:36 AM what did you name the explorer then? :)
we can grow another pop or 2 in aloha cant we? i think we should at least grow to size 5 so then we can fill the granary up-right now its just not doing anything at all.
I think we should build a work boat next in aloha, then a defensive unit to protect the city then send out another workboat to explore (barbs arnt on are they?)
Robi D Sep 25, 2006, 06:44 AM what did you name the explorer then? :)

We can go to 5 in Aloha, and 4 or 5 in Hello, so i will let it grow to the max before stagnating, then we can rake the gold in, which should take us into the top 2 for gold.
I'm planning a work boat stright after the settler in Aloha, then depends on how other things are going but more than likely i'm thinking a settler or library.
I think we can get MC down to about 20 turns, which would be fantastic.
Haven't named the explorer yet, but i was thinking maybe Sirian Eyes or something. If i get bored enough i'll end up naming all the units:D
All in all i have to say we are looking good for the long term.
BCLG100 Sep 25, 2006, 07:12 AM Ah right yeah, forgot we didnt have a library in Aloha-thats got to be top of the build list.
You gonna send the axe in aloha with the settler? if so may as well send him off now so he can arrive same time as the settler.

It looks like Epsilon got Code of Laws with the Oracle, or it was just a very big coincidence that confucianism and oracle happened on the same turn. They might go for CS next. Or the other thing that might have happened is that they timed the oracle to be finished on CoL being researched. I guess it depends on how rushed they felt in completeing it.
BCLG100 Sep 28, 2006, 05:20 PM I think with dave at the head that was probably intentional and i reckon they have got CS, we can see shortly if/when they enter beuracracy that gnp and mfg will rise (may even be able to tell from the demographics page).
Did you send the axe in aloha off to make space for the city?
Robi D Sep 28, 2006, 10:00 PM The axeman has been dispatched to watch over our new outpost.

Both Innovia and Loco have Slavery
Innovia has the 2nd best city Wheelville
I can see Innovia has 2 cities, Loco has 3.
Innovia is higher then Loco in gold but a long way behind in production
As for the demographics, we are;
Gold 5th - Production 3rd - Food 2nd - Soldiers 2nd - Land 5th - Pop 5th.
As you can see we have dropped back a little in production. We are still behind in gold but that will change next turn as Aloha will hit its max pop.
Love Oct 12, 2006, 04:38 AM OK so we are a little bit in the middle for best civ?
BCLG100 Oct 12, 2006, 08:13 AM We're doing ok, we've only got one of our traits to work with for the time being (creative) as financial doesnt come into play so much until we start getting the cottages up and running/working the sea tiles.
We should also probably overtake innovia and piffle within a couple of turns with a new city and a couple of pop boosts.
From the looks of things so far we also seem to be not so close to other civs so that gives us quite a bit of room to expand.
GeorgeOP Oct 13, 2006, 06:45 AM We're one turn away from settling a new city. Maybe the other teams are one or two turns ahead of us in founding a third city. The worst number is 3rd in production, but that is right in the middle and will also bump with a new city.

Robi D Oct 17, 2006, 08:19 AM did innovia accept OB?

Nothing from Innovia. I don't see the harm of Loco's offer myself but i figured i should at least notify the team before accepting. Afterall by the time Locos warrior gets near us (if he ever does) we can always cancel it if we don't want them snooping around.
There is also the issue of there religions getting into our cities to consider but without a trade route to either of them it wont be happening for a while at least.
BCLG100 Oct 17, 2006, 08:23 AM Yup and having some religion in our cities would not be a negative. Even if it meant they could see in :)
Robi D Oct 17, 2006, 08:26 AM I don't have a problem with them seeing in as long as we can see them, which with Innovia we can, but i'm sure in time we will find Loco too.

We will have our first library next turn and Hej's borders will expand:)
Also we can research Alphabet next if we can reach a deal with Innovia or Loco, otherwise i would like to beeline calandar so we can get happiness from the silks and grow our cities further

Also with the food stock piles getting full in Hello we can start to look at using our Scientist in Hello.
With the border expansion in Hej we are now number 1 in Land area.
Love Oct 28, 2006, 04:41 AM When we are finished whith metal casting.
The others are DEAD!!!
robboo Oct 28, 2006, 06:41 AM OK...we are doing good...

No iron working for us, but looking at the relevant numbers no one appears to have it. I guessing everyone has found nice wide open starts and tried to get a jump on non military techs
PS- IW would take 7 turns
Love Oct 28, 2006, 09:29 AM but we must cut down those stubid jungles...

Well shock horror, Innovia has not sent Open Borders:rolleyes: . Sirians Eyes moves back next to the Barb city. I will guide him around it keeping to the forests to minimise an chance of a barb getting lucky and killing him. If they do eventually agree we can always loop around to investigate later
Surveyor returns 1 tile north to keep watch over the location for city 4
Hello worked tiles changed around to accomodate scientist. We keep the production but lose some gold (sorry forgot the sceenshot). The beakers from the scientist means reasearch time doesn't change but we start generating GP points.
As mentioned in the domestics thread I think we should go back and do Sailing(4 turns) next, then Maths(9) and Calandar(15). Two reasons for this, firstly it might open up some trade routes and secondly there is a large undiscovered area just to our west and i think it would be good to see whats there as it could be a possible second route to other civs.
Finally, i've done a bit of guesstimating. Now if there is no civs closer than Innovia to us and if you look at an average rate of expansion , then the time our borders are in range of other civs should be about the time our UU(cossasks) is in their prime. That gives us all something to look forward to:D

Robi D Nov 01, 2006, 01:19 PM do you still keep offering them OB?
No, we have spelled it out to them, its in their hands. In the meantime i want to continue exploring
BCLG100 Nov 01, 2006, 04:33 PM well i spoke to dutchfire about it
told him basically he aint getting info until we get OB.
apparantly there was a change in turn players or something so confusion reigned :S
robboo Nov 01, 2006, 07:14 PM par for the course with them..confusion.
BCLG100 Nov 01, 2006, 07:19 PM i dunno at least someone there knows what they're doing....as opposed to loco!
Robi D Nov 02, 2006, 03:43 AM How hard is it for turnplayer A to tell turnplayer B to send it, come to think of it, would this have not been discussed in the forum for everyone to see. Anyway, even if the send OB i'll do a circuit of the barb city to see whats around our future territory:evil:
BCLG100 Nov 02, 2006, 05:22 AM well just look at c3c mtdg, kiss and donuts had a good relationship but it still took 4/5 requests for you to send coal at one point ;)
robboo Nov 02, 2006, 09:44 AM lets just kill the annoying teams
BCLG100 Nov 02, 2006, 10:20 AM ah rob what a diplomat you'd make!
Robi D Nov 02, 2006, 01:08 PM well just look at c3c mtdg, kiss and donuts had a good relationship but it still took 4/5 requests for you to send coal at one point ;)
I wasn't in charge at that time, heads would have rolled otherwise;)
Although i must say at that stage with 60 odd cities there was a lot more to do.
@robboo i think we will keep you away from foreign affairs:p
robboo Nov 02, 2006, 02:20 PM Like I said..diplo is not my thing...
Thats why i am in trouble in the CDZ game...I got caught in an inconistency.
