One of the worst problems with the AI is that trading from them is like stealing candy from children. The gift-trade-cancel gift-exploit is an example of that.
But even worse (because you can avoid the exploit by not doing it) is that they never offer realistic sums for techs or resources.
If they can trade 1000 gold (and the other AIs can only trade 10-20 gold), they will offer ALL for some lousy old tech I discovered hundreds of years ago. Is that sum the same as their whole treasure chest? Then it's outright stupid to offer all at once for one tech!
They should weigh in how much they need a tech and think: Are the wonders you can build with it already built? Do I really need Divine Right? I'll just offer some pocket change for that. Maybe Flight is good, since my cities are so far apart? My cities are unhealthy, I want to pay a LOT for Medicine. Darn, my military is weak, I need a good military tech, so I'll offer much for that, less for , let's say, Philosophy. Hmm, I actually need TWO new techs, maybe I can offer some for the 1st and save some for the 2d?
They don't seem to be doing that at all....Or do they?
