View Full Version : Turn 60-69
DaveShack Sep 11, 2006, 02:15 AM Well, we haven't had a volunteer to take over as primary turnplayer, so...
Turn 60 received, BCLG says his term as turnplayer is up.
Pottery complete, started Priesthood.
Warrior to NE enters village, received 69 gold. We now have 233 and are running at -1 gpt.
SE warrior sees a hut. Evidently the Loco warrior missed it on their way by, or they didn't come from this direction.
Worker starts a cottage on floodplain. Ploughland hasn't culture expanded yet and we want to buzz through some techs while we build the oracle.
The N warrior moved to the top of the hill 2NW of Ploughland and sees a lion in the distance.

DaveShack Sep 14, 2006, 02:11 AM Our warrior enters the village and is rewarded with experience. Not the best result but better than a sharp stick to the eye. We have surpassed Epsilon to move into 3rd place for score, not that it really matters much.
Priesthood in 3, Warrior in 2, Settler in 5. We have 232g, -2gpt at 100%.
Theoden Sep 14, 2006, 09:31 AM The warrior should probably take woodsman I & II just to explore a bit faster.
How long will writing take to research once we're finished with priesthood?
DaveShack Sep 16, 2006, 05:11 PM Our warrior already had city attack I, a slip of the mouse from centuries ago. It got woodsman I.
Nothing really to report. Exploring, border expansion in ploughland. Settler in 4 turns, priesthood finishes next turn. Sorry, I forgot to look ahead at writing.
DaveShack Sep 19, 2006, 03:16 AM Turn 63 is in, but it's too late at night to play it now.
What do we want to build next in Ploughland? We finish a warrior this turn.
The settler finishes in 3 turns. Final decision coming up on placing city 3, and what to build next?
We only have 2 growth (counting the one we're partway through) until we start to get  citizens. Adopt our state religion now?
I'll check back in the morning and play, hope to see your comments. :)
dutchfire Sep 19, 2006, 11:05 AM adopt state religion as late as possible.
Do we have 2 workers already, if not, build one, if we do, maybe a building like a granary to develop the city more.
dutchfire Sep 23, 2006, 02:20 PM turn played
finished priesthood, started writing
Theoden Sep 23, 2006, 03:52 PM How many turns is writing?
dutchfire Sep 24, 2006, 10:53 AM ehm, I think it was seven, but I'm not sure.
DaveShack Sep 24, 2006, 10:44 PM Thanks for covering it. :)
DaveShack Sep 26, 2006, 10:51 AM Got it. Actually yesterday, but didn't realize it.
NE warrior sees that the penninsula is a dead end, will need to backtrack.
Writing is due in 5 turns.
Settler due in 1 turn, need settlement location and next build.
Worker due in 7.
Check happieness level next turn, we'll be back in a position where a city is growing.
224g -2gpt so we can run full speed for a while longer even with a 3rd city.
dutchfire Sep 27, 2006, 10:49 AM I guess our shot at Oracle is over now.
Theoden Sep 27, 2006, 01:38 PM Indeed, it is. :(
We can still try to research CoL anyway though, unless they chose it as free tech. Or we could go alphabet and be an early tech broker if we meet more civs.
1889 Sep 27, 2006, 04:38 PM Well in that case we can build a temple in about 7 turns in our capitol, then we can have a preist who will provides an additional hammer.
I think we should adopt slavery and Hinduism next turn as well.
In the north lets connect that copper so we can start thinking about axemen to maybe capture that barbarian city in the east. Lets at least send a warrior to have a better look at it.
1889 Sep 27, 2006, 05:17 PM The city is probably here so this path will let us see everything there is to see without giving the archers a shot.

dutchfire Sep 28, 2006, 05:27 AM What about researching meditation for monastries?
DaveShack Sep 29, 2006, 11:41 AM Turn 66 played:
Settler completed, started temple.
Since we don't have a definite answer on location, moved the settler to Ploughland.
dutchfire Oct 03, 2006, 01:23 AM Turn 67 played, moved the settler N-NE, there's a nice spot there with clams and a land-foodresource. (If we settle in the desert)
1889 Oct 05, 2006, 05:19 PM Time to adopt state religion; otherwise well have unhappiness when the capitol grows in 2 turns. Might as well take slavery too while we're at it.
DaveShack Oct 06, 2006, 01:38 AM Got it for turn 68
Settler meets up with escort.
Converted to Hinduism and changed civics to slavery. We're spiritual, so it costs nothing.
Writing due in 2, and are we sure we want to settle that coastal desert spot?
Don't know if this has been reported before, but someone got confucionism already! Must have been what they took for oracle slingshot.
DaveShack Oct 10, 2006, 10:16 AM Settler + escort moved to hilltop to check for animals / barbs, none seen. Couldn't move & settle this turn anyway. Exploring warriors keep exploring, nothing to report.
Writing is done, time to choose next tech.
I'll be adding a closeup screenie and detailed discussion of settlement location. Certain placements would cause us to include unwanted desert tiles and miss out on precious non-desert ones.
