Everyone has his/her own 'favourite' worst enemy.
I found mine in a current game. His name, Asoka.
Why? Religion hunter and cottage spammer.
He always runs away in tech.
In vanilla, had a lot of enemies, because of a state religion,
but in Warlords his favourite civic is Free Religion.
And now this, the first time I got nuked in civ4.

I'm playing vanilla, but mine is Alex. Everytime he is in a game he guns for me first thing.

I like that the notice that a city got nuked and the notice that a missionary failed both have three "!". I think those are both the same importance. :)

I'm placing a bet and giving 3:1...

I bet 100 Quatloos that Tatran was the one that built Manhatten Project in the first place! :p

I'm not that . Frederick built the Manhattan Project.
At some point we were at war with 5 civs and they all declared war.
I'm more a peaceful person. :mischief: I don't even have nukes.

Alex and Monty always give me grief. So does Izzy, but she's easy to wipe out. :p India and Cyrus always choke me, but they're usually easy to slap around, too. :)

Roosevelt is also hard. He always hordes units like mad. In of my games he was building the space ship so I thought lets invade him with my superior force only to find out he was in the lead of techs and had 2 times more troops then I had.

Worst enemy is however Monty. He backstabbed me so many times, it isn't funny anymore (goes off to Sisiutils last ALC to see if he gets nuked to bits).

Tough luck on the nuke though. Thank god that has never happened to me yet. I haven't used nukes yet because it feels unethical :p

When I was first playing Civ4 like a total newb and letting my domination games last long into the modern era, I've been nuked by Gandhi, so I wouldn't be surprised if Asoka did the same.

wow! you got nuked when you don't even have nukes!
First time i see this!

My personnal "enemy" is Isabella. I know i'll be on her bad side at some point because of religion, so i go on preemptive wars in each and every game vs her.

Monty. He was the one that almost cost me a space race victory in one of my early games. I was happily building the last part of the space ship, with an army right out of Stargate: humans (me) vs goa'uld (him). Then Monty declares war on me. At that time I didn't know about Monty's preference for weak, tasty victims, but the fact that I've already been in war with him AND razed a couple of his cities should have given me a clue, right? :D

Well, needless to say my building time was getting longer instead of shorter when Monty started to bomb the mines and occupy the tiles outside my city. I brought almost all that I had in there, lost a couple of cities (archer vs gunship doesn't seem to do a very good job somehow) but I still managed to finish it.

These days, Monty's going down first if he shows his ugly head near enough.

Oh, and to keep in touch with the thread: YOU GOT NUKED?!?

P.S. I wanted to experiment once and disabled the "easy" wins - Domination and Space Race. I ended up with a cultural win after almost everybody finished the tech tree around 1800. Didn't have the mood to go for conquest, diplomacy wasn't an option. Boy, was that boring or was that boring.

Then again, I'm a tech trader that could put Mansa Musa to shame, so in my games almost everybody's well ahead in techs compared to the "normal" development.

Montezuma. He's declared war on me like 100 times.

I dislike Isabella and Peter.

Isabella refused to convert to Confuciansim which I had spread to every single one of my neihbours and insted kept her heathan religon whatever it was. Not only that she called my religon heathen! Thus I amassed a large army on her borders and prepare to spread Confuciansim by the sword...

Peter demanded some techs from me or "help" as he called it. I never give anything for free. He will pay in due time.

peter is a pain in the ass in most of my games too!
i just can't stand his perpetual demands...

If I am on pleased or better status with someone, I usually let them have the techs they want, because I invariably need them to do a little warmongering later for me.

Silver: Isabella always founds her own religion and will not convert from it, even if yours has spread to every one of her cities. If I want to be friendly with her I will usually wait until she spreads hers to mine then convert to hers. Most times I couldn't care less if she likes me or not because she goes all out for religion too much and stunts her growth, so she isn't usually that big of a problem.

Tokugawa is my worst enemy. "Stop trading with this guy!" " no" "Tokugawa declares War!"

and he NEVER signs open borders unless you have a. like. +2 modifier. GAH.

I hate Cyrus. He is always good and attacks me in the industrial-modern age during my infrastructure buildup.

*cyrus has gave some headakes, as did napoleon in vanilla, but nothing compared to the scourge of god that is monte'

As long you aren't alone with Montezuma and/or he isn't annoyed
with you he won't trouble you.

A picture of the same area after more than 100 nukes.
Asoka and Frederick kept on launching them, so I couldn't
resist to play that game too. :D

Not so much for what he does, as for that look he gives you.

Mansa is mine, I kick his butt some then sign peace for a while. A couple of turns later he comes asking me for a tech!! every freaking 10 turns. Even when he's furious at me he comes asking "you kicked my ass so hard my mouth tastes like s@#t, can you teach me the secrets of Kung Fu"
Calm down.

Second to Mansa is Napolean, does anybody make more demands than him?

Monty and Toku are annoying but I know what to expect from them.

Lately Napoleon has been giving me the most grief - he seems to like to declare on you in 3000 BC for no other reason than to send two units to go pillaging.

true, but i like nappy for one thing : he's the only AI that can wage war effectively (so if i bribe him vs another, i know there will be action)

I've found that Bismark is much more effective for this than Nappy. I just keep him on good terms and he takes out my problems.
