View Full Version : Ahg! What the?! R:TW Question|Problem
101rstImperial Sep 22, 2006, 09:42 PM :( I went out and got R:TW today.
Installed it and went to play, could move around the Campaign map fine, but actually commanding battles makes it crash - every single time.
Switched to my better, NVidia GeForce card, checked the Bios and it still freakin' crashes.
It's driving me up a wall, what's a TW game without battles?! Anyone got any idea on whats wrong?
/Yes, it's patched up to 1.3.
Krupo Sep 22, 2006, 11:51 PM Weird. Two suggestions. 1. Try older Nvidia drivers. I had another gaming problem and that helped. 2. Try minimum graphics settings and see if that makes a difference.
3. Try a skirmish battle - faster way of getting into that gaming interface - plus check to see if that makes a difference.
Good luck - hope one of these suggestions helps!
Tank_Guy#3 Sep 27, 2006, 11:50 AM I have an SiS760 video card and during certain parts of the game it will crash. Most commonly during the speech before the battle (when I command battle personally). This happens with all factions, but it seems to happen more with Cavalry based nations such as the Parthians and Sarmatians. With the Sarmatians it happened when I was selecting which building to build, as soon as I hit the button to scroll to another city my computer rebooted.
It is a video card stop error (the old BSD). I updated my driver, it happens less, but it still happens, so I've stayed with more stable factions.

SiS760? Is that your motherboard?

So you're using on-board video rather than a stand-alone card, eh?

I used a utility that came with C&C Generals that determined your system components and resources (kind of like the System Information utility, in a more easily read form, and I was too lazy to actually use other resources to find out what I actually had). I got this quite awhile ago. I have been thinking of trying to upgrade, but money is rather tight. Also this computer was a gift, and not deisgned by me, if it was, I would have a much improved video card, though I must admit that 64 bit AMD Anthlon is a nice addition.
I want to say at the time this was the only thing compatible with this particular processor, but I would have to research that.
With regards to Rome Total Realism, the most stable faction is the Macedonians. Rome Total Realism would be a nice upgrade for you.
Takhisis Oct 02, 2006, 02:49 PM It happened to me too, that was why I uninstalled it, gave it back to the friend who had lent it to me, and went to a LAN place to play it.
