View Full Version : How do you do Advisor Pcx? Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 27, 2006, 12:13 PM For some reason the advisor pcx I made doesn't work. It appears either as a box in the advisor screen, or is invisible. Its the right color setting, right pallette etc. I have no idea whats going on... Rob (R8XFT) Sep 27, 2006, 12:50 PM First issue : it needs to be sized at 461 x 346 - your pcx is slightly off. Second issue - your pallette isn't set up right. You need to make the background colour number 255 in Paintshop Pro (though it's different in other programs). It's the one next to the green one which is white at the moment. That is the colour that becomes invisible when playing the game. HINT: It's an idea not to have this the exact same colour as the hair ;) . Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 27, 2006, 01:06 PM How do you make them so that they aren't touching the next era either? I believe thats whats causing the invisible thing.. Rob (R8XFT) Sep 27, 2006, 01:18 PM How do you make them so that they aren't touching the next era either? I believe thats whats causing the invisible thing.. It's not the thing that's causing the invisible thing. Okay, here's what I do in Paintshop Pro: Open AB_all from the epic game. Make the black background purple (R255G0B255). Increase colour depth to 16million. Open your happy, neutral and angry faces (which should be 200x240) and reduce their size to 60%. Trial and error bit - reducing the size of the clone brush down to 3, clone the happy face onto the top advisor bubble, copying across enough to fit exactly into the circle. Repeat this process for the neutral and angry faces, utilising the middle and bottom bubbles. Then repeat all of this for each era. It's intricate work and takes time. Then, when you've done, reduce the colour size to 256 colours. Change the colours around so that the purple is in space 255 and that space 254 is set at R0 G255 B0. Save your pallette. At the moment, your pcx looks miscoloured, but it's always darkest before the dawn! Use the "undo" command to undo the pallette changes and reduction of colours to 256. You're now back to a good looking 16 million colour pcx. Load in the pallette you saved and the colours sort themselves out so that the purple and green colours (purple being invisible) are in the right place. You can amend colour 255 to be black now if you wish with no adverse effects. Hopefully, this will sort you out ;) . Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 27, 2006, 02:03 PM Thankyou Rob, Hopefully I'll have some luck with your little tutorial here, this is one part of the creation process Sid didn't make easy lol. |
