That is strange, that is mostly a better system then i run it on. And its not slow on mine. Unless its very late in the game on a large or huge map. That can bring one of the best computers down to its knees.

The standard advise for slow down is to do a standard defragment, update all drivers, update windows and close any background programs before running Civ. If thats not doing much, then try a smaller map.

Nope, tryed all that. And its slow on the smallest of maps. The game never hit over 25 fps even at the beggining and its mostly at around 15fps.

On smallish maps, with effects and details turned down, I can normally hit the prefered 30+ fps on my PC (see sig). But in the 2nd half of the game, the thing lags horribly - ESPECIALLY in multiplayer games (once promoted stack of vikings with City Raider 3 promotion to MACHINEGUNS due to lagging ) and FPS is well below 20fps.

Civ4 is a great game badly coded - and theres probably nothing you can do about it, but upgrading your rig. Some people have reported that upgrading the videocard does not help significantly, but that the effort should go into the cpu.
